The "wink" really bothered me. I was surprised it wasn't followed up with her licking her lips.

Somebody needs to remind her it's an election for the Presidency/Vice Presidency - not an election for Miss Alaska.

Not that there's anything wrong with that..

I was mostly listening to the debate, so I missed the winks until I saw them all strung together on CNN.

I -did- look up every time Palin started speaking, though, just to watch the Undecided Ohio Voters crank their dials down.

I am quite sure that Fark IndependentsTM will be along to explain that this is a logical fallacy quite shortly, and those asked are merely planted agents of the Dems, there to spread the lie of Republicans straying from the narrow path, or independents being swayed by Obama.

It's kind of a shame that she doesn't think it's the Miss Alaska contest, because I'd like to hear her hilariously massacre some more pop songs on the flute.

Interesting choice of words. The Republican party should stand for individual rights, small government, and fiscal conservatism, but they don't. So what do you do when your party abandons its basic premise? What do you do when the leaders of your own party are even more adamant about doing all of the things you've been voting against all these years than the opposition party?

A. Move on.
B. Keep voting them in.

She's an idiot, with an idiot's understanding of politics, and she doesn't belong in higher office.

That's pretty much the boat I'm in right now and I don't know the answer. I'd love to see real conservatives who stand for values and principles in charge, but the Fox News trash types seem dug in like an infected tick. I side with the libs these days just because anything that hurts the neocons is at least something.

I trust Obama about as far as I can throw him, but I agree with a majority of his platform, find him to be an intellectually curious person, and believe he has the country's best interests somewhere down there in his priorities. Not necessarily at the top, but in there somewhere.

That's three things I cannot say for Bush, Cheney, McCain, Palin, or the majority of Republicans at the national level.

My 13 yo is studying American Gov't/Civics as her history this year.

She came to me more angry than I can say when she found out about the Electoral College. And when we got to talking about party issues, and who has a chance to be elected...she was almost breathing fire.

If all of us approached politics and the political machine like it was a new thing, a changeable thing, a thing worthy of our time and our anger when it goes wrong...we'd have a better country, that's for damned sure.

I'm not saying that they need to vote Democrat or anything, but I wish like hell they would take their friggin' party back.

Hey, I think the guy's a nutter on some issues, but I'd rather see him getting votes than McCain.

I have to wonder how the "maverick" thing is playing in Great Britain, where calling a woman a cow is considered an insult. Palin calling herself a cow has to have them scratching their heads.

This is from the debate transcript; it's how she responded to Biden's comments about how McCain will continue Bush's policies:

Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced [sic] your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future. You mentioned education, and I'm glad you did. I know education you are passionate about with your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and god bless her. Her reward is in heaven, right? ... My brother, who I think is the best schoolteacher in the year, and here's a shout-out to all those third graders at Gladys Wood Elementary School, you get extra credit for watching the debate.

Anyone in favor of putting this woman one 72-year-old-heartbeat away from the presidency is mindlessly partisan. End of discussion.
