I wouldn't change my vote because any musician told me to.

That being said, I'd go see that show.

Also, that being said, I'm voting Obama. Hell, I'd go see that show if I were voting Ron Paul.

What's wrong with these people?
They are traitors to their country for encouraging young people to vote.

I'm John McCain and I approve this message

Fk that...leave politics for the true artists, like David Zucker.

His movie is a huge hit with "real Americans" right?

Oddly enough, most of these arrogant musicians have contracts with huge recording companies, whose basic agenda is to discourage people from voting, so their lobbyists will be even more influential.

You actually CAN make a change, cynicalmitter, bt voting -- a right not enjoyed by corporations, only by citizens.

I'm waiting for some country music stars tell me who to vote for before I make up my mind.

What is so arrogant about wanting to change this f*cked up country and using any influence you might be lucky enough to have to try and do so? The fact that the majority of this country's population is too self-absorbed to turn their gaze from their own navels and even try to change the smallest of our problems is the real arrogance.

If they want to harangue people with their political beliefs, they should have to do what the rest of us do and post on message boards.

As much as I love The Clash, The Headstones, and the Dead Kennedys, if I had to hear a soundtrack in my head the rest of my life from only one band, it would be the Beastie Boys.

Devo and The Black Keys are playing a benefit show in Akron this Friday night for the Summit County Democratic Party. Civic Theater for those interested.

Okay. So by that standard, anyone who works or volunteers for a campaign, is arrogant? Because they think they might have an effect?

Hater much?

I have been saying that anyone who looks at any political event with a decent musician as an opening act yet still thinks the size of the crowd reflects the politician's popularity is insane. Give a fan a chance to see a free show and they'll put up with an awful lot.

Of course I wonder how many of these "get out the vote" celebrities will actually vote themselves? Let us not forget, for example, when Ben Affleck did an interview with GQ including a lot of political commentary, and a desire to run for the Senate, and then couldn't vote in the election because he just assumed anyone could go in to any polling place anywhere in the country and vote. Had no idea a California resident couldn't vote in New York.

Exactly this. God damn them people actually using their fame for a very important message. Wake up people. And for the "they're signed to majors gah gahh blah" Yeah, they contracted with a major corp. to get their material to as many fans as possible. That must mean everyone is a sick, crooked, money grabbin' GOP representative right? Jags.

Beastie Boys are one of the greatest live acts I've seen, especially when they're with full instrumentation.

However, I have no interest in seeing anyone else named in the article. Santogold is one of the worst acts I've seen, actually.

Think global, act local.

Devo will probably do some good. Beastie Boys, not so much.

Musicians do have an influence on their fans, whether you like it or not. Voting has to be made to seem "cool."

Kind of like McCain and his rabid audience? I get it... in order to be able to go to a concert and buy into what the musicians say (because we all know musicians make better decisions than anyone who is not, pops), you have to be a simpleton and not be able to think for yourself.

It all makes sense now.

At least they are getting folks to vote ...

It's just another "Swing From Obama's Nutsack" tour.

I don't need voting tips from a bunch of VH1 garbage, myself. Thanks.

That is too bad, I like most of her album. Wifey D and I were debating last night if it would be worth the tradeoff to see all those other acts to see the beastie boys. the correct answer turned out to be yes.

anyone notice the cameo in the MIA paper planes video? did they write that song for her, there are all sorts of b-boy style rhymes in there.

/finally figured out who makes the crack its
//the suckers with the badges and the blue jackets
