I'm sure that calling Obama a terrorist or blaming him for 9/11 or whatever the neocons are ranting about this week will make the woman whose 401(k) lost 80% of its value this year feel a whole lot better.

Please, McCain, go on the attack. Please.

Seriously, if going full bore negative, and ignoring the issues or challenges is a winning game plan, then we as Americans deserve what we get.

Rascal King 2008-10-04 09:54:28 AM
At what point did they stop making personal attacks? Honestly, I don't remember seeing a McCain add that WASN'T an attack other than the 'Real Maverick' nonsense.

The Obama one I keep seeing is just him talking to the camera.

Hopefully the truth about his two black babies will come out now. The librul MSM has kept that story under wraps for far too long.

honeymaid8 2008-10-04 10:11:05 AM
If only Obama would have joined McCain at numerous town halls!

The interesting part here is that McCain theoretically wanted to campaign on the issues, but that didn't work because, as it turns out, he wasn't what experts call "correct" or "reasonable". Maybe this will help the American electorate see through his bs.

This is yet another hail mary pass. It may connect for a TD, but when you're already down 40 points what does six matter?

I'm in Massachusetts. The ONLY political ads I have seen are for the gubernatorial race. For New Hampshire.

YAY for the straight talk express

But...but....Obama did like 3 negative things to McCain's 9999 negative things. THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME!!

In fact, somehow, Obama is WORSE!!

The McCain campaign is spitting in the face of the people in this country, and some idiots are asking for more.

I'm in Delaware, which is technically all sewn up, but our TV comes from Philly for the most part. Consider yourself lucky.

Well, he's taking his one positive ad out of circulation and replacing it with a negative ad. So now it'll will all McCain's ads being negative and not just all except one.

If Obama would just lose like he's supposed to, McCain could still be an honorable man.

He made Hillary Clinton lose any shreds of a good reputation that she had by trouncing her and making her flail wildly against him, and now he's doing it to McCain. What a jerk.

Nicely put.

"McCain's only positive commercial, called "Original Mavericks," has largely been taken off the air, according to Evan Tracey of the Campaign Media Analysis Group, which tracks political ads."

Maybe they've decided to yank the commercial because of Biden's thorough trashing of the idea of "mavericks" during the debate:

BIDEN: I'll be very brief. Can I respond to that?

Look, the maverick -- let's talk about the maverick John McCain is. And, again, I love him. He's been a maverick on some issues, but he has been no maverick on the things that matter to people's lives.

He voted four out of five times for George Bush's budget, which put us a half a trillion dollars in debt this year and over $3 trillion in debt since he's got there.

He has not been a maverick in providing health care for people. He has voted against -- he voted including another 3.6 million children in coverage of the existing health care plan, when he voted in the United States Senate.

He's not been a maverick when it comes to education. He has not supported tax cuts and significant changes for people being able to send their kids to college.

He's not been a maverick on the war. He's not been a maverick on virtually anything that genuinely affects the things that people really talk about around their kitchen table.

Can we send -- can we get Mom's MRI? Can we send Mary back to school next semester? We can't -- we can't make it. How are we going to heat the -- heat the house this winter?

He voted against even providing for what they call LIHEAP, for assistance to people, with oil prices going through the roof in the winter.

So maverick he is not on the important, critical issues that affect people at that kitchen table.

The word "maverick" was not used in the debate after that.

Three Crooked Squirrels [TotalFark] 2008-10-04 10:43:55 AM
At this point, it seems to me, McCain has two paths to victory:

1. Terrorist attack/Israel invades Iran/etc. and Americans get all scared and vote for the hawk.

2. Americans get scared of electing a black man. While McCain probably won't bring him up by name, expect the myriad of "Republican strategists" that populate the cable news shows to talk about Rev. Wright over and over and over again.

McCain thought he was getting the Creed/Balboa fight from Rocky. Instead, he's getting the Creed/Balboa fight from Rocky II. Ain't gonna be no rematch.

Sweet, McCain in desperate attack mode for Tuesday's debate should be an epic fail.

They want to turn the page on the financial crisis and get back to painting Obama as a liberal? Good luck with that.

That's something I don't understand. There was near universal disapproval of his behavior during the first debate. What the hell makes his Campaign think kicking the anger/attacks up to 11 is the right solution?

So, where are all the Fark parrots screaming/defending McCain that Obama made him go down the negative route for the first time and exclaiming how Obama went negative first?

I would like to, but knowing the brain dead moronic full retard residents of this country, unfortunately, this tactic will work.

It looks like the U.S. is on the brink of getting somebody COMPETENT in the White House for a change.

If the terrorists were smart and really understood Americans, they would start sending suicide bombers to protestant churches and airports in the midwest states right now. Maybe start shooting up school buses full of kids.

ANYTHING to get Americans to panic enough to vote McCain. That's the only way to be sure our remaining resources will be poured into attacking Iran instead of being used to actually go after them.

Awesome.

I'm sure calling Obama a racist unchristian scary black guy with ties to terrorists will win over the independents like never before

I heard Obama is going to force women to have late term abortions and implement a dead fetus tax.

I also heard Obama wants to waste tax money by spending it on helping Americans with things like education and healthcare instead of using it to fund wars and hire private no bid contractors to rebuild countries we've destroyed.

Like never before... Very accurate. Since he (McCain) has not won over the independent vote. At least not real independents (not including people who pretend to be independent because they're ashamed to be Republicans).

Meanwhile, Obama is coming out hard against John McCain's health care tax and push toward individual plans (which will hurt people who have a health history like John McCain and could never get an individual plan in a million years).

The difference in tone... striking.

I can certainly guess there will be more Timothy Mcvay style attacks on the US from religious nuts from the US. Bombing of abortion clinics, etc... People at work are starting to conclude that McCain is going to lose and Obama is going to take all their guns.

"I hope somebody kills that N*gger" - has been said outside during break already. I can't even image what they are saying at home or at the local pub. I have not heard this tone from any Obama supporter about McCain if he won. Keep it classy guys.
