That was fairly quick.

Bernie Lomax put on a better performance in Weekend At Bernies 2

what_now [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:08:48 AM
.....she didn't really do or say anything.

are you telling me she couldn't even remember lines for a three minute sketch?

preppunk19 [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:09:37 AM
Fine. Funny. Can we vote her in now?

IronTom [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:12:16 AM
what_now: are you telling me she couldn't even remember lines for a three minute sketch?

she is potentially the next VP, not an actor

Rascal King 2008-10-19 01:12:40 AM
Heh, I think Alec Baldwin summed her up pretty well.

Occam's Chainsaw [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:13:46 AM
*Trims the clip of her actually saying "Caribou Barbie"*

Yup, got what I needed from that. Thank you, Lorne.

Ok. But if you can't remember more than four or five lines for a sketch on network TV, how are you going to remember unimportant stuff like the names of foreign leaders and why exactly it is your sumittin' with them and such?

/any one else catch the "and such" Amy Pohler threw out?

burndtdan 2008-10-19 01:15:01 AM
i don't know if palin knows this, but alec baldwin did an impression of her on bill maher's show.

Bob Balaban 2008-10-19 01:23:14 AM
Basically it's a bunch of people making fun of Sarah Palin while she watches. She thinks that just because she's there it's different. Probably the only person indifferent to it is Wahlberg.

GWLush [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:23:31 AM
I am by far not a fan but I think she did an okay job. Wahlberg was funnier.

CtrlAltDelete [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:26:17 AM
DANCE FOR THE CAMERAS, SARAH! DANCE!

Yesdog [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:44:07 AM
I might have voted for her if she did the rap.

monty666 [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:51:08 AM
If she had been true to her most recent public utterances, she would have appeared as Obama with a turban and a rocket launcher, with his trusty companion William "Bombboy" Ayers riding shotgun.

vegasj 2008-10-19 01:52:32 AM
what a tool.

Sgygus [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:54:00 AM
My spouse thought Sarah was trying to shrink off-screen when she was standing between Michaels and Baldwin.

I thought she looked just a bit hurt/scared in her final 'live from NY' face-shot.

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 01:58:16 AM
stiff.

but amy poehler... my god is that woman awesome!

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 02:07:12 AM
stiff - yet somehow arrogant. not an easy thing to pull off. as if she were deigning to grace us with her presence, dontchaknow.

Brettster808 [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 02:19:45 AM
The opening was sort of funny.

The news segment was awkward and uncomfortable.

Both were poorly written.

The roast with McCain and Obama was much much funnier.

lettere [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 02:35:01 AM

And you just described SNL for the past 20 years. And anyone complaining about her reading the cue cards, every one else on the show was doing the same thing. In fact, no one even tries to hide it anymore, they just stare off stage left in every scene. It's worse than a soap opera.

Coco LaFemme [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 02:43:18 AM
I wasn't expecting much, it's not like they were going to write this huge, fabulous sketch for her. That said, it was almost cringe-worthy to see the joke go right over her head right to her face.

/expects some Farker to make a "right to her face" joke
//knows you guys well

And-1 2008-10-19 04:21:52 AM

Coco LaFemme: it was almost cringe-worthy to see the joke go right over her head right to her face.

Yeah, pretty much this. They were just taking the piss out of her, right there, in her face, and I don't think she even fully realised it. Like she was going along with a joke she didn't quite get, but she didn't want to admit it and ask someone to explain it to her.

what_now: any one else catch the "and such" Amy Pohler threw out?

Oh yes. And I LOL'd at that. Unlike Palin, who didn't even catch it.

Seriously. She is a fukcing moron.

McCain-Palin - 2 Bushes for the price of one. One America, that is.

Sun God [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 05:11:20 AM
At the end, when Brolin is closing the show, and Palin is there in her hooker boots, (looking pretty foxy), a fat lesbian almost mauls her.

Foaming [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 05:17:59 AM
I was expecting her to at least attempt a joke, but she was really just a prop. It wasn't so much like she was on SNL as she went to SNL and got really really good seats.

CitizenReserveCorps 2008-10-19 06:20:11 AM
Amy Poehler rocked the news segment.

RevMercutio [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 06:28:24 AM
I don't support her and there's no way I'd vote for her. That being said, she did a better job than Clinton and Obama, in my opinion.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 07:22:54 AM
I wouldn't vote for her but I would hit it like an angry moose.

SwingingJohnson 2008-10-19 07:50:40 AM
Embarrassing. Even the body language at the ending "Thankyou, Goodnight" bit was strained. Looked like 1 female cast member hugged her to save the awkward situation.

Worst politician performance ever.

Pohler deserves a lot of credit for performing that rap song so well. And she looks like a riot dancing while she so knocked up in that bar room skit.

SwingingJohnson 2008-10-19 07:51:33 AM

I dunno, she did better than Alec Baldwin... the man can not read a cue card, Wahlberg was funny too. God, what'd they have, about a half dozen "special guests?"

ilambiquated 2008-10-19 07:58:20 AM
would prefer a press conference

RandomExcess 2008-10-19 07:59:17 AM
Palin should try some MILF porn

Mcavity 2008-10-19 08:03:33 AM
I think even she knows its basically over.

//yes I know the race will tighten up as we get closer but not enough in the end.

Corn_Fed 2008-10-19 08:08:25 AM
Was it just me, or was the sketch deliberately written so that Tina Fey would not have to share the stage with her for any length of time?

Waldo Pepper 2008-10-19 08:08:34 AM
I don't think anyone is giving her enough credit. She is is a win/win/win situation. If they win she is VP and her life is set. If they lose she goes back to Alaska and if her choice is to decide to stay in politics she has more credit.

but even more important to her, she has just set herself up to get back into the tv business as some sort of anchor or talk show host.

VP material, I don't know. For we never know how people can grow we the need arises. but stupid woman. Nope. Brilliant woman as far as her own future is concerned.

brigid_fitch [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 08:15:07 AM
Sgygus: My spouse thought Sarah was trying to shrink off-screen when she was standing between Michaels and Baldwin.

I noticed that, too. She absolutely took a step back when Alec walked up. I just thought she was afraid she'd catch something Liberal from him or something. She was clearly uncomfortable around him.

Geeves00 2008-10-19 08:17:05 AM
meh.

SwingingJohnson 2008-10-19 08:17:07 AM
zamboni: Swinging

Regarding all the Special guests, and the extremely weak 2 sketches Palin was in... I suspect she backed out of sketches that they had rehearsed at the last minute. She was in NYC for 2 days to prepare for this and my local NYC news reported that she was in rehearsals for hours at the NBC studio.

So I conclude that she backed out of the prepared sketches at the last minute and they came up with the crap you saw as PLAN B.

Bad Dad Why 2008-10-19 08:18:25 AM
It looked to me like a lot of compromises went into those sketches. That could have been what dulled them. Not bright.

/ Still laughed and smiled 25% more during that portion of my life

SomebodyElsesShoes 2008-10-19 08:28:30 AM
I thought it was slightly funny. And then they shot the moose. That racheted up the funny.

PizzaJedi81 2008-10-19 08:37:18 AM
ilambiquated: would prefer a press conference

I would have respected her more for doing that than SNL.

chipspastic 2008-10-19 08:38:49 AM
what_now: .....she didn't really do or say anything.

If only that were true of her in general.

alywa [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 08:41:36 AM
I thought the rap was pretty funny. The first sketch was very awkward... I almost felt bad for Sarah.

/Almost

SwingingJohnson 2008-10-19 08:42:21 AM
Fortunately for the McCain campaign she can undue the damage when she appears on MEET THE PRESS this morning.

Oh, wait.

SwingingJohnson 2008-10-19 08:44:35 AM
MEET THE PRESS - for anyone interested, MTP is taping right now and MSNBC will announce if Colin Powell endorsed Obama or McCain within the next 15 minutes... hours before it is aired 10:30AM.

This

bill37663 2008-10-19 08:51:14 AM
That was the first time I saw her speak that didn't make me laugh.

one0nine 2008-10-19 08:53:50 AM
I wouldn't cross the street to piss on her if she were on fire, but Amy Poehler's rap segment was absolutely hysterical, and Palin was at least a good enough sport to work with it... AND call herself Caribou Barbie and such.

/your mileage may vary, professional driver on closed course, remove before use, etc.

Linux_Yes [TotalFark] 2008-10-19 08:57:08 AM
i hope she got her nut. or at least McAin't got his.

Fromageball 2008-10-19 08:58:10 AM
The bit at the press conference "well, I'm not going to take any of your questions...live from ny it's saturday night"
...That kind of thing is only funny if it were in any way funny that she really does NOT take questions/interviews/etc.
