I saw this coming. At least SNL will have a guest who is used to reading off a teleprompter.

CheddarPants [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:36:10 PM
She should wait until after the election. She'll have a lot more free time then.

shaggenstein 2008-10-05 08:44:34 PM
headline is misleading, says it may happen

CougarJeff [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:48:47 PM
It's really just to prove that they are not the same person.

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:51:34 PM
She'll probably blow it and look like an idiot.

Sarah Palin playing Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin.

There are so many ways this could go wrong that SNL will probably have the biggest audience they've had in decades. If they actually do it ;)

Geekette [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:54:11 PM
I think Palin will be great. She's got a degree in journalism and has experience on TV. I'm looking forward to it actually.

Who knows, maybe they'll even offer her a permanent gig and she'll drop off the ticket.

Saborlas [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:57:11 PM
So she'll actively be TRYING to make a fool out of herself.

With her track record, she'll botch it and won't be funny.

kmmontandon [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 08:57:15 PM
Just when I thought the McCain campaign couldn't be successfully satirized ... they go and do it themselves.

bronyaur1 [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:03:19 PM
How'd that work for Hillary Clinton's electoral success?

newmoonpuppyhead 2008-10-05 09:04:55 PM
Jeebus, they are farkin' dumb. She's gonna spoof the person who spoofs her? So, she's going to play herself? Brilliant! Just goes to show you, conservatives do not understand comedy.

/It'll be great for SNL, though.

newmoonpuppyhead 2008-10-05 09:06:40 PM
Geekette: I think Palin will be great. She's got a degree in journalism and has experience on TV.

That was sarcasm, right?

honeymaid8 2008-10-05 09:08:58 PM
Can't be better than the Colbert bump.

But he'd make her cry.

DslainteC [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:09:05 PM
I'll be sure to watch it with the sound turned down.

Iwouldhitit [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:11:48 PM
You know who else appears on SNL?

/Celebrities, that's who.

sarahthustra [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:11:52 PM
i hope this happens and i hope it's that painful, awkward "someone in this room doesn't get the joke" sort of funny.

it's my favorite.

King Something [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:12:17 PM
newmoonpuppyhead: So, she's going to play with herself?

Yeah, I think I'll go buy a barrel of lube and a pallet of Kleenex.

Majick Thise [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:27:30 PM
Be sweet if they could secretly get Obama to appear in the background. The cheers would be deafening and Palin would think they were for her

Warchild [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:33:40 PM
And not one of you have mentioned Janet Reno's Dance Party appearance.

I am ashamed.

/I'll get over it

UNC_Samurai [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:34:48 PM
At least someone on the set would have some acting training.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:38:25 PM
CougarJeff: It's really just to prove that they are not the same person.

Yeah, in case Tina Fey's intelligence, sense of humor and attractiveness didn't tip everyone off.

RadioAaron 2008-10-05 09:41:24 PM
DslainteC: I'll be sure to watch it with the sound turned down.

Pretty much where I was gonna go with this, too. Well done.

shanrick [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 09:54:28 PM
Two weeks before the election? McCain will probably have keeled over from senility by then.

bulldg4life [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:00:18 PM
what a damn celebrity

We don't need celebrities in the White House

Fast forward to the next day: Youtube servers melt ;)

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:06:32 PM
The only problem is that conservatives aren't funny. Never were. Dennis Miller after he became a neo-con, the rednecks of the Blue Collar comedy tour, that attempt by Fox to make their own version of the Daily Show and the latest, An American Carol (torrented it, it was brutal). Palin trying intentionally to be funny will be as funny as the Holocaust, which I'm sure if you were there probably wasn't all that funny.

Why would she be playing herself?

From my reading of it, she'll be "imitating" Tina Fey (just like Tina Fey is imitating her). So, I'm not sure what that really means though, since Tina Fey herself is not really seen that much, other than when she hosted WU. So, maybe Sarah Palin will host WU or something.

Of course to do that, Sarah will have to try to NOT have her Alaskan accent, and sound like Tina. Can she do that? Guess we'll see.

spamdog [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:18:09 PM
It'll be pathetically unfunny, like all conservative "humour".

PUFTAS 2008-10-05 10:18:17 PM
That would BOMB.

Warchild [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:18:58 PM
I think this is a great idea. I mean, why not?

/waves to puppyhead

FredaDeStilleto [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:19:22 PM
So she's going to play a smart woman?

Um, there's that award-winning television show she's on fairly regularly. Perhaps you've heard of it.

They could have her lipsync "Singing in the Rain", then pull back to curtain to show Obama singing.

moriarty23 2008-10-05 10:21:22 PM
Palin is destined to be a Michael Ian Black punchline on a shiatty VH1 nostalgia show.

Coco LaFemme [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:21:23 PM
I love Tina Fey. She's smart, she's funny and she's pretty to boot. Sarah Palin wishes she were Tina Fey; at least when people laugh at what Tina says, she WANTS them to.

Huckabee seems to have a good sense of humor ...

Prospero424 [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:27:05 PM
I don't think they've thought this cunning stunt all the way through...

But hey, as an Obama supporter, I'd be both surprised and pleased if this actually happens. And as a fan of comedy both intentional and otherwise, I can't wait!

Mugato: An American Carol (torrented it, it was brutal)

Seriously. I decided I was going to ignore the ridiculous premise of "sticking it to the American haters" and try to enjoy it, but it was just painfully bad. Just awful. I honestly did put aside political concerns and looked at it as a Zucker comedy, but it was embarrassingly awful.

It actually made Michael Moore look better by being so clumsy, which is a feat in itself.

Casanova.Frankensteir 2008-10-05 10:27:17 PM
Clearly Palin's looking into new career options to explore when the election's over. Good for her.

Prospero424 [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:28:30 PM
spamdog: It'll be pathetically unfunny, like all conservative "humour".

But that's the thing. If it actually happens (which I seriously doubt), I'm pretty sure it would be written by the SNL writers.

This is part of the reason I don't think they've thought this all of the way through.

DarkJohnson [TotalFark] 2008-10-05 10:35:29 PM
If SNL wants to make it a real surprise, they should book Obama and not tell her, then have him walk up behind her during whatever skit she's in.

That would be farking high-larious

spiderland 2008-10-05 10:36:35 PM
Great, lets give her the chance to make her scary inadequacies seem funny and cute. If by doing that show it helps McCain win, Lorne Michaels is going to live (presumably) for next 4 years in body armor.
