He must've been reading Fark threads telling him he better reign in his legion of drones. It seems that that it is too late to try to back, peddle out of this, and he has created a large group of monsters that just might eat their own alpha.

A woman at the town hall asks softly: "I've heard that Sen. Obama is an Arab."
McCain quickly cuts the woman off.
"No, maam. He's a decent family man and citizen," McCain says. "He's not. Thank you."

if that is true, that is some farked up shiat.

he's talking out of both sides of his mouth. in the same speech he will call Obama a friend of terrorists then say he's a good guy. wtf?

You really think it's his HONOR and not the negative press that he's worried about? If he were honorable he wouldn't have allowed this crap in his campaign in the first place.

Every day of this campaign I'm reminded more and more of why I hate American politics. All I've heard these past eight years is nothing but fear and hatred from both sides.

You might more mean Shakespeare, as he wrote that particular speech of Mark Antony's.

Julius Caesar,Act 3, scene 2.

But still a good point, nonetheless.

Perhaps I can offer an analogy here.

As a comedian, there are times when my audience just isn't getting me. This is called bombing, in comedy parlance.

My options when this happens are:

1. Stick with my smart material hoping I can bring the audience along
2. Cut the set short and call it a night, or
3. Switch to hack poop, fart, dick and racial stereotype jokes appealing to the lowest common denominator in the audience

I'm not proud of saying that I have, on rare occasion, allowed panic to get the best of me and opted for #3.

The ensuing problem is that you pretty much ruin the rest of the show for other comedians and, worse, you now have a group of mouthbreathers who think you are now one of them.

And you feel dirty because you compromised yourself for that momentary "success."

Welcome to option #3, McCain. The racist, homophobic, uneducated, fantical, knuckledragging detritus of the right wing now thinks you are one of them.

Shower all you want. It doesn't wash off easily.

Coco LaFemme [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 07:26:35 PM
The only reason John McCain is backing off his latest platform is that he is starting to feel the fires of hell on his feet for it. No more, no less. He didn't tell those people they were wrong because he fundamentally believes them to be wrong. He told them they were wrong because it makes for good TV.

"Oh look, the MavrickTM is being benevolent and gracious. We must vote for him."

McCain has been to this party enough times to know how to charm the panties off the hostess.

I wouldn't say he has his honor. Maybe he has a sliver of his integrity left, but honor? No... that's going too far. In fact, I'm not even certain he has the sliver of integrity really considering he probably would have stuck with the terrorist shiat until election day if had worked for him. In other words, I don't believe anything he says and automatically assume he is saying what he says because he hopes it will help him win the election.

Hibno 2008-10-10 07:37:05 PM
I am glad he is starting to try and settle them down, but HE is the one who let the corrupt assholes run his campaign, HE is the one who dragged this race into the mud, and HE was the one who sold out to the far right. It's to little too late.

And good analogy, Howie.

if he has any honor left - which i seriously doubt - he'll actually suspend his character attacks and get palin to suspend hers while asking for right-leaning 527s to do the same. he and obama need to be debating issues, not bill ayers or john singlaub.

No way. That woman (from behind) looked like the Crazy Cat Lady from the Simpsons, and her Simple (Jack) speech pattern of short choppy sentences seem too authentic.

As others have pointed out, it's too little too late to salvage his integrity.

If he had any, he would have never allowed his surrogates and his VP choice to run their idiot mouths and try to connect Obama with terrorism and being "different" and "not like us."

Hillary did the same thing in the primaries when she refused to biatchslap Willie on his subtle race-baiting.

You lay down with dogs, you get fleas.

My thoughts?

He knew this was going on, he incited it, and he would've kept going if he wasn't called on it a thousand times over. Throw in the fact that it's not helping his numbers, and it's a very calculated move.

Maybe the guy was one of Obama's fake Republican agitators. That's his latest ploy to knock down McCain. I'm not buying into it and will be on the lookout for these numbnuts tomorrow in Davenport.

I look at the current sad state of Great Britain and realize tonight that in four years, their fate will be our own, a socialist nation in decline allowing administration of Sharia law.

and for the icing:

YOU GET A GRIP! WE HAVE A WAR HERO WHO WAS DUMB ENOUGH TO VOLUNTEER TO BE NEUTERED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS!!

HE'S GETTING WALKED ALL OVER WHILE OBAMA RUNS DISPICABLE ADS FILLED WITH LIES!

WE GOT A MAN WHO HAS ABSOLUTELY NO farkING GUTS AT ALL!

YOU SEE OBAMA OUT THERE SHYING AWAY AND NOT ATTACKING?! HE'S OUT THERE LABELING MCCAIN AN ERRATIC OLD MAN WHO WE CAN'T TRUST!!!!

The campaign could have easily known what she was going to ask and allowed her to do it.

Again, I'm usually not a cynical conspiracy nut, but this campaign has repeatedly limboed below the low expectations I have for them. I put nothing past them at this point.

Those were my thoughts when I watched the video.

He gets both crowds now: the bigot, racist, haters will focus on "terrorist" and the middle-of-the-road undecideds will think McCain is being decisive and in control.

Pretty much what I was getting at too.

Hypothetically speaking... let's say he actually does believe Obama is a decent guy and that he just has differences of opinion on some things. Let's say that he was against the whole bullshiat brigade thing his campaign has been into recently. Even that looks bad for him. If he can't control and lead his own campaign, what does that say for his ability to lead the country?

On the flip side, any time Obama's campaign has gotten a little out of line or a little over the top, Obama has put a stop to it immediately. His campaign has quickly followed his lead in every instance that I've seen. By the same measure, that would mean Obama is demonstrating that he can lead a campaign effectively, which to me shows that he could lead the country as well.

Which is exactly what I expect out of this campaign. Its lack of integrity and vision is, luckily for America, exceeded by its incompetence.

Only the brainwashed believe Obama is a decent person, going to reform education while his kids attend private school, going to do so much when he has done so little. Liar, thug and terrorist. That is what Obama is and if there is proof that he is not a terrorist, let's see it.

I've been around politics, local, state and federal, for 20 years and the Obama/Biden campaign is the most efficient, polished, disciplined organization I have ever seen.

I have first hand experience in that I am volunteering for the campaign in Nevada in early November and the level of coordination in setting up my trip is unlike any I've ever seen.
