Well, to be fair, Killeen is a gigantic shiathole.

No shiat.

Killeen -- home of Fort Hood -- reminds you to flush twice, it's really is a long way to the cafeteria.

It's almost always the flapper.

Does it really take a national month of recognition to teach Americans to remove an 8 year old upper decker?

Some people need to be told.

I've been within hearing distance of three commode collapses caused by people who thought that toilet tanks were made to support the weight of people standing on them.

killeen texas is a truly depressing place to live. made me want to shoot up a luby's.

/went to fairway, nolan, ellison

My toilet was built in the 1920's.
Should I replace the old flapper in there?

Truth...I used to live there. What a dump...nothing but cholos in lowriders and gang-bangers who have never shot a gun before.

Now I live in Austin...home of drunken frat boy dumarses, rednecks, tramp stamp wearing skanks, angry dykes, and tossers who wear pink shirts.

Still wondering if I am better off...

Killeen representin'!

God, I hate this town. The local Indian restaraunt (new this year) serves beef curry and chicken wings on a buffet. We just got our first decent bookstore -- a Barnes & Noble in the neighboring town. Did I mention the fire ants?

Stay away. Stay far, far away.

Don't particularly like 'em--they're noisy. But there usually isn't anything else.

My toilet is broken and permanently clogged. I have to take it up to deal with it, and replace the ring and flange. Like that disgusting job will happen anytime soon.

/really getting a kick..

Why? Does that have something to do with the war on christmas?

They need to be teaching their residents what to do when a madman drives into a Lubys and starts shooting like a mother f*cker.

"If I had a nickel for every time I've installed one of these kits..."

Theyre making them so cheap these days that they only last 6 months to a year before they need replacing again. I keep a pile of them next to the furnace filters.

Anybody know where some quality-made toilet guts can be obtained?

Permanently clogged? Bet you have a toothbrush or something else that dropped in there blocking the way.

....that'll be $120

When your town glares enviously at Killeen because they have a bunch of big box stores and chain restaurants your town does not, you might live in Temple.

/ Less of a complete shiathole than western Bell County
// But more boring
/// Ooooo! We have a Target and a Chili's now!!!

I am flushed with delight that the subby has plunged to new depths with this story.

Employees must wash hands before returning to work. All others can do whatever they like.

/Killeen blows

Killeen isn't all that bad, except for the highest burglary rate in Texas (probably the USA). But all those crackheads and tweakers need to support their habits. Hell, we got so many pawn shops, you just can't help but break into a house, steal a 500 dollar television and get 20 bucks for it.
Really, other than the drug dealers living across the streets from the high schools, and the large group of addicts hanging out on 10th street, (just 4 blocks from police headquarters), we're a lot like Detroit, but with a small town feel.
I mean, even the illegal immigrants would rather work somewhere else, so we got that going for us.

LadyMech 2008-10-12 10:41:43 AM
Don't forget rape! Killeen and Cove love to be rapin' people. And you are right about the pawn shops. It's creepy when you have pawnshops that are nearly as big as a grocery store.

\Can't wait to move out of here.

Soldiergurl74 2008-10-12 01:51:49 PM
I live I Killeen.... It doesn't suck as much as it used to... The problem with it is, no one has ownership over the city, since the majority of the residents are temporary...
The robbery rate does suck, but an alarm system, NRA yard sign and several guns have kept my house out of the mix....
/we did have a shooting and double murder at the Dollar General a couple blocks away
//still unsolved

I replaced the toilet when I was moving in. This one sat under a tree for a couple months. My theory is it's clogged with leaves...

Actually, what kind of amazes me is how the people with the jorbs that are most important to society carrying on like the people that pick up your trash, people that fix your roads, people that make sure your toilets flush, are held in such low regard, but people who are damned near worthless in terms of making society function like lawyers, wall street clowns that loose money hand over fist, actors, and musicians are held in such high regard.

ColTomParker 2008-10-12 07:04:35 PM
I used to work for this paper so these replies . . . .

The best thing come out of Killeen was the highway to Austin. Nothing but tattoo parlors and used car lots.

ColTomParker 2008-10-12 07:12:47 PM
for got to add, one cool thing, though, was the fact that the Soviet Embassy subscribed to the paper when I was there, because of the way they covered Ft. Hood. I can say I was an internationally read sportswriter, what with coverage of the 7th grade girls volleyball tournament.

I'm actually in Killeen right now, working for the Army for 3 weeks. Three weeks in Killeen gives me the heebie jeebies. I heard someone say the only reason anyone retires here is if they own a house and can't sell it. Great place to be if you want a tattoo, lap dance, gold teef, or want to pawn something, though.

/Makes Kansas look like paradise.

Hate to admit it, but I'm a Fairway alum myself. Ended up at Killeen HS for a year before my old man transferred back to Ft. Sam. Hood was a RUDE awakening after having spent three years in Heidelberg.

/was there during the Luby's shooting
//I confirm the shiathole status
///loathe public schools to this day

Well good musicians music will live on forever, so I wouldn't call that worthless to society. You do make a good point, but when was the last time the whole nation hated plumbers? Everyone wants to kill a wall steet douche, but the trash guys aren't on anyone's shiatlist.
