I'm shocked, what excellent timing.

Hopefully nobody will ask her any tough questions, like what is her favorite newspaper.

Cubansaltyballs [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:07:56 PM
Im sure by then nobody will have decided who they are going to vote for, and her appearance will immediately erase Obama's 15 point lead

I hear she is going to be a Conehead.

I wonder if Fey will agree to do it?

I'm sure SNL will be fair, unbiased and not make any attempt to make Palin look even more braindead.

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:10:47 PM
I'd like to see her debate herself.

Then the audience could vote as to which one was Sarah and which one was Tina ;)

Actually, if she fares well and does the usual "celeb cameo" thing, it might give her a tiny bump. But, there is then the fact that she is putting her political career in the hands of SNL and could wind up looking like a loony-toon.

So Obama will address the nation in a 30-minute special about the nation's future and she'll be pulling gags on a comedy show? She's just trying to suck the last bit of celebrity out of this run. It's a bow-out, a concession.

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:12:46 PM
At least SNL will be funny that week.

Not funny "Ha ha!" of course, but funny "Oh my God! What the hell?"

drnugget [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:12:49 PM
put her ass on the daily show.

Jamespoon [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:13:01 PM
Oh that should put them over the top.

vs. Obama's 30 min primetime slots? Score one for McPOW & friends.

screechingbitermonkey [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:13:37 PM
SNL will be very very careful not do anything that might play into the McCain -Palin campaign's sense of butthurt over Palin being made fun of.

Sarah's probably just using it as an audition to become Tina's stunt-double, since her career in politics is essentially over.

She won't memorize any lines, she'll just look into the camera and talk to the American people... and wink at me... again.

Why? When you whine about how late night comedians portray you, you look like an idiot, and don't give the American people confidence in your ability to lead.

Gerald Ford, btw, learned this the hard way.

mattharvest [TotalFark] 2008-10-10 01:23:09 PM
So, how awesome would it be if whichever actors are in the sketch just stop their 'comedy' and start drilling her on the real questions?

Comedians out-journalism'ing journalists would be fantastic.

Holy crap, that would be perfect.
She'd do a little Ashlee Simpson jig and bolt off stage!

I'm sure this will increase Gov. Palin's popularity ratings, since the liberal elitist big-city comedians on SNL will most certainly rein in their most biting snark and will treat her with the respect and the defference that......

The only direction I can see a joke going is the "golly-gee, aw-shucks, dontchaknow, hockey-mom" angle, which Sarah herself is proud of. Or, a bit more risky, she'll be giving Fey pointers on how to do a proper imitation, but I doubt that Sarah can be that self-deprecating.

Man, the writers will really be painted into a corner.

Why would she have to? Fey's dialog is pretty much taken verbatim anyway, just use the real deal.

How about if they just asked her a couple of questions about the issues in this election - to make her not make any sense and look very confused.

They could ask her to name some of the cast members on SNL and she'd still end up not making any sense and looking very confused.

Or, they can have her read a transcript from one of her interviews.

They could ask her what day the show appeared on, what time of day it appeared, and how long it takes them to air after taping

Words can not describe how awesome that would be. Especially if they did it during Weekend Update (do they still do that? I haven't watched in a while) She'd either have to stay up there and flail about it, or she'd run off stage looking like a child.

SNL: "What is your favorite sketch?"
Palin: "Oh, I like all of them. Any of them I enjoy."
SNL: "Which ones specifically? Can you name one?"
Palin: "Oh, I like all of them. Any of them I enjoy."
SNL: "Can you name one, though? Out of the countless sketches we have?"
Palin: "Oh, I like all of them. Any of them I enjoy."

burndtdan: deja vu

Yeah, but, Clinton went on SNL before the epic sketch where they had Hillary Clinton claiming she should get the nomination because she's a sore loser and her supporters are racist. Before that most of the depictions of her were pretty favorable.

I haven't heard too much from her about her "love" of SNL since that one.

The thing is this time, Palin has been nothing but scathed by SNL for being a fundie dingbat, so, it will be interesting to say the least.

Not only do they still have Weekend Update, they just did a 30-min special last night (aired after The Office) of just Weekend Update. I haven't watched it, so I don't know the quality, but that sketch is consistently the second best part of a typical episode (behind Samberg's latest digital short that week). Of course, the Palin skits have been the best parts the last few weeks. No one beats Tina Fey.

Great! She's going to show up on a sketch comedy show! That should be funny!
