(Delaware Online) Amusing In the debate Joe Biden referred to Katie's restaurant in Wilmington, a place which has been closed nearly 20 years. Well, that's like yesterday to someone who saw FDR on TV in 1929   (delawareonline.com) divider line 244

So this is the brilliant plan on trying to steal a debate the American public already said Biden won, trying to turn it into a loss a la Gore's HORRIBLE NO GOOD sighing?

Pathetic.

Wow, what a major gaffe!

I have some powerful memories of meals and restaurants from longer ago than 20 years. I'd strangle Trig Palin with a Hannah Montana beach towel to have a pizza from Maters Vineripe right now. Big slices of mushroom, extra cheese, and feta. Maybe a generous amount of their farking amazing sauce, also.

Heroic Poser 2008-10-03 06:11:21 PM
Ok, sorry, but I'm really bad with streets and just being a couple blocks off is not a big deal.
It being closed for 20 years, meh. Who cares?

We laughed about it down at Home Depot when I was there getting illegals to come to my home and choke me in the shower.

I kind of want Buzzy's Fabulous Roast Beef (Boston) back. I also want a President I like and respect, and that's not going to happen either.

Sorry Barack and Joe...I liked your plans for America and I was taken in by what I thought was your genuine concern for this country...but this?! Sorry - I'm switching my vote to McCain/Palin. Sarah Palin may have lied about supporting the divestment of Alaska's interests in the Sudan, but this is over the line.

I'm with you there. My dad still talks about this one pizza place that I think shut down when I was four, and he's Biden's age or maybe a bit younger.

I don't think forgetting that a restaurant you recall as a good example of a local, main street establishment shut down, is a horrible gaffe. It just means you're old. I'm far more concerned about Sarah Palin saying that the surge would work in Afghanistan, which just about every person slightly familiar with Afghanistan says is completely wrong.

So, let's compare:
- Wrong on a restaurant in tiny city: Joe Biden.
- Wrong on a major area of military engagement and foreign policy: Sarah Palin (and the McCain/Palin campaign.)

I still call restaurants by what they used to be called, even if they change hands (and names). So I know where he's coming from on this one.

Anyway, I'll have you know that Joe Biden went to Katie's Restaurant with his first wife and his kids right before his wife took that car trip which killed his wife and his son. So he's still having a hard time dealing with his wife, his son AND Katie's Restaurant all being gone. Katie's still being around (at least in his mind) is a psychological defense. Stop picking on the guy.

I made all of that second part up, in case you could not tell.

It's nice they kept the sign up and that it still says Katie's.

It would be real hard to imagine driving by that and thinking it was called something else.

Oh well, this is them 'gotcha' journalist scored again.

You can get anything you want at Katie's restaurant.

They put a carpark on the piece of land
Where the supermarket used to stand.
Before that it was a restuarant named "Katie's"
On the side they used to feature naked ladies.
That's where the big bands used to come and play
My sister went there on a Saturday......

I hope Joe Biden says something dumb everyday until the election, just so the Freepers can yell and scream and get their panties in a twist over it when nobody cares. It will please me.

Quadraton: So, is "Katie's restaurant in Wilmington" the new "price of milk"?

Apples and oranges. The "price of milk" is a gotcha question posed to candidates by the press, hoping to embarrass them as being out-of-touch. No one asked Biden about Katie's. Rather, he offered it up himself, trying to bolster his cred by showing that he's "in touch" with the common man by eating at their local restaurants.

He's a dumbass.

Stepping over the line is pretty maverick-y.

Plus, if it's the right line, you can claim foreign policy experience.

I believe he mentioned this restaurant as a place you could step into and talk to the locals about the economy.

So it's either a good bellweather of the economy 20 years ago, or a good indication of the fingerspitzengefuehl Sen. Biden has of economic issues.

IStateTheObvious 2008-10-03 09:34:36 PM
He also said Hezbellah had been kicked out of Lebanon and that Hamas had been elected in the West Bank. Yawn...he's going to be the next VP. Get used to it.

Biden is a walking gaffe machine. It's not new, hence not news.

"When we kicked -- along with France, we kicked Katie's restaurant out of Delaware, I said and Barack said, 'Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don't know -- if you don't, Katie's restaurant will control it.' Now what's happened? Katie's restaurant is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Maryland."

jerry2a 2008-10-03 09:35:54 PM
Mordant: It's just proof that both sides are bad.

I don't believe that for a second. Both sides bend the truth - it's the ideology behind it that separates them...and personally I think there's a big difference.

Biden: Gets a restaurant wrong
Palin: Does not know which government branch the Vice President is under.

Come on, do people really think getting a restaurant wrong is more important then the biggest financial crisis we have seen since the great depression?

The Republicans really don't get it.
