Freebird? Well, it's a good song, but is it really about Alabama?

phlegmmo 2008-10-07 03:05:27 PM
"A lot people outside of Alabama don't even know that we have beaches," he said.

I bet a lot of people inside of Alabama don't know that either.

After Freebird, probably my least favorite song by Skynyrd.

Now "Gimmie Back My Bullets"... that's a good song, and it'd look funny as hell on a license plate.

No, we do. It's the only place any of us can afford to go on vacation.

I'd move my registration back to AL for a plate like that. Plus, I hate the GA plates.

They're gonna put "Mississippi Kid" on Alabama plates?

Weird.

This one is my vote. I would love to see that on all Alabama license plates.

Far more appropriate, IMHO.

What about the God Bless America tags that just showed up last year? They were supposed to be the next big thing in Delaware-esque, flat-painted, non-stamped tags.

That new tag looks awful. Way too peach-colored and it looks like a nuclear explosion on the horizon.

Still better than Florida's manatee/potato/turd plate, though.

No Working For MCA (I love the growl at the start)? Four Walls of Raiford? Was I Right Or Wrong?

My father had that four-CD collection in the green box that came out in the early nineties, so I got to know a lot of their more obscure stuff - I already knew the rest, because he had Gold & Platinum and Skynyrd's Innards on vinyl, plus a bunch of stuff on cassette.

21 seconds! MUAHAHAAA!!

\and it does bear repeating, Skynyrd's from Florida.
\\also bears repeating, "Simple Man" is my favorite Skynyrd song.

Heh, I like the God Bless America ones, but I'm still stuck with the stupid "Stars Fell on Alabama" one.. ugh.

I think its sad Sweet Home Alabama isn't our state song.

Skynyrd sucks but Molly Hatchet rules...and The Outlaws rule and so does the Reverend Horton Hears a Who...and The Who sucks.

They need a plate that says Alabama come and check out our beaches so they can get the Slavic homeboy tourist dollar

What, nobody mentioned "T For Texas"? Bah.

/I know, they didn't write it
//Didn't write "Call Me The Breeze" either and they do it well

Rapmaster2000 2008-10-07 04:50:35 PM
"A lot people outside of Alabama don't even know that we have beaches," he said. "When we put more than three million tags showing sea oats and a beautiful sunset over water into circulation, that will change," he said.

Now all you need is for your citizens to travel farther than Georgia, Mississippi, or Florida - to places where people don't know that you have beaches.

Better than the farking American flag I have to see all the time. I'm still convinced that putting the American flag on license plates is desecration of the flag.

In Honor of Mayor Tom "Mumbles" Menino of Boston, the citiy's rock song can either be Wooly Bully or Surfin Bird.

Lived in Alabama for aout a year, they played that song on every station at least once a day. Must have been some type of ordinance

\left when they said I had to marry my cousin
\\she's kinda ugly

URAPNIS 2008-10-07 04:52:37 PM
Most people in Alabama would rather go to Florida's beaches anyway. Well, except for me... and maybe a few others.

A band from Florida, too stupid to fuel up a plane?

/Good choice
//Was "Southern Man" already taken?

Raug the Dwarf 2008-10-07 04:54:58 PM
I love Skynyrd as much as the next man, but I'm so goddamn tired of that song. It seems like everywhere you turn, they're playing it. Especially when, people have already mentioned in this topic, they have much better tunes out there that get forgotten.

/Loves me some Curtis Lowe.
//Actually, "Pronounced" and "Second Helping" Were both kickass albums
///With the above exclusion, of course.

I am sure it is in their wikipedia, or perhaps it is common knowledge: They are from Jax, FL and the name was the name of their gym teacher (except for all the "y"s.

/Being from Jax, it is common knowledge for me, not sure if it is outside of Hickvile.

blacknewport65 2008-10-07 04:56:55 PM
"That Smell" would be a fitting plate slogan for Alabamians living in Ardmore. Not sure what's worse; the smell of meth cooking down the street or the wiff of raw sewage that can't stay in the clay when it's raining.

Goonie_Goo_Goo 2008-10-07 04:57:39 PM
Oh, that's the Kid Rock song, right?

As bad as hearing Sweet Home Alabama is in Alabama...at least its not as bad as Rocky Top is if your from Tennessee. That song will make your ears bleed after the 200th repitition
