(Idolator) Asinine Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham threatening to replace Robert Plant with singer from Alter Bridge, which is the band that Creed eventually became once Scott Stapp got kicked out. What is Chris Cornell doing these days, anyway?   (idolator.com) divider line 30

This is retarded. Nobody is threatening anybody. Robert Plant has already agreed to do the tour. End of story.

That would be almost as dumb as using Dee Snider as a source for this story.

He's been touring with T-Bone Burnett and Alison Krauss...making relevant music. I doubt you could say that about yet another reunion tour with his old buddies from Led Zep. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him tour with them again, but I just saw Plant and Krauss at ACL a couple of weekends ago and they were jaw-dropping amazing.

Maybe he's taking 2 years off because he feels like it. Big farking deal.

IMO, they should get Chris Robinson to fill in. Page did a double live album of Led Zep covers w/ The Black Crowes around 99 or 2000. It was dynamite.

As long as nobody mentions the words "David" and "Coverdale", we're okay.

Please replace Jason Bonham. Just because he is family doesn't mean he has skills in drumming.

Howard Stern listeners will agree that Pat Monahan from Train is the only real choice for replacement here. The guy IS Robert Plant when he sings a Zep tune.

Really, though, there is no way I would ever be able to afford to go to any of these shows anyway- so I hope they all die.

I remember about 7 years ago Train doing "Ramble On" in Stern's studio. The whole band (Especially Monahan) were note perfect.

Dear awesome former rock groups,

Stop. Just stop.

/actually, if they want to, and the fans want to, what the hell...but you'd have to pay me to go see this, especially without Plant
//and Zep is my most favoritist band evar, going on 30 years...
///I remember where I was when I heard about 9-11, Reagan being shot, the Challenger, and John Bonham dying...the rest is a blur

Excellent suggestion, Subby. He's bouncing around a lot and I can't predict this next album's musical experiment will fare too well. (If you haven't heard the new CC album... well.. um...) Perhaps if we make a big enough noise, the two parties will get in contact and it will happen. What a great show that would be.

Jimmy Page + Ronnie James Dio.

Please.

Speaking as a huge Crowes fan, Chris doesn't have the voice anymore. He still sounds great when singing quietly over acoustic music, but when he gets loud and the notes get high these days, as they would singing Zep, his voice cracks big time.

There's some cringe-inducing moments on the Crowes' last live electric album, "Freak n Roll," and his voice hasn't gotten any better since.

Myles Kennedy (the guy from alter bridge) would be an interesting choice in my opinion

/Alter Bridge is NOT creed
//Alter Bridge is better
///Mark Tremonti kicks ass
//// Slashies

Recording as much suck as possible.

Call Kim Thayil, Chris. Stop being a dick about it.

BTW, the story here is 25 years old.

Plant is open to doing a few shows, like the show last year. Page wants to do a bigass long tour.

Plant says fark that. He's not interested in a long tour just playing old Zep songs the exact same way they were played 35-40 years ago.

Just like Plant has been saying for 25 years.

I like Chris Cornell's voice..

Though I heard one of his new songs, and I was pretty shocked how horrible it was. Maroon 5ish.

So bad.

I'd rather them do new stuff. that would be interesting as hell.

You can look at soundgardens credits on their albums...It's shocking. The more shiat chris wrote, the suckier they got, culminating in the vortex of suck that is "Down on the Up Side"
It's sad, really.

Thayill rules.

I am inclined to say that Louder Than Love is one of the top 5 albums to come out of that "scene". My favorite Soundgarden album by far. It is dark matter heavy.

Which is why it makes perfect sense for the rest of Zep to tour without him.

Maybe they could get the lead singer from Lez Zeppelin. I'd pay to see that.

My tears for his career dried up with Audioslave ... but at least that was a rock band with some guts and credibility, and not a mid-life crisis-induced attempt at mass appeal by using the current "it" producer.
Cornell's tour with Timbaland doesn't seem to be selling well, and he's losing more fans than he's gaining with the new direction. I normally don't ogle trainwrecks, but this is hard for me to ignore. I'm past the grievance stage, now I just laugh ... especially at him sandwiched in-between One Republic and the Pussycat Dolls at Fashion Rocks.
