More proof the music industry eats a big bowl of dicks: it's handing out awards for mediocre songs from 30 years ago.

Doctor: So, Mr. Loaf, how's the new medication working out?

Meatloaf: Well doc, it got rid of the sweats and the nausea but I've still got the lack of balance.

Doctor: Don't be sad, two out of three ain't bad.

FTA: At the time, the 61-year-old reportedly blamed medication for a torn retina for his unsteadiness, prompting presenter Alan Carr to poke fun at his condition.

Comedian Carr quipped, "Meat Loaf was a bit worse for wear when he came on. He was on medication, so I'm told - but that's what they all say!

I have no idea who Alan Carr is, but he sure is a jackass.

Meat Loaf apparently gets immense stage fright at every concert he does. It gets so back that he kinda blacks out and can't remember the performance afterwards. He gets immense respect from me for doing concerts despite this. Also, we need more people doing rock ballads.

Why did Justin Hawkins have to discover drugs and throw his career away...

GibbyTheMole 2008-10-07 10:28:23 AM
I used to get vertigo all the time as a kid. Mostly when I'd wake up in the morning. Took me several minutes to crawl about 12 feet to the bathroom with my face as close to the floor as possible, so I could throw up. Ah, good times...

Um, no. We really don't.

Sorry Mr. Loaf, you have my respect for being in Fight Club but nothing will erase the memory of the drunken middle aged couple at the corner bar karaoke-ing "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Not Remove the Tags From the Mattress and Do Not Take Orally or whatever the fark the name of that song is" a year or so ago. *shudder*

This is no joke, man. I have had what they call "benign positional vertigo" on and off for the better part of four years now. Mine isn't due to medication, it's due to my body overproducing calcium, leading to the deposits in my ear canal (everyone has them, but mine build up more than most) breaking loose and floating around. They mess with the cilia that determine your balance until they dissolve or move into a position where they no longer affect you.

Some people get it the same way as me, some get it due to a head injury (smacking their head in a car accident, for instance) and still others get it by taking supplements or medication that encourage an unnatural build up.

Not saying that it's the worst thing in the world. It's more annoying than anything. But man, when you wake up in the morning, put your feet on the floor, and immediately fly across the room head first into a wall while your wife lays in bed laughing at you... You just know it's going to be a bad day. Take some Meclazine, and basically just lay down for the day while you feel like you are on a 24 hour Tilt-A-Whirl.

It recurs in me about once every six to eight months. Just wake up and feel dizzy as hell.

viccellini 2008-10-07 12:18:51 PM
Shadowknight, my wife suffers from BPPV. She was hit in the head by her exbf, so now she's had it on and off for a few years. I feel so bad for her when she has an attack. She hasn't puked yet because of it, but it's been intense on a couple of occasions.

She still can't fully lie down on her right side (without feeling like she's on a boat.)

viccellini 2008-10-07 12:20:46 PM
Oh yeah, one more thing. If I ever bump into the farker that did it to her, I'll make him regret ever putting a hand on her in anger.

She has my sympathy, not just for the dizziness but also because of the abuse.

As far as the BPPV goes, yeah, I can't lay on my right side either. Pretty much just prop myself up on my left side as best I can and watch the world spin.

My question is, when the vertigo comes on, does he feel like breaking out of his body and flying away? Like a bat out of hell?

And another thought; Hopefully he is not riding a motorcycle when this comes on, we wouldn't want to find him torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike.

When I was applying to get on the EMS Squad, they had to question me about it. Seems their fearful that I'll have a sudden attack while driving down the road with a car accident victim in the back.

Luckily, mine only happens if I sleep in a weird position or if I do some sort of flip.
