Awwww..Fall in BC. The time of year when the cops get their yearly supply of BC Bud....
And what a pain in the ass it is with the helicopters buzzing peoples homes and yards, at below legal flight elevations with thermal imaging cameras. And the same police force refuses to use these fancy helicopters to look for fugitives in the Bush. Bushman of the Shuswap(many years ago) being one(Minimum security risk).

By the way. This type of cops activity leads to homes being destroyed with grow-ops. Grow your Bud in the bush and don't wreck peoples houses. Other than the guys who put containers in to the ground with grow lights. Pretty fancy they are.

Ugh, it's not as fun as it sounds, believe me. Takes a hell of a long time and is basically just garden variety manual labor (get it?).

There are of course perks though.

clovis69 2008-10-04 05:16:29 PM
I used to do this for my mother's enterprise.

Not that fun. Hot, dirty, boring.

Also worked on the trimming end of things, really boring, really sticky. 10 bucks an hour in 1990-92 though, not too bad.

No way, I can't believe these people get stoned on the job.

Operations of such a magnitude that necessitate hiring labour to maintain productivity requirements are almost all controlled by organized crime syndicates. Usually Hell's Angels.

You don't really want a job working for those guys.

Common sense.

Who has the capital and organization to commit to an illegal operation of sufficient size? Your stoner neighbour Jules?

This isn't a few plants in some guys basement we're talking about. These are literally agricultural farms, growing in the bush or in greenhouses. Anything of that scope is not run by a few college kids.

And with these groups....once you join them, you can't really leave.

That's bull crap. No doubt that organize crimes does the same thing as well, but not all weed grown in Canada is done by the bikers or asian gangs.

Only in Vancouver, there are a lot of grow ops in the interior that aren't organized crime affiliated. Notice most of the people they interviewed were doing it up north ie: Prince George.

what kind of fear mongering bullshiat is this? People dont get shot over weed that often. the article is right, most the people you can get jobs like this from are just "steriotype" old hippies.

Hells Angels? Are you farking kidding me?

Man you better wake up and realize that like half the people you know smoke pot at least socially, and that most of them get it from people they know. THEIR FRIENDS YOU IDIOT. Usually grown in a basement somewhere. The hell's angels sell Meth, because its cheaper to make, you can make as much as you want as long as you don't care about the consequences, and it has built in demand (i.e. it farking addictive as all hell).

Pot is grown by people you know, white collar people many times, who either need the extra cash, want qc on their own use, or just like to grow (a strangely large number of the last).

So tell me Ishkur, which grandma, suburbanite, or Cancer Patient is the Hell's Angel?

Citation needed indeed.

You might want to try the real world someday. I know people who do this type of labor part time, and they're not working with any gangs. It's called a co-op, and they're popular in the stoner culture.

TheJoe03 [TotalFark] 2008-10-04 07:48:08 PM
Growing weed isn't on the top of the list of gang priorities. A real crime syndicate would be doing more in the cocaine and meth segments right now. Weed is nothing to these people, they usually are just slanging weed sacks on the side, but harder drugs are first priority. On the east coast I'm sure they are heavily pushing heroin more than meth I guess. So anyone claiming that only a gang would have a nice grow-op is a fool, the illegal weed trade is much different from the harder drug trade.

If it can not be kept out of prisons, how do you keep it out of a basement in B.C.?
Statute of limitations in effect.
