Of course. It's impossible for the GOP to actually fail and take responsibility.

this guy only sees half the picture. The GOP wants Obama to run. After he's done completely f*cking up the country the Republicans will be back in office in 2012 and it will be a LONG time until any Dems are voted into office again. A four year sacrifice is worth it to be the party in power for the next forty years after Obama's tenure in the White House.

Those eight years under Clinton were pure hell, weren't they? Thank God the Republicans got rid of any ideological ties to conservatism and just rule by gut-checks and truthiness. That thinking brought about the Paradise we now inhabit.

FTA: "There is no other way for someone as far left as Obama to be elected without it being an inside job."

'far left as Obama'? What about as far left as President Bush? Who nationalized the housing industry? Who nationalized wall street?

I don't get it. how in the HELL can anyone on the Republican side say they're against socialism? Bush turned the Republican party socialist with his recent decisions. So saying that Obama is a socialist is rather pointless. The *Republicans* are socialist too!

I think a group of people are getting together -- in private -- and creating paranoid conspiracies.

Oh wait, I just saw one now, out of the corner of my eye...oh, he's probably hiding around the corner there, ready to foist a new conspiracy theory on the world the moment I turn my back.

Go on holiday...find a nice, quiet beach in the south pacific and listen to the soothing rhythm of the waves as they lap gently against the beautiful white sandy shore...and have a nice, cool double lithium-colada.

Why did I read that? I should have known that nothing worth reading has ever appeared on NRO.

I had to read that a couple of times, too, because I couldn't get his point.

What I got: Author was stupid and disturbed, and a very interesting writer.

That was five minutes of my life right down the toilet.

Well, to be fair, most republicans are not conservatives, in the true sense of the word.

In fact, there's only one true republican candidate for office this year.

Except, you know, it's not going to be the next president's fault for what happens in their term. Bush screwed it up so badly that 4 years of benevolent rule (at best) would not be able to fix everything.

Obama, however, can start us on the road to national healing.

You don;t get the Republican base, do you? They will ALWAYS vote republican. As an independent I can notice these things. There will always be a 49-51% rep. base.

Did you cry when you wrote that guys? Sad pathetic "we'll show them!!" tears?

I agree with Wombatzu. Not only has GWB done damage to our country's reputation that will take years to fix, he's done enough damage to his own party to last a decade. I could easily see eight years of Obama and then eight of Biden before the Repubs have a shot at the White House again.

Come on guys, it makes perfect sense:

Forty years ago the Vietnamese brainwashed McCain because they knew forty years later he would run for President. At the same time, they randomly chose a black kid to groom and mold to whom McCain could throw the race. This would allow them to take over America as revenge for bombing Hanoi.

I'll give you 5/10 on that troll. Saying that the Republicans have a permanent 49-51% base, funny. Adding the time-honoured "I'm a Fark Independent!" cliché, a nice touch.

I also like the lauding of Fred Thompson. But that's a little silly, don't you think? Probably this kind of troll would be more of a Giuliani fan.

So, only 5/10. But it's a decent start.

Not saying that the repubs won't blame Obama for all the shiat Bush started, just saying that they shouldn't. Or McCain, for that matter, if he gets a miracle. And several more miracles, how the polls have started trending recently.

Dammit, we were so close! Only four weeks til the election! We had it in the bag! But then this Mark Steyn comes along and blows the lid off the whole thing! Damn you Mark Steyn, how did you know? We (Allah's Communist Radical Network -- yes, we might as well admit it, that's what ACORN really stands for) "acquired" John McCain in 1968. Every time he gets a phone call and hears the secret code word "Maverick," another set of instructions kicks in. The most recent was to repeat "my friends" as many times as possible on national television. I'm still not sure what that was supposed to accomplish, but Boris and Quang-Duc thought it was a laugh riot, so we left it in.
