A couple of years ago, somebody really farked with my neighbor's car. Poured some kind of solvent all over it that ate through the paint, and poured some into the gas tank too, so the engine was farked. Maybe it was a random act or destruction perpetrated by bored, horrible teenagers. Or perhaps it was someone with a personal grudge against my neighbor who is a bit of a douchebag. But clearly, the most reasonable answer is it was some enraged Cubs fan taking exception to the White Sox sticker on the car.

That's terrible and precisely the reason I will not put ANY stickers on my car.

I like it when my car doesn't get vandalized. It's surprisingly easy to help ensure that result every day. I don't leave anything inside my car that is valuable. I don't ever leave it unlocked or the windows rolled down even slightly. And I don't put anything on my car that might piss off some neanderthal who thinks it'd be a good idea to express his/her disapproval of my beliefs my scratching my car.

Of course, that said, the idiots who vandalized the guy's car should be arrested and charged.

Hate crimes are a form of terrorism, they're a crime committed because of what the individual is, not who the individual is. They're intended to intimidate others like the victim.

That's why they're punished more severely than regular crimes -- their intent is to terrorize.

San Antonio is a little more laid back than, say, East Texas... plus i'm 6'3, weigh 250lbs, have a shaved head and generally look like someone you don't want to mess with.

There is no doubt in my mind that the intelligentsia who direct content on MSNBC, the Huffington Post, and the AP will give identical treatment and attention to victims of left wing vandalism as they do to the right wing nuts who allegedly yelled poorly worded epithets about Obama.

If Keith Olbermann didn't pretend to lose his temper and shout "HOW DARE YOU..." at this, like at the gossip about what may have been shouted at McCain rallies, where stories of a few verifiable shouts were padded with worse epithets in the retelling, then he would be a big fat hypocrite. In Cobb County GA everybody drives an expensive car with a Bush sticker on it (or at least this was the case when I lived there a couple years ago). I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the stupidity of buying a car essentially just for the way it looks and then putting an ugly sticker on it. Whether or not someone farks with it, you've already done the damage.

On a side note, I had a friend in high school who printed out a bunch of rainbow flag stickers with the caption "let them fly together!" and would go around putting them on cars with rebel flag stickers. I always wondered how long those guys would drive their trucks around before noticing.

I don't care what someone does or what stickers are on their car, don't fark with their car. There is really no cause for that.

When you put stickers on your car, or put political signs of the candidate you want up on your lawn, it is a bullseye for usually getting someone pissed off.
