Back off Ethel. She was cleared. Dead, but cleared. The killuh from Wasilla, on the other hand, not so much.

No way, man... you ain't foistin' that biatch off on us!
Alaska should be kicked out of the union, and Palin could be installed as National School Marm for Life. That's what they deserve for electing her in the first place.

Well, it might be interesting to be able to show folks what kind of Executive experience Palin has.

Not all of it's good, kids...

Yeah, if I was a Republican I wouldn't want to talk about the last 8 years either, much less Palin's insane abuse of power in the only two political positions she's ever held. This is a woman who less than two years ago was bullying librarians and police as some backwoods shiatkicker town mayor (after hiring someone else to actually, you know, do all of that real "mayor stuff" for her).

The McCain campaign's army of lawyers tried to stop justice, and the Alaskans told them to go to hell. Hopefully the rest of the country will continue to catch on...

Now there's change we can believe in!

Seriously, though. She can abuse her power as mayor and govenor, come under investigation for it, and then, because she's tapped to be the Veep, the investigation can be shut down as it may "irreparably harm" her character and what-not?? Ummmm...isn't this the sota stuff we wanna know about people wanting to run our country?

Nixon and Agnew were a better, more ethical team than Bush/Cheney. And probably McCain/Palin.

That clear packing tape does a good job protecting paper, and you don't have to worry about it peeling off from all the use.

Instead of a 2x4 have you considered using moose antlers?

A little off on your chronology...she hired someone else to do the real "mayor stuff" for her because of the bullying. She'd already gotten caught and was trying to mitigate the damage.

McCain and Palin ARE Mavricks(tm), and are outside the norm.
A rare breed indeed.
Proof you ask?
Most Senators and Governors have not been investigated for abuse of position and power.

These two are definitely Mavricks(tm) in fields of Ethics and Morality.

McCain/Palin '08: Corruption You Can Believe In.

/then again, corruption may be the norm in Alaska

It's a little like how the US Supreme Court ruled that we couldn't count all the votes in Florida because that might cause irreparable harm to the notion that Bush won the election.

They're just following established judicial precedent.

This is all grandstanding. TFA contained the biggest clue - all of the people with any information have been shut down by McCain's lawyers. They don't even WANT to win the appeal.

The investigation has turned up nothing and they are doing this just to yank the rug out from under anyone anticipating a gotcha moment. The pundits are going to be doing a lot of hand-wringing over this. Look for conservatives to say, off the record, how concerned they are that she might be found to have violated ethics rules. It's going to turn out to be a big nothing just so the American people will go, "This? This is all you've got? I guess she can't be that bad then..."

At this point I am far more concerned with their policy of trying to hide anything and everything, just like the last administration.

Um..

None of this makes any sense.
If there were really 'nothing', wouldn't the best bet been to have participated willingly in the investigation, you know, like Sarah Palin originally promised?

No. Nonononono.

What I believe happened is something like this: The investigation found out something extremely wonderful about the woman, the kind of thing that would endear her to even the most misguided of liberals. The Palin campaign is feigning obfuscation and obstruction in order to save the revelation of this wonderful thing until immediately before the election, to maximize its effect, and simply because they are just modest.

PALIN == REAGAN

Skleenar 2008-10-04 11:24:23 AM
I'm not really sure what this wonderful thing might be, but I'm guessing it might be an endorsement from a famous person or something like that.

I think you're half-right. Or more than half, really. I also doubt the investigation is going to turn much up...but don't underestimate the effect that the press conference releasing said "nothing" will have. Even if they can't find anything conclusive, you can bet that there will be at least a veiled reprimand and several complaints about Palin's people refusing to honor the (now court-verified as legitimate) subpoenas. That press conference will be aired live on every news channel and reaired on all of the networks in the evening, and while it may serve to exonerate her, it will also likely serve to remind people that there's some shady business going on out in Alaska. Which will hopefully be enough to further tarnish her "Washington outsider reformer" image.

Could she appear any more guilty if she tried? If this thing has been overblown and she really didn't do anything, or it was slap on the wrist material, then she should be pissed. She went from total transparency before the pick to total lockdown and no cooperation and throwing slime at people doing their jobs.

When she and mccain lose, she is going to have to go back to work with a bunch of people who REALLY don't like her and won't cut her any slack. Like most governors, except her sky-high approval ratings are gone, and will probably keep drifting down.

SVenus 2008-10-04 11:37:41 AM
And then there's the allegation that Todd Palin got to view a certain Worker's Comp health claim and then went to photograph said person to get that particular WC claim denied.

Of course, one would need to interview Todd Palin under oath to get an official denial. Perhaps the court could subpoena Mr. Palin to get him to ... oh, they already have? And what was the result of that? I see. Todd refuses to submit to any subpoena. Well.

That settles it! Innocence proven!

Aexia 2008-10-04 11:38:08 AM

Putting people under oath seems to yield results.
