For about a week a month. (yes that week) my fingers are really swollen in the morning. I take my wedding ring off for that week because it's titanium and I'm terrified of it being stuck on there and they can't cut it off. Hell sometimes I just wear my three stone ring and forget the wedding ring all together. Right now though I'm wearing my engagement ring with is form the 1920s in one of those crazy filigree settings and the titanium if my wedding ring would chew it up.

I'm not thinking of divorcing my husband just like wearing the different ring choices.

And we would have yet another douchebag Republican that cannot pronounce the word nuclear.

The Todd Palin proposal

[Somewhere inside a waffle house in Alaska]

Todd: "Hey baby, you gonna get those hash browns smothered and covered?"

Sarah: "Jack, I think I'm pregnant"

Todd: "My name is Todd"

Sarah: "Oh yeah. I was uhhh just thinking about uhhh... energy indepence"

Todd: "That makes no sense. How come you didn't remember my name?"

Todd: "We've been dating for like two weeks now"

Sarah: "Dating? All we did was have sex a coupla times behind the Moose-N-Go, doncha know?"

Todd: "What? No we didn't. We only ever did it in the back of my Camaro... remember? "

Sarah: "But I don't want to answer that. I would really like to talk about the fungibility of molecule flagging. Oh look! I can see Russia!"

Todd: "Look, we are through. I thought you were my 'baby-cakes', and now you broke my heart"

Sarah: "Oh Joe, don't be so sad. We can just rush off and get married. That way you can have this fungible resource whenever you want it"

Todd: "Really?"

Todd: "But my name is Todd"

Sarah: "You betcha. Whatever you say"

Todd: "So no more messing with other guys?"

Sarah: "You're doggone right. Unless you are out of town and one of your business partners wants to flag my molecules"

Todd: "Baby-cakes, I luuuuv you. Let's go right now and get hitched"

Sarah: "Sure. But right after you pay for my hashbrowns and a patty melt"

Todd: "You drive a hard bargain, but anything for you"

Yes, because this country hinges on how cool the VP is going to be, and every minor detail of their lives.

Of _COURSE_ we want to know all about Palin, who... GASP!... could be PRESIDENT!!! OH NOES!!!

( small caveat: only in the event the elected Pres dies in office, which we all know happens all the time )..

This is CRITICAL to today's issues! Nevermind any key differences from the ACTUAL PRESIDENT-ELECTS.

/ has to remind self that politics (except for the Revolution) was never about the issues... sigh...

// ... and even that probably had some special interest pork attached to it....

I'm a dude, so this is from a guys perspective.

I stopped wearing my high school class ring pretty fast because when I'm standing or walking alot my fingers swell a little, making jewelry very uncomfortable. I was in a wedding last weekend and almost got the brides wedding ring stuck on my pinky when my hands swelled after standing for a half hour, keep in mind that the ring was really loose when I started.

Maybe being a campaigning politician means she's on her feet a lot and hands swell, that'd be the case for me.

Imagine for a sec her and Todd were headin' for splitsville . . .

you can't seriously believe that the people running the campaign, her handlers, hell, the entire GOP machine wouldn't say "hold on there, tootz, put that ring back on and STFU. We've got an election to win."

xBodo99 2008-10-08 08:59:19 PM
Oh, and I would bet that this is nothing significant. Would she really be dumb enough to telegraph her authentic personal problems during the last few weeks before the election? It would be begging to lose.

Come to think of it, losing might be a good thing for her. People would be less concerned about Trig's birth certificate, she could drop Todd and go for the business partner, Levi would GTFO and stop parking his Camaro in the yard, Bristol could have her second child in peace (without faking an 11 month pregnancy) and maybe Track could get out of the military and just accept his drug conviction. Sarah could run a bed and breakfast out of her house while governing and bill her guests *and* the state for her time.

God, I'm bored.

Just so you know, it's a myth that Titanium rings can't be cut. The last jewellery store I worked in displayed one cut in half just to clarify that. If jewellers couldn't cut it with their tools, would they be making rings out of it?

Sheesh. My wife kept her maiden name because I asked her what the (her) Chinese tradition was on that and we went with that. Seems like a back-wood outlook that Palin has.

And less than 30 days before an election and we are worried about a damned wedding ring?!?!

ricbach229: I'm a dude, so this is from a guys perspective.

This likely is the answer.

I challenge you to define Marxist. Difficulty: No Googling.

When you complete that portion of the challenge, please discuss Obama/Biden's Marxist policies referring to your original definition.

Next, provide definitive evidence of a 'friendship' between Obama and Ayers. Hint: "Serving on a board" is analogous to working on a committee for some mutual purpose. It's not friendship. I've served on boards and worked with people that I can't stand in the least. Provide clear, definitive support for your claim of friendship with Ayers and, for bonus points, any documented endorsement from Obama of Ayers' participation in Weather Underground's activities.

Should you respond thoughtfully, articulately, and clearly in a way that genuinely meets each component of the challenge, I'll buy you some TotalFark.

/I can't even formulate a question about what 'empty suit' is supposed to actually mean.

I am almost positive that nobody gave a shiat about that.

Not so fast there. Later tonight I'm going to pinch quiet a loaf. If she wants it, I'll leave it in the pot for a few minutes after I'm done so she can come and get it. Don't take too long though. I don't want it stinking up my bathroom all night. You're late and it gets the big flusheroo.

This, kinda. It's true that they can't be cut, but they can be removed - they have to be broken with a vise and removed in 2 parts. Whenever I had people interested in them, I made sure to mention that and I didn't recommend them if the person who would be wearing it was a mechanic, police officer, EMT, any kind of job where they might be likely to either suffer a hand injury or get it caught on something.

I am married, and have no desire to be unmarried. My engagement ring went down the sink. My wedding band soon after. My son was ill and was worried and I lost weight and my hands were frozen numb coming from taking him for outpatient surgery and the wedding band went, too. I think it might have ended up in the trash when I dried my hands.

For Christmas that year my husband bought me a diamonds all round band. Sink. Then he bought me a new solitaire and it sits in its box, or on a chain around my neck.

I generally don't wear a ring anymore, though I'm not at skeletor stage any longer. Maybe sometimes silly 10 dollar fake-os. Yet I still love my husband.

No, they can be cut by hand using a dremel or jewellers hacksaw. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio but isin't too much more difficult to deal with than stainless steel. You might be thinking of Tungsten rings which need to be cracked or vised off.

Wow, thanks for that information. That really clears up a lot of deep questions that had been haunting me for decades.

They send 30 operatives up to Alaska and try to dig up dirt. Now they think some little dipstick radio station in Ohio is going to make a difference? I'm with you on this. Objectively and historically, the country seems to have seen its best prosperity with a Republican Congress and Democrat President. Since the Democrats took over the Congress, we've seen gasoline almost double and 2 trillion dollars in investments down the toilet. Can't wait to see what damage they'll do with all three branches. Precisely what actions by the Democrats do you see as responsible for worldwide demand spiking for oil and predatory and dishonest lending practices in the financial sector? I mean, that makes as much sense as blaming 9/11 on the GOP because there was a Republican Congress and President.

Besides, if I'm not mistaken, gas prices doubled (at least) in the year or two BEFORE Nov. 2006. And banks were making lots of shiatty loans in that time, too.

Go back and read over the history of the Community Reinvestment Act. My wife has worked in banking for 22 years. For the last 15 I've listened to her frequently complain how the OCC auditors come into the bank (small, community bank) and require them to make more high risk loans to "targeted" loan applicants to meet the intent of the CRA. The current financial meltdown isn't due to just one thing, and there is plenty of blame to go around, but the CRA revamp really got it rolling several years back.

Its just that they're are trying to pretend that people that he has a passing acqaintance with have been programming him for years. If thats the way they really want to think why isnt "Manchurian candidate" popping up in Republican circles more often? McCain did spend 5 years as a POW and the Russians and Chinese both had access to him theoretically.

I think the reason that I take this seriously is that they first started attacking him about his name. The one thing no person has control over. What they were named. If my last name is Wheeler, it doesnt mean that by nature I am a crafter of wheels. If my last name is Baker, that doesnt mean that I must create tarts and pastries. If my name is Cunnilingus, it doesnt mean.. well you get the idea.

All this personality and guilt by association stuff is incredibly unAmerican and anyone who denies that JUST to make their political bones is a shameless base creature.

Secondary note: Every politician that isn't in favor of the incumbent rides on a "reform/change" platform. Obamas version of change is supposed to be a more sweeping effect than reform, which takes the old and bends/cleans it for better use. Neither is new, and neither is a cry for revolution. So, which part of Obamas stated aims do you think have roots in Karl Marx's philosophy? Which ones are aiming to make this country over into a communist collective?

Socializing medicine for starters.

Massive redistribution of wealth for another. (How can you give tax breaks to 95% of the people when only 70% pay taxes) This latest downslide in the economy, brought on by the DEMOCRATS in congress by not doing their jobs but taking money anyway, will play a huge part in making socializing the economy palatible as well.

I'll let you do your own homework for the rest of it. That is if the Kool-Aid calling from the fridge/MSM doesn't get in your way.

But it's OK for the Repubs to socialize the banks. Strike one.

This latest downslide in the economy was brought on by the Repubs' thirst for deregulation. Strike two.

I'll let you do your own homework for the rest of it. That is if the Kool-Aid calling from the fridge/MSM doesn't get in your way.

If the Repubs were any damn good at running an economy, none of this crap would have happened. But it happened, and all on the Repubs' watch.

Three strikes. You and the rest of the Retarded Right are OUT. Go grab some bench, loser.

Don't know about any other gals, but I take off my wedding ring when I shower or when I'm doing housework, yardwork, etc. I do it to protect the setting and the stones as diamonds can in fact be damaged, not to mention that it keeps me from having to clean it as often. I have little boxes scattered all around the house that are for the specific purpose of holding my ring. I have left my ring off on several occasions after doing whatever I had to do that required met to remove it. It sometimes has been a couple of hours before I realize that I've left it stashed in a ring box somewhere and by then, I'm usually out of the house doing something else.

Welcome threads. Lots and lots of welcome threads.

I predict a massive influx of newcomers who are fairly politically neutral. Or, well, they won't want to discuss politics much. Or, well, they will just express some concerns about the new administration.

All of these newbie-to-bes are lurking right now. In fact they have been lurking for years, but will be creating their very first Fark account EVAR during the first half of November. Honest.

Unexploded_Ordnance: indylaw: Unexploded_Ordnance: Since the Democrats took over the Congress, we've seen gasoline almost double and 2 trillion dollars in investments down the toilet.

Precisely what actions by the Democrats do you see as responsible for worldwide demand spiking for oil and predatory and dishonest lending practices in the financial sector? I mean, that makes as much sense as blaming 9/11 on the GOP because there was a Republican Congress and President.

Several years? You mean more than two? Because the Democrats have held a majority in Congress for only the past 22 months.

Obamas plan is not to nationalize the medical system in the style of Canada, OK, etc. His plan is to offer a national alternative to private medical insurance. And his plan doesnt even force anyone to sign up. That was one of the problems that Hillary had in the primaries if you'll remember. She wanted to force everyone to sign up, where his view is "sign up if its better than what you've got, keep what you have if you like your better". That doesnt approach a national health care system, nor a communist power grab.

I dont call tax cuts a massive redistribution of wealth, but I concede that your view may differ in that respect. As to who is to blame for the economic downturn, both Houses had a great role to play in that, thinking that we can spend and never be accountable, leaving our debts for some golden point down the line and that they would never come due.

At the risk of repeating myself, I'll repeat myself: go review the history of the Community Reinvestment Act, particularly the changes made in 1995 and 1999. The 1995 changes, originally drafted in 1993 when the Congress and White House were all in Democratic hands, were the real killers. The CRA was originally passed in 1977, during the first term of the Obama administration.

On Inauguration Day, every Fark Independent will suddenly rejoin the Republican Party and begin demanding that Obama fix everything before the Inaugural Ball. When he doesn't, they'll spend the next four years blaming the last eight years on him.

Oh yes, I have definitely accepted that Obama is going to win. I think the last three Presidential elections (including this one) have given us absolutely terrible choices in candidates. I normally vote Republican, but when this campaign started way back when I looked them over and told my wife the only one I'd really feel good about voting for was Bill Richardson. Of course he went out early. McCain is a confused, cranky old codger and I think Obama will be the embodiment of the Peter Principle in the White House, but I suspect we'll survive whatever comes. I've got ten acres in the mountains all paid off if the economy takes a poop and we can survive on a fairly low salary diet. Here's to hoping for the best and preparing for the worst...

glassa 2008-10-09 12:49:47 AM
You think it has to do with the fact that she shakes hands with hundreds of people a day & doesn't want to lose the ring? Nah, that couldn't be it! It MUST be bad news for her marriage!

glassa 2008-10-09 12:55:07 AM
HMS_Blinkin: damitjim: Common among people that go on 'handshake lines'. Expensive rings can disappear.

That makes sense, except who shakes with their left hand? Still, I have a hard time believing she would want to raise suspicions of domestic problems during an election. If I were her (or any of the candidates) I would make sure my marital life at least LOOKED healthy for the sake of the voters until the election is over.

Have you not noticed that they put both hands in the line when they go through it? I have.

Am I the only male farker here who doesn't think she's all that attractive??? Granted, she's not hideous, but she's not gorgeous either. Especially after she opens her mouth, that voice of hers is just grating on the nerves. And her politics make her even uglier.

Sorry, she can wink at me all she wants but she's just average as far as I'm concerned.

"Frantz Fanon, Frank Marshall Davis, Saul Alinsky"

Wikipedia them. He never was tutored by Saul Alinsky either but thanks to Jerry Kellman, Obama took Alinsy's "Change" message and has made it palatable to the streets and the MSM via the Chicago Political Machine.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree this is not much of a story. That being said, it would be funny to have this story grow legs. Appearance of marital problems go great with that side. Maybe it will come out that she's bi. Awesome

I seem to remember a photo-op event Bush had a year or so ago in some underdeveloped country (to drum up support of whatever he was hiding at the time) where his watch was stolen in the receiving line of the "supporters" of his. I think that would be reason enough for me.

How should I know, I've never met you before.

I'm less interested in how physically attractive a 9 year old girl is than I am in the way that all three kids look as if Dad's concession means that hordes of gay terrorist Democrats are moments away from busting though the doors and sacrificing all of them to Satan.

The "Derangement Syndrome" Derangement Syndrome is going too far. I wish Rush Limbaugh would find a new twist to embed in his mindless followers.

Open your eyes, ferchrissake. Palin is a hack, pure and simple. That she governs a state is an amazing mistake in judgment.
