I happen to like the new album. Had a few beers with friends, gave it a listen, and generally had a pretty damn good time. Which is exactly what I want from a new AC/DC album. Nothing more, nothing less.

The "ballad" confused the hell out of me though. Gave me a weird little vibe of the ick. And the whole "limited edition" packaging thing is a total rip. Not impressed with that one.

I have to give huge props to AC/DC for rocking out for 30 years, and never really sucking.

AC/DC is still around?? I remember first hearing them when I was in elementary school....which was over 30 years ago

Ever since XM's moranic decision to kill off their punk station for 24 hour AC/DC, I've been praying that their stupid short pants loving programming department get a Fungus infection.

/why so Sirius?

Eh, don't worry.

Sirius nuked Punk 29 for all AC/DC, too.

It'll be back after the promotional hype is over. Unless it's Elvis, Sinatra, the Dead, or Springsteen, no artist dedicated channel is permanent. I mean, if the Stones didn't keep their permanent channel, AC/DC doesn't stand a chance.

Hell, Sirius even replaced channel 3 a couple times for All Neil Diamond radio, and All ABBA radio. But, in the end, the "limited edition" channel runs it's course, and the original channel returns.

I think its to help punk fans stay full of anger and angst.

This. It's AC/DC, you can say all the songs sound the same and I agree that most of them do. But they still rock.

SiriusXm dumps Punk to promo some bands, but Punk channel is returned after the promo. It has happened before.

It has been said but I forget who said it:

"AC/DC only plays one song, but they play it better than anyone in the world."

Glad they are putting an album I won't regret buying no matter where they sell it.

Saying AC/DC should change their music is like saying beer should be changed into a fruity flat beverage with no alcohol in it. You can't improve on perfection.

gregoire4 2008-10-24 06:08:02 AM
Listening to it right now, tight as hell and just what I hoped for. It's like turkey on Thanksgiving. It's always the same and it's always exactly what you crave.

ACDC has some of the best pure rock and roll songs ever. Even though they sound alike.

If there was it would be awful. AC/DC doesn't need to release Load or Tales from the Elder. If it aint broke don't fix it.

/even the Ramones eventually broke up...

The Ramones never had any commercial success and Joey hated Johnny.

I was actually really happy with the album. It sounds like AC/DC (why the hell would they want to sound different!?!?) and I find it's actually got a really nice 'classic rock' sound to it.

I must say, I really have found some gems in AC/DC's catalogue, it's unforutnate that each album for the most part has a few select songs.

Either way, I own all of their albums and I like them :)

But heres the thing, None of the songs you mention sound the same. I don't know maybe I missed the bag pipes in Riff Raff

I really liked the new Rush album, and I thought the new Metallica album was pretty good if you're willing to over look a few problems. I thought the new AC/DC album was the best thing I've heard all year, so I was sure that everyone else would hate it.

Glad to see I was wrong.

Listening to Black Ice as I read the blogs.....
it's covered here.
Don't even mention pantywaist poseurs like Metallica, Nickelback in the same arena as AC\DC.
Particularly like Anything Goes, Big Jack.
Gotta see them this winter..... last chance maybe?
