I am trying to figure out how come only guys cheat. Is there one woman that is farking all the millions of cheating men?

simpsonfan 2008-10-04 10:36:28 PM
If so many wives and girlfriends didn't forgive the cheaters, men wouldn't cheat. If every woman divorced hubby the first time he cheated, the divorce rate would rise. For a while.

Miss Misery 2008-10-04 10:36:59 PM
I don't know. No man's ever cheated on me. I have been the other woman though...and trust me the thing about the looks is true...guys with the prettier girlfriends are more likely to cheat actually. Their girls are flirts and make them feel inferior so they lash out. I try not to homewreck but when I have that's usaully been the case. Or she was frigid.

Lumber Jack Off: I'd argue that more women cheat than men. women are just better at hiding it....usually.

If I remember a few studies done throughout the years, THIS is what happens the most.

The only difference is:

If the man cheats = he is automatically regarded as scum
If the wife cheats = automatically the husband's fault because he's scum

So far, the person that cheats does it for a bunch of reasons.

Being unappreciated, ignored, set aside, needs not met, and they are all somewhat valid ones, and these will lead to therapy, counseling, or divorce.

But then you have the other reasons; stupidity, can't keep their pants on, etc. and these all end up in NASTY divorce/seperation.

I've never cheated, but my ex girlfriend had a sister who if she was legal at the time of me dating her, I would have taken the offer to wreck that chick... Her face was OK, but her body was absolutely outstanding with just a slight hint of belly pudge, barely any but so, so cute. I think I'm going to go to the closet with a box of tissues now

/Remembers this one time a few summers ago I walked in on her in the bathroom changing into her bathing suit... I used the mental image in bed with my gf (her sister) countless times.

FTA: "What's the number one reason men cheat? Ninety-two percent of men said it wasn't primarily about the sex."

This proves we're liars also. If it was a multiple choice survey, I'm sure they picked the answer that appeared to be the "correct" one. If it was an interview, the respondents were just trying to look sympathetic to the hot female grad student conducting the interview in hopes they could get her too.

The real answer is probably closer to "I can get laid and then leave."

FTA: "The majority said it was an emotional disconnection, specifically a sense of feeling underappreciated. A lack of thoughtful gestures,"

My wife doesn't understand me like you do. Let's go have a drink after work.

This. For guys, it's mostly about physical urges. As someone on Fark said many moons ago,

"Affairs are the result of the smaller head telling the bigger head what to do. If mine told me to cheat on my wife, I'd go into the other room and beat some sense into the little guy."

/Believe it or not, that phase earned me a lot of cred with a former internship-boss.

I didn't cheat, I just left. She was a lazy never would work or do house work, while I supported her children. I did have the satisfaction, that after I left, she had to work her ass off.

Only good quality, was she was good in bed. I can get that anywhere, the one thing she forgot.

I highlighted the important part. I think the vast majority of men probably cheat because their girlfriend/wife doesn't take care of them. And it's not a matter of "If I can't get sex from you I'll go get it from someone else." It's more a matter of, you don't love me, you don't pay me any affection, I don't feel desired by you anymore. So I'm going to go spend time with someone who DOES appreciate me and make me feel good about myself.

Ladies, I guarantee that if you keep your man happy (and that doesn't necessarily mean have sex with him a lot) there's almost no chance he'll sleep around on you. The tiny minority of men who will still cheat on you are the kind of men who will cheat on you no matter what anyway.

Remember, just because we're men doesn't mean we don't have feelings and emotional needs too. How would you like it if we ignored you emotionally and completely devalued you pyschologically?

/still a big tough manly man.
//just acknowledges that I have some emotional needs too.
///and the GF takes good care of me.

ha-ha-guy 2008-10-04 10:52:36 PM
Well in all honesty I think there are two kinds of cheating. The "damn I need to get some", purely physical release and then the more emotional one that comes from having a poor relationship with your S.O.

First one is easy to fix, great sex. Second one is a little harder, although great sex is a good step.

Basic rule of thumb, people like good sex and if they're getting it they'll try to avoid messing it up.

snow9999 2008-10-04 10:52:40 PM
The person that mentioned that it is not only sex is right. My ex, would give it up and good. I got tired of paying for everything, while having to do the cooking and cleaning while I would call and wake her up watching Ophra every day. I would have to go through her and her kids clothes to find clothes to wear for work at 5 in the morning, while she could sleep, because she did not work, but when it came to money it was ours.

That did not last long.

bajonista 2008-10-04 10:52:57 PM
Anywhere from 5-30% of children are raised by men that are:

1.) Not the biological father.
2.) Under the impression that they are the biological father.

There are plenty of evolutionary reasons for cheating, and women aren't innocent either. It's just easier to feel sorry for them for some reason.

kittyburbank 2008-10-04 10:55:45 PM
Can I pose a survey to our male farkers?

I've gone out with guys who always--at first--say they're divorced. After a few drinks, it comes out that they're, in fact, separated. (Sigh.) But they're "over [her]--really." It's not a get-in-the-pants thing, I don't think...It's that (as they say) they really believe they're wanting to move on.

Isn't that, in a way, cheating? They're not yet divorced. Thus, they're still...um...married. That just seems like cheating, no?

Dangl1ng 2008-10-04 10:57:33 PM
H_is_for_Heretic: Article could also be titles "Why women, or anyone, cheats" If it were all about sex they'd go to a hooker.

I don't know. I think that if going to a hooker would be acceptable in our society, that might be true.
Being a man, I kinda feel like I would be a shmoe if I were to go to a hooker for side lovin. I'm paying for sex. I can't get it anyway else. I can't flatter another woman into bed. And I'm using lots of resources that should be going to my kids to pay for 10 minutes of happy. I think I would feel like I'm such a loser.
Now, meeting another woman, investing a little time and talking her into bed. That's an accomplishment. Not necessarily a great accomplishment, but an ego stroker sure. Sure your sleazy. You're bad for cheating on your wife.

/Just saying.
//Has never cheated

simpsonfan: If so many wives and girlfriends didn't forgive the cheaters, men wouldn't cheat. If every woman divorced hubby the first time he cheated, the divorce rate would rise. For a while.

I think you'd also have to blacklist the cheaters somehow. The problem as I see it is that the personality traits that cheaters tend to have are incredibly sexy to women. Women see a guy who is prone to cheat and subconsciously, they think, "if I have children with him, then my children are more likely to have children of their own" and so they boink him. Even if you could show them the future, an prove that he'll cheat, she'd still do it because he's oh so attractive.

So many of the things that men are advised to do in order to pick up ladies are actually just faking these signals of willingness to be unfaithful. We don't "know" this consciously. It's all just instinct.

/in before someone makes the cliche joke where they project their own failures onto me. I'm happily in a relationship, thx.
