"Liberals who might actually be inclined to support a welfare check such as this are already going to vote for Barack Obama, and conservatives, who view this as irresponsible and even apostasy, are turned off by it," Lewis said. "This is both bad policy and bad politics."

Ooooh...yeah, poor choice of words.

I've been adrift in a lifeboat for quite some time now, but I'll kick out the bottom and drown before letting any of them in the boat with me.

FTFA: "Fundamentally, the problem is John McCain accepts a lot of liberal notions, unfortunately. There is somewhat of a populist streak," he said. "Most conservatives really did not like the bailout to begin with, and this was really kind of picking at the scab."

This guy has a pretty skewed definition of liberal.

I can just see her casting a vote for Obama now... nope.

Okay, I can just see her sitting at home on Nov. 4 hoping McCain pulls out a win... yeah, no.

Alright I got it, I can just see her voting for McCain no matter what... yeah, I think that's the one.

From the conservative dictionary:

Liberal: Anything Bush didn't do.

I don't know, Obama's ship is dead ahead to an iceberg and they can't shift course.

I may need to buy a four year supply of KY.

This is the only intelligent piece I've eve seen from her...

"I just have to rely on the good judgment of the voters not to buy into these negative attack ads. Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future or you're not ready to articulate it."
-- John McCain, 2000

GOP is gonna let Obama win in 08, knowing it will take at least 10 years to fix this mess. They will claim it was possible in 4, and that will be the standard of their '12 campaign against an incumbent Obama that has not done the impossible.

I've actually though it would be best to let McCain win for these very reasons, but with the SCOTUS in play, Obama has to win.

No more Bushes, unless it's maybe on a Clinton...

I feel bad for McCain, I honestly respect the guy and think despite his temperament, he's intelligent and reasoned.

The RNC ruined him by making him pander to their new "base" that they found for Bush, instead of letting him just be John McCain.

He should kick Palin and his campaign managers to the curb, call up Chuck Hagel, apologize for whoring himself and tell Sean Hannity to go f*ck himself, then lay a blue streak on detailed specifics of his solutions to the issues.

I want McCain2000, not McCain2008.

During the primaries I started rowing back towards the ship with some hope in a change of direction of the party because I found a candidate that I liked. Then McCain took the nom. I sat there, scratched my head, turned my lifeboat around and went in search of the libertarian candidate.

I'm voting for Obama. I don't think he's qualified. But the overwhelming hatred for all things to the right of Obama convinces me that it's time to drink the Kool Aid. Granted, this makes me no more well informed than die hard Obamaniacs, but at least I'll blend in better.

You bite you god-damn tongue!

I've honestly feared of that for a very long time. Jeb Bush is George Bush's retarded brother, if that says anything.

I hope my fear is never realized.

Way back before the primaries and the candidate had become know, a fellow Democrat and I agreed that whether Obama, Clinton or McCain won, the country would be in good hands.

I hate to see people crumble at the end of their career. McCain rebounded after the Keating Five and he was respected. It's sad to watch this happen, and I blame the GOP more than I do the man. Every strategy they've tried since the convention has actually pushed voters towards Obama. I think this campaign has become unhealthy for McCain.

Today, I was very proud of him when he cut the lady off who called Obama an Arab. McCain was classy today. I wonder if the GOP now thinks it was wise to bury this part of McCain and conduct a campaign of bile.

Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo 2008-10-11 02:44:33 AM
The demographics are actually very very difficult for the GOP going forward. They've BARELY managed to eek out wins up until 2006 and from here on out the numbers look much much worse for them. Their base is evaporating.
