Hey now... those tests have been widely shown to be biased towards people that and read and comprehend words, with a strong bias towards full sentences.

I've seen lots of 'shops in my day. You can tell by the pixels.

Sounds a bit high, actually.

Eh, I didn't do too much better on the verbal myself from what I recall (I think around 450-460), although I'm not near thinking I should run for VP.

/720 on the Math tho.

Why on earth would high school grades and SAT scores be retained for over 25 years?

Well, she did have to go to school after school after school after school after school to get her degree in journalism (and learn about "gotcha" questions.)

I took the SAT's back at around the same time that Gov. Palin did. I can tell you that the whole thing was chock-full-o gotcha questions.

The current SAT has a writing component as well, so I hope you're joking.

If this isn't fake, why won't she release her real SAT scores? What is she hiding?

/Betcha she was born in Kenya as a Muslim too.

Is stuff like this really necessary? What's next: "Sarah Palin parked in a handicapped spot on August 21, 1987!!" Give me something of substance about their stances on the issues that affect our lives, not how good/bad of a person they are or were 25 years ago. This goes for both sides and shouldn't be that difficult of a concept for both campaigns to grasp.

some_wild-eyed_8-foot_tall_maniac 2008-10-10 01:20:05 PM
Here's a link to the full document this came from.

Anyone feel like checking out the evidence for corroboration? There are VINs and other stuff that some well-connected Farker might be able to verify.

And if this IS real, I'd like to state for the record that this woman is pathetic, and shouldn't be anywhere near national politics.

I've been trying to, but I'm having a difficult time finding evidence. One thing I have seen online is people claiming to have taken the SAT in the 70s, and their scores were rounded off to the nearest 10. I haven't been able to find verification of when that change took place though.

ChiliBoots: Why on earth would high school grades and SAT scores be retained for over 25 years?

I guarantee you that my mom will have all that crap well after 25 years after I took the test.

some_wild-eyed_8-foot_tall_maniac 2008-10-10 01:27:08 PM
TheXerox- I'm not trying to start an argument, but don't you think that it's fair to ask that our government consist of the best minds we can get? Failing that, is "above average" too much to ask?

Good grades in high school can be an indicator that a person began taking personal accomplishment seriously early on in life. IQ certainly isn't the end-all of measurement devices, but having an IQ of 83 (significantly below average) does mean something when it comes to making decisions that will affect the lives of 300 million citizens. At least, that's how I see it.

Everybody knows that SAT's have a liberal bias.

I didn't overanalyze it. Sorry, I'm not an expert on how the current SAT forms look. It's just there's a lot of rounded edges and that "clean sleek" look that they just didn't have time for in the early eighties.

Also, if you're right in saying the current SAT has a writing portion, then that's what the value "38" next to "416" Math might be attributed to (it's too blurry to make out).

So, if it does have a writing score on it, it's probably fake.

It is a fake. As someone pointed out on Wonkette, her "SSN" starts with 574. This is the code for someone born in Alaska. Being the Governor of Alaska, this would make sense, except that she was born in Idaho. Her SSN should actually start with a 518 or 519.

mesmer242: One thing I have seen online is people claiming to have taken the SAT in the 70s, and their scores were rounded off to the nearest 10.

Final SAT scores were, if I recall, a multiple of 10, but I'm pretty sure that the raw scores for math and verbal were calculated to the 1s place. The national averages are listed to the 1s place, but that could just be a function of mean calculations.

I can't really check my own for verification unfortunately, because I scored a round number for both sections.

Found some proof this is not what it claims to be:
http://www.collegeboard.com/research/pdf/200211_20702.pdf

On page 11 of the pdf (page 6 in the paper), there is a line that says: For about 30 years, the last digit of the three-digit score has been fixed at zero. Earlier, a full three-digit score was reported. The decision to fix thelast digit at zero was made to discourage test-takers and score users from making arbitrary distinctions among students with virtually identical test scores, distinctions that could not be justified on the basis of the number of questions used to assess the students' mathematical or
verbal proficiency.

The paper was written 2002, and they were talking about a study they did in the early 90s. Either way, the switchover in scores should have been long changed by 1981.

I hate to break it to you, but back in the olden days you didn't get a SSN at birth. My SSN is not from the state I was born in because I didn't get one until I was 14.

Try another path.

The first three digits indicate where the number was assigned, not where the applicant was born. Not everyone is assigned a SSN when they're born. A lot of people get them later in life.

I brought that up in another thread that got redlit, and apparantly back when people had onions on their belts, SSNs weren't given out until people needed them for work, ie, in their teens.

I teach SAT courses, and get to see what SAT score sheets look like occasionally. It's nothing like that image anymore. If that's a fake, which it very well might be, they faked it off an old form.

You're right, I just assumed that was the case. Just now, I also read that she had moved to Alaska as an infant, so it is very possible she had it issued there.

some_wild-eyed_8-foot_tall_maniac 2008-10-10 01:43:26 PM
OK, according to the leaked report for the Alaska Democrats, those are the first 5 digits of her SSN.

I took my SATs in 1990 and that form is exactly like mine. I pulled it out of an old drawer to check. We had scores that end with zero, though.

Solid State Vittles 2008-10-10 01:50:54 PM
It's so obviously fake. Alaskan is her best language, not English.

NeverDrunk23 2008-10-10 01:52:03 PM
We didn't need her SAT scores to tell us that she doesn't have everything working up there. We got that idea after she opened her mouth the first time.

Hahahaha! Sarah Palin's stoopid strikingly average. Wait, we already knew that.

Nice try. I took the SATs (600, 740) in 1983 and the results looked pretty much the same.
