Taylor Hicks wouldn't last a week in the fast food business. Fries would fly everywhere with those spasms.

What's sillier is that people will buy it.

Good for him, he doesn't have to be restrained in that pop-synth crap.

I hear he and Richard Hatch do a sweet duet on one of the tracks.

Well, apparently a million people with bad taste in music bought the first one, so by going indie he will probably make more money, even if he only sells half that amount.

I am not ashamed to say I like Taylor. His stuff before American Idol was really good but the AI album was crap. Hopefully this one will be good.

Too bad that like all the other people who were American Idol finalists, he's basically signed away the rights to any music he makes for the rest of his life.

Simon Fuller and his company 19 Group, own the names, likenesses, voices and personal histories of the "Idol" finalists, "in or in connection with" the show, forever.

19 Group can use that material however it wants, even if it's false, embarrassing or damaging.

These young performers are wrapped up for recording, management and merchandising under the most restrictive terms imaginable: Their careers are literally not their own.

Their recording, management and merchandising companies, needless to say, are all owned by 19 Group -- a fundamental conflict of interest familiar to anyone who has studied the machinations of the music biz.

Isn't "You want fries with that?" a line form Todd Sniders's song "I can't complain"

"I never made it through that red tape, I got this paper hat, I got a job workin weekdays, you want fries with that" Todd Snider

FTA: No doubt Hicks is looking forward to the release. The question is, is he the only one?
