He wants Obama to throw his hands up and say, "OK, your wife's a pill popping thief and a homewrecker to boot," and then have the conservative media (followed quickly by the lapdogs elsewhere) piss themselves over what a jerk Obama is. That's all.

Exactly...he's just trying to provoke Obama at this point. The negative campaigning is starting to hurt him - he isn't going to improve his favorables very much but if he can get Obama to lower his then maybe that helps him.

I almost wouldn't care at this point if Obama just said "screw it" and let McCain/Palin have it with every bit of dirt you know they've already dug up about them. You want character? BAM!

I hope that once Obama beats McCain down in Nov that he just gets straight ghetto after the inauguration and verbally biatchslaps the entire McCain family.

You know Obama can't win with this right now...this stuff will largely be ignored by the media - but if he hits back at Cindy it will be on Fox News 24/7 for the next 3 weeks. But I agree with you - I would love for Obama to buy a ton of ads for election night - and start running them after it's pretty much too late. Just pound McCain and Palin into a pulp. I know Obama's a better man than me and he won't do it.

Agreed. Obama's best course is to say: "We aren't going to be distracted by this stuff. We are going to focus on the economy and the war and the issues. The American people deserve better." And if Obama loses because he wanted to talk about the economy and the war and the issues, then America deserves what it gets.

The attack on Michelle came on a McCain conference call with reporters this afternoon featuring John Murtagh, who has been hitting Obama over the Weather Underground's attack on his family's home back in 1970.

John M. Murtagh is a lying piece of shiat.

What the hell is wrong with the media for giving credibility to this asshole's claim that the Weather Underground were responsible for the firebombing of his family's home in 1970?

He made this story up in April of 2008.
There is not one shred of evidence that the Weather Underground had any involvement, because they had no involvement.
Murtagh himself never made this claim until he needed ammunition for the Obama smear campaign.

The Black Panthers is not the Weather Underground. They were separate organizations with completely different goals.

It's really a shame the Black Panthers weren't successful at eliminating this piece of shiat from the earth when they had the chance.

Today's polls show just how effective McCain's last ditch poo-flinging is....for Obama.

Florida and Ohio are polling solidly Obama at this point, where they were still tossups two or three weeks ago. Today's tossups are North Carolina (hasn't voted for a Democrat since 1976) and Virginia (even longer!).

Keep flinging poo, McCain. Obama supporters appreciate it.

The attack? Bernardine Dohrn, Ayers' wife and fellow former Weatherman, went to work in 1984 for the major Chicago-based national law firm of Sidley & Austin, and three years later, Michelle joined the mega-firm as well.

Sidley & Austin is one of the largest, most highly rated, best-known law firms in the world. Its big-name lawyers are highly influential, and it has a stable of clients that is the envy of virtually any firm, and that includes damn near all of the top financial players in the world. It's definitely one of the main go-to firms in the world of highly sophisticated business and financial transactions. So, McCain's camp is now saying that anybody who currently or formerly worked at Sidley pals around with terrorists? That includes a pretty enormous pool of heavy-hitters--almost certainly including far more Republicans than Democrats.

This is way beyond absurd.

He was rating all the woman that walked by, (TO HIS WIFE!). Talking about how much he liked asian girls, and just generally acting like an asshole. Also, considering how evil Palin'n co are trying to make the first dude look to absolve widdle miss Pawin of trooper gate, do they REALLY wanna start focusing on significant others, between the pill thieving whore and the traitorous perjuring power abuser, the best they have is that the black man's wife is black and worked in the building of the wife of someone?

there's also this...
Late Update: To clarify, we don't know that the McCain campaign vetted Murtagh's statement attacking. But it was made on a campaign conference call, and it constitutes the McCain campaign's official position until the McCain campaign says otherwise.
which appears to give the official mccain campaign a chance to 'correct' it. let's see if that happens

You know, Barack has run a respectful and 99% positive campaign thus far. But you don't fark with a man's wife. I'm not saying that he should go full metal jacket on McCain, but I don't expect him to just let this sit without comment. It's one thing to direct all your ire and anger and deluded lies at the candidate, but then you go after his wife and the mother of his children? WTF? I think Old Man McCain has finally popped his clogs. Either that or Trig Palin is coming up with his campaign strategies because this shiat is retarded.

You're going to lose, Johnny Maverick. Okay? You aren't going to win unless there's another terrorist attack or someone kills your opponent. It must suck that death is the only way you'll find yourself in the White House, but blame your butt buddy Bush on why that is.

Unfortunately for McCain, Virginia is pretty solidly blue at this point. We're getting to the point where states like Georgia, Montana, and South Dakota are in play.

Exactly...he's just trying to provoke Obama at this point. The negative campaigning is starting to hurt him - he isn't going to improve his favorables very much but if he can get Obama to lower his then maybe that helps him.

It helps to remember the Republicans are playing to lose. The economy and war on terror are in such a state, the next president is almost guaranteed to fail.

Who ever wins in 2008 is expected to fail so horribly, who ever the other party throws up on 2012 is a lock to win.

Take, for example, the selection of Palin. McCain is a one term pres due to age and health. Even if he wins a run for reelection is unlikely to succeed. Palin, as VP, would be the presumptive nominee, in 2016 if not 2012. Does anyone on either side think she is 4 years away from being the Republican nominee for president?

McCain himself acknowledged this early in the primaries. He said he expected all his plans would take less than 4 years to implement.

So now the plan is, if not to win the election, then to stir up so much FUD, muddy the waters, to make the political climate so bad for Obama, nothing will get done.

Sure, the Dems will have the White House and Congress, but not the supermajority needed to get actually get bills to the point where the voting happens.
