Satanic messages galore. We get it Donnie and Jordan and crew, you want us to kill, fark, and then eat babies.

If you play a King Diamond record backwards, on the other hand, it's all about leading a good Christian life and doing charitable deeds in the Lord's name.

Sweet. I guess I never realized that there was a part recorded backwards.

Bill Poundstone noted in his book Big Secrets that this is a very clever twist on the traditional "satanic messages" which (according to fundies in the 1980s) were inserted in order to turn kids into Satan's minions. In this case the song is smutty and unwholesome (Darlin Nikki sittin in a hotel lobby masturbating to a magazine) but the hidden backwards message is uplifting and holy.

Note to guitarists: Prince plays some b----in' guitar in the buildup after the last chorus. He's really one of the best heirs of the Hendrix school, and no, not because he's black...he doesn't overdo it like a lot of guys do.

Prince is not just a genius guitarist but a musical genius. Anyone who saw his press conference after the Super Bowl (or has listened to any of his music) can attest.

When you play country music backwards, you get your woman back, your dog back, your truck back...

Petra did something similar to this on their song Judas Kiss. It said, "Why are you looking for the devil, when you ought to be looking for the Lord?"

I worked for a radio station in Arkansas back in the 80s. We used to track albums at midnight. I remember playing that and asking the listeners to call (thinking no one was listening)if they wanted to know what it said.

Took calls for over an hour! Mostly chicks, so it worked out in my favor!

Well, DUH! How low-tech. I thought Mac people were smarter than that.

Why not sample the CD and use a sound editing program to reverse the audio? We did that in the mid-90's with Windows 95 and the sound recorder program to listen to 3rd Stone From The Sun and that song off the Wall that I can never remember.

Never knew Kerry said that. He's right. Makes me love Kerry, Slayer, and Prince even more.

He really is the best living guitarist alive, American or not.

However, Reign in Blood is the greatest rock record ever, so obviously Kerry is no slouch either.

THE HeaVIEST guitar I have ever heard. my best friend and the guy who taught me to play guitar jumped out of the back of my jeep in '01. Spent 3 months in the ICU punishing myself for his drunkin stupidity (plus 6 months in recovery). I tried slayer, metallica, Megadeath... Mule was my stopin point.

I hear a lot of people say Prince can play. I don't hear it. I read an article where Steve Vai said He liked Prince so I gave a listen to some stuff. I never heard him play anything that a 2nd-year guit-player couldn't do.
Not looking for an argument, I respect everybody's right to opinion especially about guitar stuff. If somebody wants, post what is Prince's better guitar stuff, if I can find it on the internet fer free I'll give a listen. I'm not a religious-republican I can admit when I'm wrong. zinger!

I'm not refuting that you did that with a cassette... I'm just trying to figure out how that could work to play it backwards. It would seem to me that flipping the tape in the shell would simply make the "side a" label on the shell show up when playing what was previously "side b", if you get what I mean. Unless you were using some very oddball cassette machine that recorded on the full width of the tape. In which case, you could just flip it over & play it.

With open reel, though - it would work, with a full track mono tape or two track stereo tape.
