this is her best qualification for being santa since we discovered she can see the north pole from her house.

What's most important is that the Rangers scored four goals in the first period.

No idea WTF they were thinking. She should have at least picked a red state to do this in, like Tennesee.

It's hard to make out on the YouTube but for those who watched it live it was almost all booing at first, to which they responded by cranking up the music to drown it out.

They were just saying "Boooon", short for "Boondocks", which was a huge shoutout to all the small towns and Main Streets of America. She's going to win in a landslide against those Big-City liberal elitists.

Listen to the audience before they announced Palin and after they announced Palin.. The former is what cheering sounds like, the latter is what booing sounds like.

"Booed off the ice?" That's funny patheticmitter. There's a mix of boos and cheers there from what I hear and see.

oldernell [TotalFark] 2008-10-11 08:53:23 PM
I have a friend who was a punter for the Eagles. He hit a bad one one day and got booed out of the stadium. A policeman came to him in the locker room afterward and told him he was ther to escort him to his car. When he answered he didn't need that, the policeman answered "Yes you do. We've had death threats." Next week he was NFL punter of the week.

Actually, they were saying "Moooose", which is not only a shout-out to Palin, it's a taunt to Ranger fans for the fact that Messier's gone.

It would've wiped out the visiting team, who by definition was NOT a Philadelphia team. They wouldn't have deserved it.

/no idea who was the visitor at the last game at the Vet

Sometimes sacrifices have to be made, when we're trying to do good for mankind. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been the Redskins.

In that case, maybe the SHOULDA imploded the place during the final game.

Especially if John Rocker was on the mound.

NY Baseball fans at game:
Fan #1: BOO! Your mother sucks, your father sucks, your sister sucks...
Fan #2: Hey, hey...be quiet and let the lady finish the damn anthem, OK?

That actually seemed pretty tame for Philadelphia. I've heard some boos at Phillies games that scared the heck out of me.

The booing of Palin (and her young daughter)

They were saying "huuu-er".

UNC_Samurai [TotalFark] 2008-10-11 09:29:37 PM
I'll be the first to admit I give Philly fans a lot of shiat about their behavior, but I have to admit they are better at refraining from throwing things on the field than, say, Browns fans.

jerry2a 2008-10-11 09:29:52 PM
I wonder if they'll photoshop those signs out - I'm sure they'd love to use this photo on McCain's website.

Phillies fans wouldn't have told the heckler to shut up, they'd have joined.

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, "How dare they boo Piper!"

Can you attend ONE event without dragging your kids along? You're running for office - not them.

King Something: /To all the Farkers not from the Northeast Corridor.... Have you noticed a slight bit of animosity between New York sports fans and Philadelphia sports fans?

There's actually quite a bit of mutual respect and admiration between the New York and Philly fans. Here's an example of a common exchange often heard between them:

"I say, I believe the Phillies suck, do you agree?"
"No, I must strongly object - it is the Mets that suck. They exude great suckage."
"Well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree"
"Perhaps we should discuss it further - I think I could possibly be swayed to seeing things your way"
