This is bad news... for Obama

Insurance_EE_guy [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:49:16 PM
It's not even funny how biased main stream news organizations have become. Not. Even. Funny.

I have to go into my back into my corner and hide and whine!!

If Obama was coddled like this by MSNBC or CNN I'd have the same feeling.

Stupid tag gets on gold star for today

ToxicMunkee [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:49:42 PM
I'm sorry, but didn't she say something about Hillary Clinton's whining being bad for women in politics?

Two Dogs Farking [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:49:52 PM
Funnily enough, she managed to touch on nearly all the same talking points she repeated over and over again during the debate, although they were rarely even close to answering the question. How about that, gosh darn it?

DslainteC [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:51:17 PM
I can understand where she's coming from. When I get annoyed I tend to get a blank look on my face and stammer out a bunch of nonsensical sentences that have little to do with what is annoying me.

Quadraton [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:52:11 PM
So, let me get this straight. She was annoyed because Katie Couric was asking hardball questions that were designed to put her in a lose-lose situation. You know, hardball questions like "What newspaper do you read?"

Additionally, it would seem she also had a problem with how Katie Couric wouldn't let her ramble on incoherently for eons until she finally got to the point where she was able to verbally thrash Barack Obama.

So, what? Was she expecting the questions to be phrased like, "So tell me Sarah. Do you think Barack Obama hates America very much, and do you believe he's a ruthless terrorist waiting to savage honest hard working hockey mom's like yourself?"

New flash, Sarah. No one is required to hand you this election on a silver platter. Some people actually want to know what they're getting out of their candidates.

jonasborg [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:54:23 PM
Hmmm...a politician who always gets what they want. No thanks.

Nothing says "strong political candidate" like whining.

jerry2a 2008-10-03 03:55:42 PM
Can you imagine if the mainstream media had asked Obama about his ties to Reverend Wright? Or if Joe Biden had to answer questions during his career about plagarism? Why are they treating Palin so unfairly? How DARE they ask her which newspapers she reads.

Lorelle [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 03:56:26 PM
I agree. Couric was such an insufferable biatch. I mean, she didn't even allow Palin to give shout-outs to 3rd graders. Damn doggone liberal media.

newmoonpuppyhead 2008-10-03 04:03:10 PM

patrick767 [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 04:06:38 PM
I refuse to vote for someone for any office who can't even handle freaking Katie Couric.

Palin: If you choose to answer a question, you are going to get clobbered on the answer.

If your answer is mind numbingly ignorant, then yes, you will. If you can and do give a thoughtful, accurate response, you'll do alright.

Palin: If you choose to try to pivot and go to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too.

So she's complaining that people don't like it when they ask you a question, you don't answer it, and you talk about something else entirely? Seriously? That's her complaint? That's what she did at the debate, too. If she didn't want to answer a question or was simply too ignorant to answer it (more likely it wasn't in her script), she ignored it. Why do some people not understand that that's a bad thing? wtf?

Palin: I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars.

Again with the "Obama will raise your taxes" lie? STOP LYING, ASSHOLES.

"When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate, with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or, you know, maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think "that doesn't do us any good"... I mean, work harder, prove yourself to an even greater degree that you're capable to be the best candidate."

MisterTweak 2008-10-03 04:09:28 PM
And it's about healthcare reform and the jobs, and everywhere, like such as..

Two Dogs Farking [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 04:11:29 PM

FTFA: "The Sarah Palin in those interviews was a little bit annoyed," she said. "It's like, man, no matter what you say, you are going to get clobbered. If you choose to answer a question, you are going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to try to pivot and go to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too."

You know why, Sarah? It's because you're doing a farking interview. It's not about what you believe Americans want to hear about. It's about what the reporter wants to ask you about. That's her job. Your job is to answer the questions or not agree to the interview.

She pulled this same crap last night, "I'm not going to answer the questions the moderator wants to hear." Stay in Alaska then, you stupid coont.

I find it strange that a former beauty pageant contestant was unable to answer questions that were about on the same level as those asked of pageant contestants.

I mean, Couric's "annoying" questions weren't much more substantive than "Why are children our future?" or "How can you, as Miss Vulcanized Rubber, end world hunger?"

McStinky 2008-10-03 04:21:52 PM
"pivot to another answer Americans want to hear about"

Translation: Don't answer the question, repeat the stump speech.

/deference this

Maybe if you weren't incompetent, that wouldn't be a problem you twit.

If you choose to try to pivot and go to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too."

Imagine that. Someone is asking you questions, and you will get clobbered if you start advertising instead...

Not actually the same thing, though I don't know the facts on this one. His spending plan may indeed increase spending by $1T and this comment doesn't necessarily speak to taxes. But this could be a lie also, just not the lie you're quoting.

onecanshort [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 04:31:42 PM
"In those Katie Couric interviews, I did feel that there were lot of things that she was missing in terms of an opportunity to ask what a VP candidate stands for, what the values are represented in our ticket.

Well gee golly, that sounds good, you betcha I'd love to hear what makes YOU a good candidate, do tell...

I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes, which would lead to killing jobs.

Well golly, what about YOU?

I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars.

Well shucks sweetie, how about your qualities or your stance on spending?

Some of his comments that he's made about the war, that I think may, in my world, disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief. Some of the comments that he has made about Afghanistan -- what we are doing there, supposedly just air raiding villages and killing civilians. That's reckless. I want to talk about things like that.

Well golly, let's talk about it!

So I guess I have to apologize for being a bit annoyed, but that's also an indication of being outside the Washington elite, outside of the media elite also. I just wanted to talk to Americans without the filter and let them know what we stand for."

Well thanks cutie-pie! Why don't you go ahead and tell me what you stand for? Wait, where are you goin?

The bottom line in this miserable spectacle is this:

People thought Sarah Palin was kind of hot. A moron to be sure, but sort of hittable.

She gave an embarrassing interview with Charlie Gibson and conservatives only saw a mean journalist attacking their hottie. The reverse sexism of the White Knight phenomenon took over their brains and they were incapable of seeing fault in her answers.

The Sean Hannity interview didn't mean anything at all in the end, to their disappointment, because conservatives knew what that interview would be and the last thing that interested them was the regurgitation of the talking points spamming their email already. It wasn't important to anyone.

But then came Katie Couric. Couric's questions were fair, even a little softball in their openness, but she possessed the power of contrast. Suddenly, their Alaskan Sex Machine looked like a whithered and nasty ex-wife when sitting next to Katie f*cking Couric.

Look at Katie in that interview. Just look at her. Goddamn. Palin didn't stand a chance. Usually her source of contrast is a 72 year old short guy with liver spots and weird teeth. Next to that she's Angelina Jolie. But without her wingman, she looked god awful. People stopped paying attention to her looks, and started paying attention to what she said, which for Sarah Palin, is the worst thing in the world. She's an idiot.

Think about it.

Yes! Yes it is sexist! It's stupid, shallow, irrelevant and true. We're all morons. This is the kind of bullsh*t that sways opinions. Conservative, liberal, men, women- everyone was thinking it. It was the subtle associations that suddenly clicked off, causing synaptic misfires in the brain; FORCING people to think about the woman rather than just see her as the goddess manifestation of their own misguided political opinions.

It was 1984 all over again for Sarah. She was on stage, playing a shiny flute with all the mediocrity she could muster in a pretty costume and what f*cked her up in the end is that there was someone else on stage who was better.

rppp01a 2008-10-03 04:38:59 PM
FTA For the record, Couric asked her, among other things, what type of news sources she turns to for information, which Supreme Court decisions she disagreed with, why Alaska's proximity to Russia gave her foreign policy experience, her opinion of the bailout package for Wall Street, and where she thought Vice President Dick Cheney erred. Which one of those questions was designed to trip her up (as opposed to, say, give viewers a better sense of her character and views) is tough to ascertain.

Designed to trip her up? I would expect O'reilly or Olberman to do this. Couric didn't try to trip her up. She asked questions that she thought, oh I don't know, maybe the american public would like to know answers to, dontcha know?

Cyborg77 2008-10-03 04:40:23 PM
I guess ABC and CBS weren't willing to give her the amount of deference she wanted. Luckily as VP she will only ever deal with people that agree with her and want her to succeed and will never again have her delicate sensibilities assaulted.

Well, gee golly, don't-cha-know, Sarah said something I agree with.

When it comes to "outside the elite" you don't get more outside than her. One thing she is not is the elite. Of anything.

Hello. I am Governor ELIZA Palin. What is your question?

Q: Who do you think is responsible for the subprime meltdown?

> Who do I think is responsible for the subprime meltdown? Do you want me to think is responsible for the subprime meltdown?

Q: What should we do about it?

> Are you certain we do about it? What makes you feel like we do about it?

Q: Governor, do you believe we should remain in Iraq?

> Are you really talking about me?

Q: Yes. Do you believe we should remain in Iraq?

> Oh. I believe we should remain in Iraq?

Q: Why is that, Governor?

> What is it that you really want to know?

Q: Why do you believe we should remain in Iraq?

> We were discussing you, not me.

Q: Please, Governor: Should we remain in Iraq, and why?

> Do you mind elaborating on that?

Q: What are your reasons for remaining in Iraq?

> What answer would please you most?

Q: Next question. Do you support same-sex marriage?

> Please elucidate your thoughts. You're not really talking about me, are you?

Q: How does this pertain to same-sex marriage?

> How should I know how does this pertain to same-sex marriage?

Q: Do you believe gay couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples?

> I can't say I believe gay couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples why?

Q: Would you support sending more troops to Afghanistan?

> I am not so sure if I would like to support sending more troops to Afghanistan.

Q: How do you and Senator McCain differ from the Bush administration?

> Do you like and Senator McCain differ from the Bush administration?

Q: My opinion doesn't matter here. Are there any differences between you and Senator McCain, and the Bush administration?

> Can you elaborate on that?

Q: Not really, no. Your final statement, Governor?

> Oh. . . Final statement?

Q: Yes. What would you like to close with?

> Are you concerned about my like to close with?

Q: Please. Your final remarks.

> Oh. I have final remarks. OK.

Q: Thank you, Governor.

> Oh. I Governor.

Q: Good bye.

> Please go on.

I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes

Closing loopholes and lessening the disproportionate favor the government gives to corporations and the super rich is not raising taxes on the vast majority of voters.

I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars

Republicans really need to STFU and sit in the corner when the issue of government spending comes up.

Some of his comments that he's made about the war

Obama is the only one on either ticket who was right about the war.

...so maybe it's a good thing all they asked her about was what newspapers she reads. Even though she cocked that up too, it could have been worse if they gave her more rope.
