85% McCain. No Surrender.

40% Obama. No We Can't.

Since a lot of both quizzes had to do with personal histories, and I've had years to study McCain's personal history, I'm not surprised that I tanked the personal Obama questions and did well on the Obama policy questions.

queezyweezel 2008-10-12 12:21:43 AM
Heh, I got 75% on McCain and 60% on Obama. Know your enemy!

Who the hell is this Obama guy anyway?

Dan the Schman [TotalFark] 2008-10-12 12:54:18 AM
The personal questions weren't even similar.

I was expecting questions about Obama's grandfather's service, or his achievements at Harvard... instead it asked about his farking shoes?

I guessed on some, but I feel like there is no way that I should have known that Obama was discussing abandonment issues with some friend of his waaaaay back in the day. There was a lot of fan-boy stuff in there.

Wow, I totally suck. I should try to remember more stuff...McCain 45%, Obama 25%. Though I did get most of the platform stuff correct, and I didn't really care about a lot of the answers (types of shoe worn, mode of transportation) so I'm not too upset. But still...I really failed!

Ok, given the responses for "On what other issues has McCain at times broken with the Republican establishment?".

Aren't those all things that he has since changed his stance on?

McCain 65%
Obama 50%

How do you answer McCain's questions like what religion is he and his position on Roe v Wade when he changes his positions?

Is he Baptist or Episcopalian today? Is he for Roe v Wade or is he against it right now?

Which is not one of Obama's fiscal plans...push for line-item veto? He already has that! It must be something else....

Yeah, I got that question wrong... I'm not sold on why I should even remotely care about what kind of shoes Obama wore 20 years ago. I love shoes. But they're so far from being relevant in a political campaign. Especially decades-old fashion choices. Don't care.

I don't even remember if I got that one right. Just assumed it was the Doc Martens (don't think that was the choice but the similar ones). This quiz seemed to want to prove that Obama had less experience by asking inane questions about him.

No, he was legacied in to the naval academy, and then he used his father's and grandfather's name and influence to get transferred to combat and keep flying even after he crashed several planes.

Sort of similar to George W. Bush's pattern of nepotism and screwups, except apparently, G.W. was a better pilot.

The President doesn't have line-item veto powers. Rudy Giuliani sued Clinton and the Supreme Court ruled that line-item veto power to the President was unconstitutional.

75% McCain. I didn't know that he smoked, or what his policy on guns or health care was. Also, I thought he missed the torture vote, not voted against it.

He, no, that is why I despise him. He talked about how torture was bad...and then voted for it. He reminded me of Spector. Talk a big game and then cave. Yeah, Pennsylvania, stop electing him!!

Probably not political reasons. He's been attending a Baptist church for years. He says the reason is simply because the message fits his beliefs better. My guess is because his wife attended there, so he joined along and liked it.

Sabyen91: Why would he switch to Baptist? Political reasons?

Probably. There's a lot of doubt that he's even really a believer. He doesn't talk about his faith much because he doesn't really seem heavily invested in it. Unless he starts talking all of the sudden, I don't see much other reason than that it's just a political move of some kind to reach out to evangelicals.

I think his implication was that the guy can already go through with a red pen and send the budget back saying "you'll have to change this before I stop vetoing" ... and then have his effective power reduced significantly for the rest of his term when they roll right over him and pass it by 2/3 anyhow. But still, he can already attempt something like a line-item veto.

Give W some credit: Whenever he drove a company into the ground, he pulled a profit. It wasn't that he was an idiot, it was that he wanted money and was willing to drive other people into the ground to get it.
