Joe Wurzelbacher, a plumber from Holland, Ohio, told Mike Huckabee on his Fox News talk show Saturday that he is upset by the attention and has been unable to work with reporters crowded on his front lawn.

No, but it is the nasty media that's destroying his life right now. Some scrutiny to validate the facts is one thing. A bunch of media vultures hanging around and preventing you from carrying on with your life is completely different. Fark the soulless media.

Sir Roderick Glossop 2008-10-19 08:19:18 AM
FTA: "You know, when you can't ask a question of your leaders anymore, that gets scary," he said.

Considering a presidential candidate whom he was concern-trolling spent six minutes hearing him out, and further considering it was his favored candidate that thrust him into the spotlight, this just might be the quote that best captures the peculiar combination of mendacity and victimhood that characterizes post-1994 Republicanism.

You're right. But then, who did he go running to in order to cry about it?

SmackLT [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 09:01:03 AM
After the first four "Joe the Plumber" references in the debate, I too was ready for his name to disappear forever.

Unfortunately, this seems like a guy that really enjoys the attention, so I have a feeling that he'll be around for another month, at least.

"So Joe, what do you think of the election results?"
"So Joe, will (winning candidate) be able to address your tax concerns?"

Plus a million other "Joe the Plumber is now licensed in Ohio" updates until I wanna club my TV to death with a Stilson 18" adjustable pipe wrench.

MuckSP [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 09:05:45 AM
"You know, I am an plumber idiot," Wurzelbacher said. "Just an plumber idiot."

Fixed that for him. Nobody told you to talk to the media, concern troll.

I always thought of him more as a Fark Independent(tm) but this certainly works too.

And he's not even actually a plumber.

Plus, his taxes would actually decrease under Obama's plan, but slightly increase under McCain. Assuming he actually paid them.

So much fail wrapped up in one package.

mjsee [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 09:41:07 AM
McCain is still "Joe-the-plumber-ing" right, left, and center. He "Joe the plumber" got mentioned in McCain's speech yesterday here in NC...

Ahhh_Ennui [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 09:49:52 AM
Wurzelbacher said he agreed to appear on the show after he received phone calls from friends serving in the military who voiced their support.
This is such a stilted question. Do you suppose Palin told him to say "military friends" to make himself appear pure?

"You know, when you can't ask a question of your leaders anymore, that gets scary," he said.
Hey, that's what I've been saying since 9/12/01! Joe and I ARE alike!

On Sunday, McCain was to travel to Ohio, where he might appear with Wurzelbacher.
Yeah, Joe's really tired of the spotlight.

Let's see how much plumbing Joe the Plumber does as he and his agent continue to work through his painful 15-minute transformation from nobody pupa, into the beautiful appearance-fee rich reality television butterfly that is, newly minted D-lister - Joey Fairplay.

Considering I know some folks who know Joe personally, he might want to keep his yap shut if he really doesn't want folks digging back any further. The man has some larger skeletons in his closet than his back taxes, divorces, or lack of any professional certification, and he keeps this up, they might come tumbling out.

Joe can spin this all he wants, but the campaign is taking a huge risk by bringing him in closer--especially if they want to play the guilty by association game.

redqueenmeg 2008-10-19 10:24:24 AM
My favorite part is this:

"The media's worried about whether I've paid my taxes, they're worried about any number of silly things that have nothing to do with America."

OK, I know they were state taxes, but since when does paying taxes have nothing to do with America? I thought that was like Point Number One in our political process, talking about taxes!

THIS.

Frankly, Joe's status as a fraud doesn't matter, because Obama answered Joe the Plumber's questions, not Joe Wurzelbacher. If Joe wasn't lying, then Obama answers would have placated him, or at least offered a sensible answer that could be amiably disagreed with instead of this bullshiat.

You do realize that many people on Fark calling themselves Independent are actually hard-right trolls with no intention of ever voting for anything except a Republican and who pretend to be Independent so they can convince actual independents to vote Republican through subterfuge and FUD.

That's why we use the term.

No, that phrase is to describe Farkers who claim to be independents but will only praise Republicans and bash everything Obama all the while claiming to be independents. That phrase was made up so people didn't rope in REAL independents with the fake ones.

Hey Joe, you just found out that when you lie about everything to get attention, that spotlight starts to burn.

Are you in jail now, Joe The Plumber? Is the government coming after you for asking a question?

No?

Then it seems you can, in fact, question your leaders. Don't cry because you got the attention you were whoring for.

I'd blame the huge group of "Independents" on Fark who talk about how they're not Republicans or Democrats, but constantly rail on the smallest slight from Democrats while ignoring or giving half-hearted admonishment to the far more horrible shiat that comes from Republicans.

Seeing as he could and possibly still benefit largely from the attention, i think it's fitting. If you play with fire, don't be surprised if you get burned. Especially if you're a lying scumbag with an agenda.

I just don't get it. Obama answered his question, taking the time to explain it thoroughly. Very few small business owners would end up paying more in taxes, the vast majority would pay less.

Why is McCain continuing to belabor this? And why is anyone still talking to this guy?

No, you aren't the only one. I've been registered "unaffiliated" since 1978...and it irks me as well.

When I lived in Ohio I voted Republican more often than Democratic...then I moved to NC and I vote D more often than R. I like being allowed to choose my primary...30 years ago I was a "Rockefeller Republican." Now I'm..."unaffiliated."

I'm voting for Obama. 2 months ago if you'd asked me how I felt about a McCain presidency I'd have told you that I would be OK with it. I'd rather it was Obama, but McCain would be fine. But that was two months ago. If McCain manages to pull this out...I will NOT be happy. Sarah Palin, the way he's run his campaign...so many things.

Joe's right. There's been a sudden plunge in business at the Wasilla Holiday Inn as the strike team of "investigative journalists" that was assiduously digging up dirt on Trig Palin has beat its collective feet to Joe's front lawn. Meanwhile Obama has been rubbing elbows with terrorists and anti-American kooks for decades and there isn't an instrument sensitive enough to measure the level of media indifference to that story.

In an economy where millions are seeing their savings bleed out because they're the "little guy" who no one gives a shiat about while the top 1-5% are taking obscene amounts of money and jumping out of the disasters they caused with parachutes made of money, spreading the wealth sounds like a farking good idea.

Especially when the market is farking terrified and if a bit of wealth was spread around the 95% consumer base, it would probably improve things all around.

What a douche bag. He tries to corner Obama because he "has always wanted to back a politician in to a corner." He winds up getting his question answered thoroughly. Then the candidate he favored makes him into an issue in this election. Joe the plumber was still fine with this as he happily did interview after interview. But when people found out the bad things about him, he wants to take his ball and go home. What a clown.
