The Clintons are being surplanted as the alpha couple of Democratic politics and they know it. There's probably some Democrats who won't realize it until the first time Obama drops the hammer.

Kunnich is probably a good candidate to be the one on the anvil when it happens.

Somehow I can't believe that Bill ever wanted Hillary to win. He stayed cool for 8 years as President, even during Cigar-twat-gate but lost his shiat several times talking to the press during the primaries. I can't blame him. I wouldn't want to be relegated to First Dude after being in the big chair, especially with that shrew of a wife.

Imagine how many votes he lost due to "conservative" headlines on Fark alone.

It would have been worth it to see Wes Clark, IMHO. I'm still hoping he's on the shortlist for Secretary of Defense.

I don't know if I'd want Hillary as a surrogate if I was Obama. She still has some pretty high negatives in flyover country, and could be more of a liability in the red states-- especially the ones where the Clintons were never popular.

True, that. Those would be good states, too, as there both pretty close right now.

I think that Obama's campaign strategy has been to have the Clintons STFU and stay out of the national spotlight until now. Let them quietly raise money. Now that it's the home stretch, and Obama is crushing McCain, it's time to bring out the gimps and get medieval on his ass.

She and Bill are in Scranton today - as well as Biden. The Scranton area is in the McCain camp even though both Hillary and Joe are "from" there.

This is one of those cases where, regardless of how many speeches Hillary makes (and they like her here), it will stay in the red. The place is overrun with racists and bigots.

This really strikes me more as a cry for relevance from the Clintons, rather than a necessity for Obama. They simply couldn't bear a democratic candidate without taking their piece of the credibility pie. Nothing against the clintons but the party is moving in a new direction and frankly, I don't think it includes them.

Consider how many times McCain's campaign has been considered out of this race. I know we've got, what, 23 days left? A comeback may be unlikely at this point, especially given the anger of hard-core Republicans, but this is no time to relax and coast into the White House.

Daily Kos has raised nearly $1.5 million in just two weeks, as a contrast....... Clinton only raising $10 million since June tells me either he didn't try very hard, his well of donors already contributed the max, or money is missing.

It is a big deal how much Bill has publically sabotaged the Obama campaign through (as subby puts it) his passive aggressiveness towards Obama and an Obama presidency in interviews.

Then again, maybe it's not news how bad Clinton is as a campaigner for anyone except himself; there have been jokes about it since the 2000 election.

No the Clintons do not want to help Obama. They only plan to hurt him now that he is in the lead. That is why they are suddenly there. The Clintons will cause Obama to lose. If Obama wants to win, he needs to get that poison off his stump. If Obama takes any advice from the Clintons, we will end up a socialist country. Obama should know better.

I agree with you about anti-Obama. But I don't even think that that they just need to see a woman in the White House. I think the whole HillaryIs44 site is a scam. Remember what happened at the Democratic National Convention, where the 'PUMA' ladies showed up and were vastly outnumbered by outright Republicans 'supporting' them?

Several other blogsites had already detailed how few people were making how many posts over there. That entire site is one big blue-turfing troll -- in the service of Republicans (but not conservatives).

I forgot that we were a socialist country from 1992-2000.

I'll take a budget surplus, low unemployment and a vigorous economy and not minding you calling it socialism.

/BTW, both Clintons have been campaigning for Obama already. They haven't caused him to start "losing" yet.

You mean with people checking who owns the domain and their real political connections? I wish I had the links. But yeah, that whole operation was fishy. Is fishy.

What bothers me is that they were (and still are?) collecting money in Hillary's name. What bothers me more is that Hillary had to have known that they were not on the up and up but she NEVER publically called them out or told them to cease and desist. Why?

The one with the big redhead.

Kucinich strikes me as the Democratic Congressman most likely to have an agenda at odds with Obama. For example, I could see Kucinich having an itch to thrash around investigating BushCheney shenanigans, while Obama, like most Presidents, rather just get on with his administrations shenanigans.

Has Kucinich been mentioned for any Cabinet jobs?

Please, sir, may I have some more of THIS.

They were just waiting to see how badly McCain was going to get thrashed. If it was close, they would have laid back and relaxed, but now that it's Obama's election to lose, they want to be able to say they've been there all along.

They're frontrunners, the both of them. And I think that they're in a place right now where they're feeling obsolete.

Donald_McRonald 2008-10-12 01:56:25 PM
Bill Clinton, who worked tirelessly for his wife during the primaries, seemed to take her loss more personally. Nonetheless, he gave Obama his full-throated endorsement at the Democratic convention in August

I could easily make about a dozen different jokes here, but I'll hold off.

Gangway Fathead 2008-10-12 01:58:00 PM

A minor wound that will heal with time. Politics isn't a dirty business--it's a "roll around in the outhouse trenches" filthy business, and even the most politically-oblivious among the electorate know that. They took some heat recently, but for reasons that are obvious (and understandable) to reasonable people. Most will just chalk it up to "he wanted to help his own team first" and forget about it shortly after the election.

In other words: you'll get over it.

Hillary will do just enough to be considered a team player. Then once Obama is in office, Hillary will begin her quiet campaign of helping to make his life difficult.

Given that our economy and the stability of the world in general are going to continue to decline in the coming years, she will be in good shape to make one last bid in 2012.
