I look just like Buddy Holly and my wife is Mary Tyler Moore, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

I'm surprised it wasn't already--went there circa 1995 and there was all sorts of plaques around it, a little museum inside.

Do you remember if you cried, when you read the plaque about his widowed bride? Did the venue touch you deep inside, the last place they played the day the music died?

Well I did, I then took off for the levy in my Chevy.

Alpine Valley here in WI is the last place Stevie Ray Vaughn played, maybe it can get the same designation.

Could you describe the water level of said levy?

Right! and everybody knows how credible the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is! Just look at the groups that should have been inducted and have been ignored. The Rock N Roll Hall of fame is kind of a joke!

It was very low, in fact on might say the levy was dry.

Were you drinking any beverages at said levy? Perhaps with a group of fine fellows?

Funny, Rush never came to mind when I made my remark! Doesn't some guy named Neil Peart play with them? I heard he can play drums pretty good!

The Moody Blues
The Hollies

To the above, I agree with Deep Purple.

However, I find it telling that you completely forgot the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla.

To hell with the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Rock isn't supposed to be a respected institution. It's supposed to be a vile and disgusting form of music designed to piss off parents and other squares.

Wow, that's a pretty complete list of boring-ass overblown rock groups I don't give a shiat about.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame SUCKS! Easily the most overpriced, least interesting museum I have ever been to. Poorly designed, poorly laid out and a bunch of really crappy displays. I will never go back even if I got free admission.

Congratulations to you, my friend, for being the first to mention Waylon in this thread.

Most people don't know that Waylon was Buddy's bass player, and on this particular night, Waylon gave his seat up to the Big Bopper.

Before the two groups departed, Buddy and Waylon had a conversation something like this:

BH: I hope your ol' bus freezes up! It's 40 below out there!
WJ: Oh yeah, I hope your ol' plane crashes!

Waylon didn't tell anyone this story for YEARS, because he felt such incredible guilt about it.

He then went on to record "Honky Tonk Heroes", along with many other fantastic albums, so it is anyone's guess as to what would have happened had the Bopper taken the bus...

GFR will get in once they stop singing "I'm getting closer to my home." Based on the last time I heard the song, that should be about 2027.
