More than screenshots were taken. There is poof that she was using that account illegaly to conduct government business.

FTFA:
McLeod is also seeking the release by Palin of some 1,100 e-mails the governor held back from an earlier public records request, citing executive privilege. McLeod's lawyer asserts that Palin waived that privilege by routinely copying messages to her husband, Todd, who is not a state employee.

Now, are they going to be able to do a run-around based on spousal privilege? I hope not.

FTA: "On one hand, I'm pleased that the judge saw fit to order the retrieval and preservation of these e-mails, to the extent of going to the providers to get them," said McLeod, a Republican who was formerly close to Palin. "But on the other hand, I'm amazed that I even have to go to court to get the governor to comply with Alaska's public record laws."

So how many people will either selectively look over that point, or try to portray McLeod as an Obama plant in order to continue their "partisan witch hunt" excuse?

I'm guessing at least 10

So, let me get this right:

Palin illegally used a yahoo email account to illegally try to get her brother in law fired? And is now lying about it?

Sounds like she'd fit right in with the Bush Administration.

I know that this is just me losing my sense of humor for a moment, but electing a pair of people with severe ethical violations in their past doesn't seem like a "straw" to me.

Accepting McCain's offer to run for VP may end up being the worst decision Sarah Palin ever made.

I'm thinking 3 to 1 odds she ends up being impeached and removed from the gov's office by this time next year.

some_wild-eyed_8-foot_tall_maniac 2008-10-12 06:30:12 PM
SphericalTime-

Not only that,

Superior Court Judge Craig Stowers on Friday also ordered Alaska's attorney general to recover messages from a Yahoo.com account of Palin's that was breached by hackers last month. That break-in prompted Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign to order closed at least one additional private account Palin maintained.

Yet another private address outside the Yahoo system came to light earlier this month, when The Washington Post reported that Palin, her husband and close aides established last spring e-mail accounts that were apparently known only to one another.

the McCain campaign confirmed the existence of the accounts, although it was denied by Frank Bailey, the Palin aide who company officials said set up the accounts and had the authority to administer them.

I'm sorry, but this much lying over an email account looks pret-ty fishy. What are they hiding?

Oh, but it gets better! After getting caught illegally using a yahoo email account and getting busted for unethical behavior, she ignored attempts by law abiding citizens to force her to comply with the law and turn over that email to the court. Palin will likely walk away from all this and not face any repercussions for her highly illegal and unethical actions. The hacker who DID bring her to justice will probably have the book thrown at him.

How farked up is our society when we get to a situation like this?

I doubt she'll get impeached but I bet she'll have trouble getting reelected. She appears to be just as corrupt as the politicians she claimed to be fighting against.

It's a function of our American pride. It's the same reason Ford pardoned Nixon, in my opinion. We all know he did something wrong, but if we are actually forced to formally admit it through a conviction then it dampens all the nationalistic claims we make all the time.

Does Alaska have the ability to do a gubernatorial recall?

RevMercutio: Does Alaska have the ability to do a gubernatorial recall?

I've heard that the violation of ethics can result in an impeachment process, but a particular group of people need to do it or something. I saw something that said that the council that made the findings on the investigation can't do it, but some other group could. I know I'm not getting real specific here, but that's because I don't remember the exact specifics and don't want to give the wrong name or something.

So that's what I head, but I don't know it to be correct for certain. My gut tells me it sounds right though.

In a perfect world, the book would be thrown at both.

A decade or two ago-if something like this came up, Palin would have resigned. Seriously, this is god damned embarrassing that we have people acting this way.

While Ford wanted to get past the nightmare of WaterGate and heal the country, pardoning Nixon was the worse thing to do in the long run. Nixon in a way, got off scott free. Embarrassed probably-but I'm sure he was perfectly fine living rich until the end of his days.

At the same time: While I thought Clinton never should have suffered a lawsuit while President, his refusal to resign have only bolster politicians into believing that all they have to do is dig in and wait the storm out.

And what Bush and Co. only did was to prove it.

Clinton should never have been impeached. Nor should he have resigned. There is a difference between what he lied about and what Bush, Nixon, or even Palin have lied about or done. The same goes for Kwame Kilpatrick- it wasn't that he was sleeping with his chief of staff, it was all the other scandals he was involved in.

Karl Rove must be foaming at the mouth with delight......it's like she emerged from a GOP pod as the perfect Republican. There's no pretense about this woman; she's just a complete non-intellectual with a power streak that would make Machiavelli go "you know, you might want to slow down a bit." $10 says she has an "enemies list" just like Nixon.

Anybody who was actually there when The Incident happened knows what was there. That's what's so hilarious to me. Every single damned time the media tries to cover something Anonymous does, they get it completely wrong. It's like the very premise that people engage in activity without an individual identity is impossible for the media to understand.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Frying pan = Alaska.
Fire = National politics.

Palin's a small-town politician with little to no grasp of how to behave ethically. Every single story about her, she reminds me more and more of Dancin' Homer.

Not to mention stupid. Caught using private e-mail accounts to conduct public business? Perhaps an oversight. Fool me once.

Caught creating new private e-mail accounts to continue conducting public business even after being warned? Fool me twice.

She's moved beyond plain ignorance. (Palin ignorance?) Now she's caught willfully thumbing her nose at the law and honorable behavior. She should be impeached.

So if she becomes President, does that mean that she can't tell Todd all of the super double top secret info that she will learn? Cuz that would suck to have your wife be Prez and to not get to learn about all the cool stuff and to have her keeping secrets and stuff.

How do the laws of discovery work with copied emails? Typically if you reply to an email, it will include a copy of the email you are replying to, giving someone both sides of the conversation (or more depending on how long the string is). Would all this info be admissible, or would the stuff not from SP's account be censored?
