FTA Florida ride inspectors are trying to determine what caused the ride to unexpectedly move.

Could it be because this is the first inspection the ride has gotten since it shipped from the factory?

The crowd of 10-12 men who caught the toddler are now demanding a gang bang video to be made with themselves and the mother. It is either that or she does not get the toddler back.

I wonder if the ride really did malfunction or if the mother took way too long getting her kid out of the ride.

I remember being so jealous when my classmates would talk about the Zipper ride coming into town with the fair. Now I'm older and wiser and I realize why my mom wouldn't let me go on fair rides.

Thank you Mom.

Generally, there has to be a human pushing the button to start the right for precisely this reason. It's not run by robots.

OK I've just gotta bite on this one even if you're trolling...

Your mother didn't let you ride on *any* fair rides, or just the "Zipper" ? If the answer is none, that is truly sad, dude. Tell me she lets you ride them now and that it was just an age thing, cause man you missed out on a lot.

I'm just sayin.... start with the scramber and work your way up :)

/The Magnum XL 200 ( at night no less ) at Cedar Point was a defining moment in my childhood.

It's important for people to realize that carnival rides are generally assembled by the people operating them. Think about that before you climb on one.

Wow, the other story on that site is messed up. Some little girl is missing and basically a rock-throwing lynch mob went to her house to try and get at her mom and grandparents.

[clicks]

Ah yes. That's not just any missing little girl, she's been missing for quite some time, and the story has gotten loads of media coverage because apparently there are various evidence reasons to suspect that Mom killed her own kid. So, endless TV coverage of the usual self-righteous busybody sort, scandal, marinated in the hot Florida summer sun, and... lynch mobs.

Not to excuse 'em but it's been being brewing for a while.

/found out about that story here on Fark a month or so back
//just read the synopsis then and it was train-wreck enough

There is a BIG difference between a carnival ride and an amusement park ride. I suspect he's only talking about the kind that are assembled overnight. (I wasn't allowed to ride them either ...)

eschatonik 2008-10-05 09:29:58 PM
I first became aware of this about ten years ago,
the summer my oldest boy, Bill Jr. died.
You know that carnival comes into town every year?
Well this year they came through with a ride called The Mixer.
The man said, "Keep your head, and arms, inside the Mixer at all times."
But Bill Jr, he was a DAAAREDEVIL, just like his old man.
He was leaning out saying "Hey everybody, Look at me! Look at me!"
Pow! He was decapitated!
They found his head over by the snow cone concession.
A few days after that, I open up the mail.
And there's a pamphlet in there. From Pueblo, Colorado,
and it's addressed to Bill, Jr.
And it's entitled,
"Do you know what the queers are doing to our soil?"

One year this giant loop ride got stuck at the very top with people hanging upside down. Seriously, it was one giant circle and that's it. I don't know if I saw it since then or not. I know I sure wouldn't ride the thing ever again if I were brave enough to be caught on it to begin with.

Some rides like the Ferris wheel, the carousal, and those little choo choo trains on tracks are suitable for very young children provided their parents ride too.

At (now defunct) DisneyQuest here in Orlando, they used to have a thing where you could create your own roller coaster on a computer and then they'd lock you in this little cannister and you'd ride a VR version of your own coaster.

I got in there once with a friend and the thing got stuck. We were horizontal and he was on top of me. It was so tight that we could barely move our arms, let alone our legs. We were locked in there for almost 20 minutes and by the time we got out, he was dripping sweat all over my face and in my eyes and whatnot.
