why don't they just count the ballots before nov 4 and hold the results?

why count them late?

Obama will have already won outright by the time they're done counting. Maybe OH will be tight enough to be swung by these votes but he won't need it at that point.

Hopefully Obama is putting away some of his fund raising money for legal expenses.

The best we can hope for is that both sides' cheaters manage to balance each-other out. As the good Al Davis once said, 'if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying'. At least this year the commie pinkos are trying right along with the neo-con theocrats.

Heh. I like how the article phrases it:

FTA: Barack Obama has been warned that he might have to wait until 10 days after the presidential election before finding out if he has won, if the contest is close, because of chaos counting the votes in key swing states.

Not "The candidates might have to wait," or something. It will only be Obama that needs warning "if it's close" to find out if he won.

As though if it is close, they might just give it to McCain anyway.

UNC_Samurai [TotalFark] 2008-10-11 05:45:49 PM
There will be 200,000 to 300,000 voting in OH, PA, FL and MI.

And the way the map is moving, Obama won't need any of those states to reach 270. VA, NC, WV, IN, MO, CO - if half of those states vote Obama, the RNC should accept the fact they ran a piss-poor campaign.

That's because the warning was coming from a former Kerry and Gore advisor.

It happened in 2000.

According to my Ohio absentee ballot, my vote will be counted on Nov. 4th as long as its received by Nov. 3. If it arrives after the election, it will be counted on the 14th. Subby is full of shiat.

If it's anything like 2004 they'll mostly be voting for Obama. And if this election is anything like 2008, Obama will win these states outright before the extra Canadian/UK votes need to be counted.

I sent off for my ballot two months ago and still haven't received it. Of course we had a week and some days off for Ramadan so the mail is behind but I'm getting a bit worried. I guess I'll print out a federal emergency ballot like I did four years ago.

Sent off my VA ballot last week. It's nice to actually be in a swing state for once and have my vote serve a purpose besides being a cathartic release.

Also, using 270towin.com, I've determined that we'll probably see Obama with over 270 EVs by 11 pm eastern time on election day, as long as all of the poll closing times from 2004 remain the same and Colorado and Nevada go to Obama.

/I can't see Colorado and Nevada possibly going to McCain at this point.

Resident Board of Elections guy here. If your ballot is late, give your local BoE a call; they'll be able to tell you if the app was received/if the ballot's in the mail, depending on what database program they use.

I wonder how many Fark Independents spend their evenings reading Andrew MacDonald now a-days?

There is a chance the Wingnuts in this Country will actually start a revolution. If it happens, I am done, I live in a hicktown... guns, God, and bitterness. Ugh. I hope it is just the result of 36 hours of no sleep.

This. Of the four key states in this election (FL, OH, VA and CO), VA is where Obama is polling the best. All he needs is a win in one of these places, while McCain needs to win all four.

Hopefully it won't be close and we won't have to wait for the results.

I think this is gonna be a turning point for America. After 35 years of division, we will be united in facing the challenges ahead. Yes we can. Yes we can.

Now is not the time to be angry. Look at the difference between an Obama rally and a McCain rally. McCain told his follows "I know you are angry, I am angry".

The Obama rallies are uplifting, positive with hope for the future, as long as we work together. I am looking forward to days waking up enthused to work for our children's future.

I hope the Christian of Republican party will ask themselves, WWJD? I am sure his answer would not be "get angry, act on anger"

Every time I hear "He's a muslim" or "He's an arab" or "What kind of name is "Hussein" or any other bits of inanity that comes out of these people, I realize that the question is wrong.

It is not WWJD?

It is WWJDIHWRM? (what would jesus do if he was really me)

I really think if I have to hear anyone even begin to utter any of that crap around me, I'm going to just explode.

Every time I hear it, I think of two people: This sweet little woman I work with who is supporting her family on her own and my boss, who treats my daughter like her niece. And inside, I feel myself apologizing for the hate and bigotry.

What is wrong with being:

1. Muslim?
or
2. from a middle eastern country?

I really hope things improve.

I'm not talking about the economy.

I'm talking about so-called Christians and so-called God Fearing AmericansTM getting their heads out of their asses.
