Actually if you're going left to right (like, you know, every English speaker) it's Dusty, Frank, Billy in that pic.

radiovox [TotalFark] 2008-10-08 04:24:36 PM
And Frank was a better drummer when he was drinking!

Yeah, yeah, yeah - so I screwed up the headline! Geez! I sent a request to have it fixed so everybody relax.

I think I reacted a bit too harshly to your original post so I do apologize for that.

Ah yes, the "Worldwide Texas Tour" from the Fandango album.

Well, those were crazy times for music in general I guess.

I assumed you were making a funny based on their physical similarity, and was going to laugh at all the dumbasses who didn't get it.

You really haven't lived until you've seen ZZ's animal act. The moment the trained asp leapt from Jimbo "Flaky Crust" Bargweiller's (the fourth Top who played jaw harp and keyboard on the '87 Smokinator Tour) whilst vultures trained to eat pieces of jerky from their beards dined in unison during "Tube Steak Boogie."

I thought I was going to go completely apoplectic with southern fried ecstasy. The buffalo was able to blend into the fur guitars, during "(She Got) Legs", like a cameleon, which was pretty impressive. But all the time I was thing well "I've got legs and know how to use them" where's MY musical paean?

I at least want an ode for christ sakes is "he's got an index finger that performs admirably enough" asking for too much? No, no it isn't. That was rhetorical.

(sigh) Dammit - I only WISH I was that clever. But uh...yeah! yeah! That's EXACTLY what my intentions were! LOL

But, I guess that's what happens when I get in a hurry and don't pay attention to what the hell I'm doing before clicking the last button for the submission. So yeah, I guess that makes me a subtard.

I congratulate you for navigating your way to Step 5.

Why didn't they just have a giant buffalo balloon floating over the stage?

Buffalo man
Buffalo man
Ha ha, redneck you are

Earguy [TotalFark] 2008-10-08 09:15:36 PM
That was an awesome tour. They just don't do stuff like that anymore. The 70's was a great time of stage excess. Sure, now they have huge video screens, but back then they'd have live animals, spaceships, towering drum risers, huge flying pigs, quadraphonic speaker set-ups.

You whippersnappers get off my vinyl.

happydude45 2008-10-08 09:22:14 PM
Actually, on the back of my tshirt it's Billy, Frank & Dusty, so the 1st letters spell out a big BFD next to their pictures. You're right about the 70's concerts too though most of the excess I remember was of the drug/drink variety.

There's this band you should check out: Autobahn. Nagelbeht is a great album, after you give it a couple of spins.

THIS.

I was also thinking that this proves how many morning DJs and talk show hosts mine Fark for their oh-so funny and witty stories without ever giving credit as to where they found them.

davehines 2008-10-09 02:50:37 PM
If the Rev. Willie G really wanted to "take Texas to the people," wouldn't it have been easier and safer just to drive a slow moving van full of illegal immigrants around the stage?
