(Toronto Star) Stupid Tired of waiting on Jon Anderson to recover from respiratory failure, the other members of Yes say the fans are too so they will tour with yet another tribute band singer. Subby boning up on 'Guitar Hero' so he can replace Steve Howe   (thestar.com) divider line 32

They're not officially touring as Yes. At least at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, it's billed as "Howe, Squire & White of Yes".

I'm happy that the ticket prices are a little more reasonable than some of the recent tour prices. ($30 and $40)

I hope the decision wasn't made in the heat of the moment.

"Heat of the Moment" was Asia.

I wish they'd just wait a year...Anderson's doctors apparently have said he'll be good to go by then.

And misterhowl, you're correct...and Asia's guitar player was Steve Howe. Partial credit, emocomputerjock.

It was a stretch, but all I had.

Does anyone know why they are touring without Tony Kaye?

Geez... The guys from Yes are still touring? Who's their roadie, John McCain?

Cue the 'Playing Guitar Hero isn't playing guitar' snobs.

I play guitar and Guitar Hero, so I guess that makes me someone who can tell the difference between an instrument and a video game.

I really don't get the snobbery. If anything, GH encourages people to pick up a guitar.

On topic, I hope fans treat the new guy with decency. If you like the songs, who cares who the singer is. See also: Journey.

Do you mean besides the fact that he hasn't been in the band since Talk, in 1994, with Trevor Rabin?

Will stick with my Keys to Ascension Cds.

Man, I wish they had Yes on Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

/And Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Zappa, etc.

Guitar Hero is pretty much Whack-A-Mole with a soundtrack, but it's fun.

Geez, you'd expect more press about this in an election year.

I voted for him then, FWIW.

Quoted. 4. Truth.

I would LOVE to play OoaLH on Guitar Hero. Lately when I'm listening to that song I'm also mentally visualizing the lead and rhythm parts and just how intricate they could be.

/a stimulating noise

While working on the Fremont Theater concerts I was given a stack of hard drives to carry over from the rehearsal studio to where the recording equipment was being set up backstage. I was cautioned to be extra careful with them because the studio tracks were also on them. Scariest walk across Higuera Street I'd ever taken.

Trevor Rabin or GTFO

I'm a big fan of Yes, and this makes me sad.

i've heard the new singer on youtube... he's pretty damn good...

sounds like from the article that Anderson is a dick:

Howe said the band was sympathetic to Anderson's condition but decided their fans couldn't wait any longer, particularly since tour plans had previously been delayed for years for Anderson's solo pursuits.

but then again, Yes without Jon Anderson is kind of like King Crimson without Robert Fripp. or Roxy Music without Bryan Ferry.
or Genesis without Peter Gabriel [errr......wait....]

Yeah. because there's been that new Yes album to tour and promote for...wait, what?

Guess the rest of the band has been just twiddling their fingers waiting? HOWE many times has he gone back to the ASIA well, including the last moneygrab original lineup reunion. STFU Steve. Maybe Max Bacon's lookin' for that GTR reunion...you should ring him up.

Yes? NO.

Rabin I understand, he's actually doing quite well doing film scores; But Kaye is working in a Pizza restaraunt or something while Yes is using a studio musician for their keyboards on the tour.

ohhhh yeaaaah....
THAT album...
i can't believe i forgot about that for a minute...
it wasn't actually all that bad, either...
has a few of their heaviest tracks ever.... lots of great guitar work by Howe... and the Buggles guy who replaced Anderson on vocals [Horn? Rabin?] is actually pretty ok/good.

Trevor Horn. His band, The Buggles, had the very first video on MTV, "Video Killed the Radio Star." He went on to found ZTT Records, and discovered and developed Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The rest is history.

When I first got Drama, I was afraid I'd not like it because Jon wasn't on it. But I really did like it a lot, and still do. That's one reason why I'm still keen on this tour without Jon. Yes does not necessarily need to be all mainline members to work well. (Though we have not yet seen it without Squire, and I do admit trepidation about that.)

The other Trevor was Rabin, who was on board for 90125 and Big Generator. Please speak not of him.

Of course we have. "Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe"
