The CD already went triple platinum from Wal-Mart- I'm sure they're fine.

Yeah, isn't this album only sold at Wal-Mart?

Yeah. They bought 3 million copies from the bad and plan to retail them there exclusively. Which, when you think about it, is not a bad distribution model- there's more wal-marts in more locations than a lot of music stores, and most people buying ACDC's new album prob. shop at walmart anyways

FTFA

The South Shore African Village Collaborative (SSAVC) was very much a part of the Afrocentric "rites of passage movement," a fringe education crusade of the 1990s. SSAVC schools featured "African-Centered" curricula built around "rites of passage" ceremonies inspired by the puberty rites found in many African societies. In and of themselves, these ceremonies were harmless. Yet the philosophy that accompanied them was not. On the contrary, it was a carbon-copy of Jeremiah Wright's worldview.

Of course, the MSM and liberati news 'journalists' will probably ignore this. I doubt McCain can for much longer, though

Has anyone else noticed an inordinate amount of AC/DC as the bumpers on sporting event telecasts lately? I've seriously heard a ton of their songs on recent baseball and football broadcasts, and I think I now know what may be the reason for it.

THANKS FARK!

Well, I sure as hell am not going to break my ten-year streak of not shopping at Wal-Mart just to pick up the new AC/DC record. WTF were they thinking?

deevo 2008-10-14 12:40:48 PM
Well I sure as hell am not going to break my not-listening-to-AC/DC since I was 13 and thought "I've got big balls" was hilarious just to spend money on music at Wal*Mart.

Yep. Every time a college football game goes to a break or shows a highlight, you can count on AC/DC being played in the background.

Yep. Last fall, I was convinced that Led Zeppelin was going to tour. They had a new Zep-exclusive XM channel (AC/DC has one on Sirius now), there was Zep playing in all sorts of bumpers for sports events, culminating in the one-off reunion gig in London. I'm sure that the plan was to tour, but something happened along the way.

But yes, Virginia, there is a huge multi-media marketing tie-in with such things.

dogcow69: as a long time fan, the album blows

As a long time fan, I'm not surprised, they've been going down hill for a long time, they should have quit a long time ago, and this crap about selling only at walmart was just disheartening, considering they probably wouldn't sell half of ACDC's albums due to lyrical content.

CZMisfitsFan 2008-10-14 02:18:27 PM
See, this is why bands should release albums a week or two after finishing them. Hell, Trent Reznor was able to record and release an album within 48 hours. If more bands had that kind of drive, they wouldn't have to worry about album leaks. If an album is good enough to be leaked, then it's good enough to be released commercially.

/The album is actually quite good. Some fans will try and hold it to Back in Black or Highway to Hell and that's pretty foolish. It's freaking AC/DC and it sounds like the follow up to For Those About to Rock.

In other words, it's just interesting enough to want to hear, but not good enough to want to pay money for.

Yeah true enough I actually enjoyed stiff upper lip quite a bit, its not a classic like highway to hell or anything but it had a few good surprises on there and the title track was great. I still got my ticket to their upcoming gig in my area though, despite a lackluster album i'm sure it will be a hell of a show.

Bon Scott died. I moved on. I still throw Let there be Rock, Powerage, and If you Want Blood into the CD player though.

Trent Reznor can sit down with his MacBook Pro and crank out an album as fast as he can write songs.

AC/DC doesn't work that way. That's not bad, it's just different.

First, maintaining the proper level of intoxication for 48 hours is challenging... then there's the issue of, you know, real instruments, drums, Gibson guitars, etc... they need things like recording studios and rehearsals and mixers (tonic, club soda, and sour mix, at least) and then they can have an engineer and a producer sit down and make an album out of all the tracks.

That takes a bit longer.

However, I agree, once THAT is done, make a CD and put it out, already. And for Dog's sake, don't sell it at Wal-Mart. I like AC/DC, and wouldn't be caught dead in a Wal-Mart....

It's a shame to see a young, struggling band victimized by piracy.
