*claps* That's what I came to this thread for.

Remember, Elks are most dangerous when they're rutting...or holding bingo night.

Cool. Two elk in the parking lot, kids running wild. It was a middle school, chances are the kids would never notice the elk rampaging around.

I poop too much.

That would be pretty damn cool to see.

I wouldn't let kids anywhere near them either. Kids are stupid and mean, and I'm sure if an elk accidentally ran one down the results would not be good (assuming you liked the kid).

having grown up in Ft Collins, I have to say the most obnoxious thing I saw as a kid was the waves of "My student was a student of the month at Walt Clark Middle School" coming to shop at our mall.

I don't think you understand that an Elk in rut, is one of the most dangerous animals in NA. They would run down the kids for the fun of it.

What closes schools around the world:

Colorado: two elk fighting
Colombia: cartel activity
Israel: unexploded katyusha
Japan: robot uprising

I agree. I remember it being a relief to have unusual circumstances divert everyone's attention from the monotony of school. When every freaking day is the same is when kids lose interest in school and search for alternative activities that can be good or bad.

The plant I used to work at had a herd of deer that lived on the grounds. As no one was allowed to hunt them, they were huge and utterly fearless. They would eat the landscaping, walk down the sidewalks, and wait for security to open gates for cars so they could walk through the protected zone.

Can't imagine elk being that gutsy. Geez. Deer were annoying enough.

I used to work in Yosemite park, and ALL the animals are like that. They just look at you funny when you meet them on the trails...and go back to what they were doing, including sleeping right in the middle of traffic.

Totally obnoxious. Worst of all...the squirrels. A Yosemite park squirrel is equal parts Caddyshack gopher and New York City rat.

Meh. Total overreaction. Now if there were a couple of Shriners out there doing donuts in those little cars, then we're talking danger.

That's why it's good they reintroduced wolves. They're much more cautious now in the areas with packs.

You may very well ask what it was I came for. This reference of yours to the theory of the brontosaurus is what I came for, and also the thing for which I was coming, which is yours, and that is what it is, the reference of the brontosaurus theory that you have made. How very true, my word, yes.

A male elk is a bull and the females are cows.

That was actually similar to my first thought when I saw the picture.

Maybe the elk that that was a cow--which started the whole scuffle.

When you have a bull elk trying to make you his biatch, I don't think you care much what the proper name for the female is, as long as it isn't yours...

Someone decided several years ago that it would be a good idea if elk were allowed to populate eastern Kentucky...because you know...narrow roads, coal trucks, and drunkass people with shotguns aren't sufficient challenges--we simply must have a "Level 3" for driving off the 4 lane highways.
