Yes, it might raise McCain's probability of winning the election into double digits.

Yeah, that and Bigfoot really keep me up at night.

She's just so golly gee darn likeable..

Mordant [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 07:33:24 PM
Thank God someone is always around to tell the left what they think.

damageddude [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 07:33:32 PM
allowing her to appear in such a favorable situation (i.e. SNL protects their political guests and makes sure they are given good material) is unconscionable

Gasp. They're right. After all, Hillary defeated Obama after she appeared on SNL.

Crown_of_Shoes 2008-10-18 07:34:05 PM
Let's try to make up scenes. Here's mine:

30 years in the future, Queen Palin is tasked with teaching America's Heir-to-be, Trig Palin, how to give an effective stump speech. A 30 year old Trig to be played by Jim Breuer.

Exodus2001 2008-10-18 07:34:45 PM
If she is in fact funny tonight, I'm voting for McCain. If anything can win my vote it's being funny and likeable on SNL.

This is a game changer.

Scene #2:

She encounters Barak Obama in a NYC subway terminal in the middle of the night. Then she blusters apologies to him, confesses all her most sinister, racist thoughts. Obama tries to be really nice and polite. Then she sees a cop and insists he arrest Obama. The cop refuses. She fires his boss.

Heroic Poser 2008-10-18 07:43:55 PM
Yep. That's exactly what I look for in a FARKING VICE PRESIDENT POSITION!

Crown_of_Shoes 2008-10-18 07:48:54 PM
Scene 3:

She's walking through the woods with a hunting rifle when she spots Vladamir Putin and has to reprimand him and march him back over the Bering Straight.

FlashHarry [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 07:49:50 PM
'cause that's what I'M looking for in a VP - likability! forget command of the issues! forget ethics! forget all that. i wan't her to be likable!

awfulperson [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 07:50:13 PM
Quoting myself from a previous thread:

*YAWN*. It's just going to be the same damn schtick as when Janet Reno/Paula Abdul/Hillary Clinton/Judge Judy showed up and stood there and fake scowled at their SNL counterparts.

And you know that, like Paula and Hillary, she's not going to do a damn thing. She's going to stand there next to Fey as the audience cheers and hoots for approx. 45 seconds. Then she'll say something like, "wow, ya really do look like me. Like the bangs."

Then, maybe she'll say "Maverick" once, and the audience will wet itself, and then they'll both say in unison, "doggone it, live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

There, now you don't even have to watch it.

My friends I'm not worried one bit. You betcha.

awfulperson: There, now you don't even have to watch it.

This ^, but I'll bet SNL gave her some options and her handlers nixed every one. They don't want her to do this, they are just letting her do it because they promised her when the vetted her that she'd get to make ONE decision on the campaign trail.

God knows, I'm terrified as balls.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 08:01:53 PM
I'm worried about the McCain campaign trying to suppress voting with their tried and true "OMG! Voter registration fraud IS voter fraud" strategy. I'm also worried about turnout among Obama supporters. I'm very worried about the fate of Prop 8 in California.

Sarah Palin can make a funny, whatever. The public is already convinced she's unqualified.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 08:06:10 PM
It'd be nice if they'd drop the strawman that "The Left" is afraid about anything but Palin having access to the Button.

Me, too. There were tons of nuts hanging out on every corner around the local grocery stores and businesses with their "yes on 8" signs.

I just don't see how anyone can support different rights for different people.

I've had enough of your "gotcha" Fark journalism.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 08:29:29 PM
I wonder what reaction she'll get from the audience considering she implied New York was un-American only two days ago.

Hmm.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 08:30:11 PM
Correction, anti-American.

That would be amazing. I hope she's bringing Piper along to shield the boos.

I'm afraid of her being on SNL. I'm afraid she'll be painfully unfunny

It's that typical liberal media welfare-queen elitism.

I'd love it if this was a gotcha by SNL and they walk out an actual pit bull wearing lipstick.

Breuer's not smart enough to act like Trig.

Bauer [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 09:07:26 PM
she is a political whore who deserves nothing.

let alone a spot on snl.

she's hooked up in god forsaken "alaska" through her 'looks' and her 'spunk'?

that gives her as much credibilty as paris hilton on "mtv".

i find her to be massively offensive.

-go away, pretender.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 09:09:12 PM
Sarah Palin's problem is not that she's not likeable - it's that she's *only* likeable. She has nothing else to offer, and people see through it.

Jon Snow [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 09:11:00 PM
1. She used to be a sportscaster and can read teleprompters with ease.
2. SNL is also accomodating to whatever political cameos they can snag.
3. Lorne Michaels has been a McCain supporter since 2000, and even going so far as to donate money to his Senatorial reelection campaign, which was hardly competitive.

She will do very well, and the press will act like she won a Fields Medal.

CtrlAltDelete [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 09:25:10 PM
Yeeeessss.... Dance for the cameras. Dance, you vacant shell of a woman. Dance so that we may be entertained.

Gangway Fathead 2008-10-18 09:55:07 PM
She's gonna do great just like Huckabee, McCain and Giuliani all have in the recent past.

Lawnchair 2008-10-18 09:56:21 PM
George W Bush was, at least as far as I can tell, funny and likeable before he was president before he did a mocking impression of a death row inmate on the night of her execution. Doesn't make him a good president.

Crown_of_Shoes 2008-10-18 09:56:53 PM
*Sigh*

I'm bored of all the "likely" scenarios. Time to bust out the good ideas.

I want to see her start giving a stump speech, then rip her face off and reveal a robot skull underneath and start firing lasers into the audience while cackling madly.

Lord_Baull 2008-10-18 09:57:40 PM
If memory serves, her likeability is not in question, we already know she's likable.
The problem is in her fungibility.

dodecahedron [TotalFark] 2008-10-18 10:00:41 PM
The host of the show is Josh Brolin, so I can imagine a skit with her and W.

I hope people boo her mercilessly.

NYZooMan 2008-10-18 10:01:19 PM
Are they going to do the skit where Sandra Bernhard has her black friends gang rape her?

I know all the O-bot Libs would really get a kick out of that!

Donald_McRonald 2008-10-18 10:02:00 PM
I can't believe Sarah Palin is going to be in New York aka the fake America.

Blank sheet of paper. She starts drawing all 50 states, including capitals and state birds, while discussing the accomplishments of the Doha round of the WTO summits. At the end, "top that Franken!"

FarKnight 2008-10-18 10:02:49 PM
I happened to run into my town mayor today. He's a republican and can't stand Palin. He basically says she's a coont and he hopes Tina Fey makes her cry tonight.

Unlikely tag on vacation?

falcon176 2008-10-18 10:03:02 PM

just like...all the other times she's on tv

Whats wrong with that?

You know, statistically speaking, 9 out 10 people actually enjoy gang rape.
