Silly question but how many of the songs in Blues Brothers were written in the 80s?

mdbuff12 2008-10-15 11:36:15 AM
Together in Electric Dreams? Never even frakkin heard of it and I'm a poster child for 80's pop culture references.

/agree about Blues Brothers, Shake Your Tailfeather is a great song.

Well, if the movie came out in '80, you figure that filming would have been finished in '79. So, none. Still, Popcorn is better than Highway to the Danger Zone.

Lunatic Fringe should be rated higher

I'm pretty sure they were in there. I'm not going back to look.

I also think I saw Kenny Loggins name like six or seven times. I didn't realize he was such a prolific movie soundtrack artist.

oldebayer: There were not 80 good songs of any kind written in the 80's.

Blasphemy!

Is Popcorn the electro-instrumental number you might find on a Pure Moods cd? Or is that something else?

No Blues brothers, def. fail,

Also,

Doesn't "Living in America" qualify? Am I the only person that likes that song?

That song killed Apollo Creed, therefore it sucked.

/He's a great big star.

I can't find the link to it, but someone did a FotR trailer merged with the original Transformers trailer. It was simply badass (Optimus as Gandalf FTW)

I completely agree with #1. That song is quintessential '80s pop.

minoridiot 2008-10-15 11:58:31 AM
My favorite song from a movie was problably "Touched by the Hand of God" by New Order.

this list is a fraud, a miscarriage of justice, and a complete sham, sans that shiatty song from "Real Genius".

also the gay volleyball song from top gun.

and the karate kid "you're the best" song.

Reaperman 2008-10-15 12:13:16 PM
For some reason 'Oh Yeah' by Yello from 'Farris Bueller's Day Off' always reminds me of the 80's (and Duff Beer).

No
"I go crazy" from Some Kind of Wonderful?
"Weird Science" from movie of the same name?
"Holiday Road" from the first Vacation movie?

Those were %100 covers of songs which were done infinitely better the first time around, even considering they hired many of the original musicians. Also, the 80s didn't start numerically until 1981.

And then there was one of the biggest songs of the 80's used prominently in the movie Body Double (new window).
