Taylor has seen lots of morons who just won't get a brain -- when he was in the mental ward, that is. That's what that song is about.

He's so vain.

He's still alive..?
I'm in Asheville now, so I have every erm... opportunity to see one of these, but no thanks.

What demographic are they trying to capture?

Asheville can be pretty liberal/progressive (for NC, anyhow), but the old Southern die-hard Republican folks here probably won't be convinced by a James Taylor concert, and I may be going out on a limb here, but the young people likely don't find it relevant at all...

Nice headline, though.

If I could vote for this headline twice (or once, for that matter), I would.

Agree with this, but consider what you're surrounded by :)

anyone who graduated HS in the mid 70's, his "Mud Slide Slim" lp that I had stashed right between Deep Purple and the Allman Brothers was solid "get laid" Gold. JT had the chick tunes down cold.

As for Southern Die-hards I agree, they may not come, consider them free shows for Obama supporters

I'm playing that headline through at Me First and the Gimme Gimmes pace. Goes great with a driving metal backbeat, instead of that wussy folk guitar.

There's a lot of old hippies around Asheville and Boone. Don't know about the rest of the state.

I'm sure McCain knows a lot about flying machines in pieces on the ground.

Is he going to break out Steamroller Blues? Because that worked out real good for the last Democrat who referenced it.

I suspect that it has something to do with being university towns. Granted, that raises a question about why Johnson City (across the stateline in TN) is what it is.

Haven't been to Chapel Hill lately, I take it.

I liked him better when he was a long-haired drug-taking musician. He looks old!

About as relevant as Stephen Baldwin rooting for McCain.

Another celebrity noone cares about endorsing a candidate.

Meh.

I went to a James Taylor concert about 10 years ago. It was outside. When the sun came out from behind a cloud, the combined reflection from his head and the audience could have generated megawatts of solar energy.

I mean, I'm so damn white I couldn't keep time to a metronome if you held a gun to my head. And an entire amphitheater of unhip, rhythm-challenged, tone-deaf people like me? I was scared.

/If celebrities didn't endorse candidates, how would we know for whom to vote?

Johnson City just has an unusual amount of born agains and rednecks for a college town.

It's just so heartening to be inspired by self-important celebrities with inflated egos. I'm not worthy.
