What do you mean, submitter? Axl weaved that basket and the rest of the band built that bike from scratch.

Gay.

The song on Rock Band 2 is pretty lame.

Is anyone really waiting for this?

Man, I wish there was a rule that when you get down to one original member that you have to call the band something else. Especially when the band is named after members. You got no Tracy Gunns, You got no Duff "Rose" McKagan... so, Guns N' Roses.

Come to thin of it, "Rose" WOULD be a good name for the current lineup. Pleasant to have around for a few days, but surely nothing of lasting value.

I got a bootleg copy a few months ago, ale sounds exactly the same but with a band that came from playing covers at the local Holiday Inn.

No. Then again I wasn't really waiting for it 13 years ago either.

And the cover art, I've seen somewhere before, I can't figure out where.

I think it's a train-wreck fascination to see just how badly it sucks. Whether it will raise the bar of sucktitude higher, or just fail and faceplant in the sand.

In one of the umpteen previous threads about this album a farker pointed out that Axl has been dicking with this for longer that the entire recording careers of Zeppelin or The Beatles.

At this point Axl and the band could play the songs live in my front yard and I wouldn't look out the window to see.

Fark U: GNR wasn't that great to begin with.

I certainly wouldn't argue with that, but Appetite for Destruction was a solid album without a bad song that did more with the genre than probably any other album. But yeah, you're right. Use Your Illusion had very few songs that even came close and had a lot of songs that were just really bad. Really bad.

1/10

Now back under your bridge, the grownups are mocking Axl.

I know you mellow with age, but to go from some sort of weird robots raping a chick with her boob hanging out to a bike with basket, that's like Kenny G mellow.

They were pretty good actually, but I don't have a "stance" on music on account of not being a pretentious gobshiate. I just enjoy the stuff, listening to it, playing it, recording it, mixing it at shows, so what would I know.

/I play Guitar Hero too.

I contend the Use Your Illusion pair, if distilled down to one album, would have been a excessive-but-kickass album. Sadly, nobody could say no to Axl by that point. And their bank accounts were thankful for the double-release, I'm sure. Shoulda just used the rest as B-sides to all the singles.

gregoire4 2008-10-16 05:53:57 PM
OK, maybe I'm ignorant, but I farking LOVED GnR back in the day. I remember hanging out in front of the Tower Records store waiting until midnight so I could buy the Use Your Illusion CDs. I guess all the music afficionados here on Fark are better than me but I know what I like. I'll buy the new album because I don't know any better. I'm betting there are tons more people like me too. So go ahead and tell me how stupid I am. At the end of the day I'm happy and you are not.

bigbadideasinaction: I contend the Use Your Illusion pair, if distilled down to one album, would have been a excessive-but-kickass album.

It could have been good, but not good in the way Appetite was good, which was in more of a straight ahead rock way. Even the good parts were over-produced*, which is why I'm assuming Chinese Democracy will suck. Well, that and the absence of Slash, Duff, Izzy, etc.

*except for estranged, which is damned near perfect.

This makes sense. I saw that tour in Edmonton, AB when I was 13. We were really close to the speakers and I remember thinking that the old guy (probably 30) was a loser because he put in ear plugs in before G n'R was 3 hours late to play (hilarious).

By the end of the concert they sounded like the Chipmunks doing Guns n' Roses. I couldn't hear without a ringing in my ears for 3 days.

bigbadideasinaction: I contend the Use Your Illusion pair, if distilled down to one album, would have been a excessive-but-kickass album. Sadly, nobody could say no to Axl by that point.

The rumor I always heard is that Geffen were pushing a double album because they were scared shiatless that one of the key members was going to OD and they wanted to get it all out there while they could.

Supposedly that's what inspired the lyrics to The Jellyfish "Ghost of Number One".

/Jellyfish -- criminally underrated.

echoshizzle 2008-10-16 06:06:47 PM
I like the new songs but am pretty pissed those leaks are pretty much the album.

Those rumors of enough material for 3 CD's better be accurate and there better damn well be another album within a few years.

It's amazing that this 'band' was once not only relevant, but a real segue from hair rock. 'Appetite...' remains one of the more influential albums, ever. And now we have, well, whatever.

The Dr Pepper spokesperson told MTV News that, while additional details will be forthcoming, the company's plan to distribute free cans of its product will involve some sort of an online coupon system. "People will go on Dr Pepper's Web site and we will send them a coupon for a free one," the spokesperson confirmed. "It's going to be real easy."

This thread demonstates that Axl/GNR are just as polarizing as ever. Some might argue that the true essence of rock n' roll is the line between what is generally acceptable/popular and what is not.
