Whenever I hear of the ways they cover up women in various parts of the world (okay, mostly the Middle East), I always think of the Egyptian Book of the Dead. In short, it was this huge, complicated intricate book of instructions. If a dead guy got them all right, then he returned to life. If he didn't return to life, well he must have got something wrong, right?

So they put these women in all these heavy clothes, restricted lives, etc. But when a women gets assaulted ANYHOW, well... She just must have done something wrong! Assholes, the lot of them.
