Several months ago I would have doubted the ability of the GOP to find someone as power hungry and intellectually incurious as Dubya.

Wow. They have succeeded. I am impressed.

I shouldn't need to defend a real American hero like John McCain to Obama cultists such as yourself. The five and a half years he spent in a POW camp in Vietnam--even after he could have gone home, but chose to stay with his fellow heroes--is all the evidence I need that he loves this country more than the socialist Obama does.

More like attacking Obama while disclaiming allegiance to McCain...because Lord knows no one wishes to injure himself trying to travel on McCain's invisible coattail.

It wasn't. She's being mentored and spoon-fed by Sean Hannity. And I am being completely serious.

jerry2a 2008-10-04 04:00:58 PM
She's still appealing to the base...dumb strategy - they have done little to woo the independents (the real ones) and undecideds. Attacking Obama alone is not likely to turn it around - if this is all they got left then they're in trouble.

DamnYankees: How does anyone have this much gall? I mean, what the fark. How hatefilled and arrogant must you be to say something like that.

More than anything I believe it's just ignorance.

To me this all seems to be a big game to her. I haven't seen her take one moment of this campaign seriously, probably as a result of being too uninformed and out of touch with reality to appreciate the situation she or this nation is in. We have two wars going on, the worse economic situation in 80 years, a ton of other problems and she's farking winking and giving shout outs in a debate? I'd laugh if it all wasn't so disgraceful.

There's no reason whatsoever for them to think this kitchen sink shiat is going to work. It didn't work for Hillary when it was new information, it sure isn't going to work now after it's been exposed to the public for nearly a year, much less coming from the mouth of someone as absurd as Palin. So the least she and McCain could do is have some respect for the next President of the United States, and perhaps have some for themselves as well and lose with what dignity they have left.

Atypical Person Reading Fark [TotalFark] 2008-10-04 04:04:06 PM
Sarah just found out her party was in trouble yesterday, when she was surprised by the news that McCain closed shop in Michigan.

She's only just begun to fight. I don't think McCain has any control over her, either.

jerry2a: if this is all they got left then they're in trouble.

This is all they have left. Hillary hit Obama on every associate and character issue possible during the primary. It didn't work for her and it won't work for Methuseleh and Perky Winksalot either.

No, no, no. You see, if they show respect then they are implicitly telling their supporters to show respect.

And this won't work, because they'll be too busy during the next Administration tearing him down and impugning his character to prevent any sort of initiatives from passing.

bigpeeler: This thread wreaks of fear and paranoia.

What does that even mean? Not to be a spelling nazi, but if you meant "smells of," the work is reeks. And, there is no evidence of fear in this thread. Just a good deal of righteous indignation at the depths to which the McCain/Palin ticket is willing to sink to save a failed ticket.

Atypical Person Reading Fark [TotalFark] 2008-10-04 04:11:59 PM
All tickets will do whatever they think will work, especially when they're on the losing side.

McCain knows what's up, electoral vote-wise, I really don't think Palin does. So she's on the stump for her party and her own ideas - and I'm sure it's heartwarming to the half of the Republican party who are exactly like her.

Like my cousin, who has the biggest McCain/Palin sign in her yard you ever saw, and is quite a bit less thoughtful and even less well-educated than Palin.

Palin appeals to the uneducated, and that's a fact.

Lack of spelling skill does not always denote political ignorance, but in statements like yours the two find much common ground.

Really? I thought it was her tits, and the fact his own party found McCain so repulsive the GOP had to put someone on the ticket to appeal to what passes for the Republican base these days.

Whatever the case, I'll gladly take the results. The Sarah Palin fad appears to have had a shorter lifespan and less appeal than the Pet Rock, which is interesting when you consider all the similarities between the two subjects.

Ah, yes. Obama "palling around" with terrorists.

Because the Democratic Party WOULDN'T notice something like that BEFORE giving him the nomination.

Because the media WOULDN'T have spotted this before the all-knowing, brilliant force that is Palin.

Because the FBI WOULDN'T have possibly investigated something like that under the last five years of "OMG TURRISTS" coming from the White House.

You motherfarkers are getting desperate, and it's starting to really affect your thinking abilities.

Very well said. But there is also one thing I think you might be missing - her evangelical belief in "gods plan". This is a really serious thing which many evangelicals believe in - two of my roommates did. It leads you to believe that any opportunity is a chance to live through gods plan, and it is not up to you to turn down those chances.

She's scary as fark.

Hender: but chose to stay with his fellow heroes

You might want to check out how he treats his fellow heroes. The DAV rates all the members of Congress on Veterans issues. For the last 2 years, McCain has been rated at 33 and 22 percent, While Obama is at 88 and 86 percent. That's tough love on McCain's part. While you're pondering that, explain how McCain knows how to win a war. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have largely been ground combat with air support limited. I'm not disrespecting his contribution, but it doesn't qualify him for Presidency. P.S. i'm an Army vet. We all love our country.

Hey, listen... Obama should have thought twice about his friends if he was going to run for President.

Didn't he launch his candidacy for Illinois State Senate at Bill Ayers brunch? Hasn't he suspiciously lived near him on two different occasions?

Didn't he attend a radical church for decades, and somehow manage to miss the hate-filled speech floating around him?

Please.

Lawnchair 2008-10-04 05:20:13 PM
If he was a terrorist, he'd be in Gitmo.

That's what Bush does to terrorists. No trials, no procedure, he locks them up.

He has a list of who's naughty and who's nice.

It's not like Ayers is difficult to find.

The fact that Bush hasn't locked him up suggests that either Bush is a failure at locking up terrorists, or that he isn't one.
