Because People in power are Stupid 2008-10-05 01:14:28 AM
The guy simply needs to learn the art of doctor shopping and become a conservative radio host. Then he wouldn't need to steal.

The guy simply needs to learn the fine art of a/b alkaloid extraction and small-scale poppy growing.

Good thing he wasn't in Virginia. Could have gotten a decade in the clink for three counts of driving on a suspended license.

If by "Judge gives a heroin addict who had already committed 145 crimes one more chance" one means "Judge picks up a knife and fork, and eats this man" then, well, perfect.

wildcardjack 2008-10-05 03:37:18 AM
offences consisted of 126 thefts from cars, five commercial burglaries, seven house burglaries and four counts of taking a vehicle without consent

Okay, once upon a time I'd check the handle of the next car over whenever we went out, and I didn't wrack up that many hits. I can't help but think he's become a velcro case and has picked up every complaint of goods missing from vehicles in the area. I wonder how much evidence in each car case the prosecution has.

/There's occasionally a reason to park further out.
//A bad one.
///Never caught.

145 burglaries is so much less of a social disaster than letting doctors prescribe heroin for free, isn't it?

Judges like the farktard in this story are what gives the conservative radio host ammunition.

Agreed, let this ass get all the heroin he wants. For free. Then dump his overdosed body in the ocean, or maybe shoot it into space.

Rehab 1st of course.

Judge Martin Picton said Weaver had caused his victims 'a lot of harm' and his crimes deserved 'years' in prison.

And a good thing he was let go, Political threads on Fark would be utterly boring without Weaver95 heading up the defense for the GOP.

In England they have no "national pasttime" to give their justice system a "three strikes" rule, for which they should be thankful.

Instead, they play soccer, which takes forever, involves a lot of senseless running around without really accomplishing anything, and, in its aftermath, quite frequently leads to heavily intoxicated citizens destroying property. Oh, wait. That sounds too much like this guy's case to be a coincidence ...

CrackrJak 2008-10-05 04:23:31 AM
This guy would probably steal any rehab place blind.

Looks like nobody read TFA.
You're all acting like he went to court 145 times.

I suppose nobody has ever heard of a single case where a defendant has 3 charges of X brought against them, 8 charges of Y ..etc

///So, I pick up the spoon, the fork ... The Knife
///And I start to cook
///Pila, Pila!, Pila Pila!

////I have a lot of drugs in my pocket. In my pocket they don't hit, they hit when I get them out.

Z1P2 2008-10-05 04:51:25 AM
I RTFA... he's not off the hook yet. The judge just differred sentancing for three months and told the guy he MIGHT not have to do any time if he stays out of trouble until then... on the other hand, he could have to serve all of the time anyway, the judge didn't give any guarantees, and the odds that this guy can stay out of trouble for more than a week seems slim.

I don't believe any of us are operating under the assumption that this man went to court 145 times. If that was the case and he hasn't bee imprisoned I'd call him a shucklack.

Not to mention, most of us are just attempting to make a joke.

liverleef 2008-10-05 05:08:44 AM
I went to court about 15 years ago for speeding. Was doing 50 in a 25. The guy in front of me was dressed like a thug, he even stank. He wouldn't tell the judge what he was there for, the cop who escorted him out explained that he was there for drug possession, resisting arrest and giving false identification to a cop...again! The judge said "listen to me son, Thats not cool! do you understand? To which the defendant said nothing. The judge then let him go with another warning.

I was wearing a suit and trying to demonstrate a respect for the court and charges against me. The judge gave me a long lecture and then told me to come back with a lawyer because I was in serious trouble.

The lesson here, is that if you're going to smoke crack, resist arrest and lie to the cop, whatever you do don't speed. Oh and dress like a douchebag if you go to court.

HexRei 2008-10-05 05:22:10 AM
I like how his drug use status is somehow relevant to the OP.

I mean, if you're sentencing Bob the Burglar, are you really going to be more harsh on Bob the Heroin Addict than Bob the Guy Who Committed All His Crimes Sober?

145 crimes is a criminal for life no matter what.

Sometimes the poor victims need to be given more priority than the offender.

Only sometimes?

I had a similar experience - speeding 55 in a 40. Judge went off on me big time. He could not believe that I was not popped for DWI because 'my people' are known for that kind of thing. I was dressed in my best Brooks Bros. suit and he wanted to know who I borrowed it from, or did I steal it?. Why do I dye my hair? (I don't) I need to be taught a lesson - you PA idiots can't come into our state.....blah blah blah. What kind of mother do I have? (that was the wtf? moment). $1,000 bond because I lived in PA, come back with lawyer. (They would not take a check, thank fsm my brother was with me, he had to drive back to PA to cash a farking check while they held on to me) Did go back with lawyer 5 week later, (dressed like a punk rocker) and she chewed that bastard up. Judge Dismissed charge, called lawyer a biatch. Fun day. I still get chills whenever driving in NJ, which for the past 14 years have avoided.
