Scary? Different musicians teaming up to create new music is scary? I think subby needs to stick to masturbating to Fallout Boy in his mother's basement.

Oh, and +1 for the link and -99 for the headline.

Dude, I 'm a huge fan of Eddie's music, but there comes a day when you gotta turn off the record player and go outside. It's a whole new world, there's these things called MP3 players, and Eddie looks like this now:

it's a band that sounds like it will be big on the classic rock radio stations listened to by meatheads who own a Molly Hatchet album.

Q: "When will Satriani, Hagar and Anthony form a band?"

dstanley: Never forget Rule No. 1 of music threads: your favorite band sucks.

But in this case it's possible to prove, scientifically, that a band comprising Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and Michael Anthony will suck. There's nothing it can do but suck. It, by definition, must suck. It's in the band's f*cking DNA.

That's what makes this such a special case.

Let's see. Satriani shreds. Michael Anthony is a good base player who provides fantastic harmonies. Sammy Hagar can hit notes full voice and still kick ass on guitar. I fail to see the suck factor here. Sorry, subby, the suck factor is on you for this one.

Satch: a VERY good guitarist
Michael Anthony: an underrated bassist who is much better than people give him credit for
Hagar: pretty damn good vocalist for a 60 year old and is all about having fun

I can't wait.

Hagar's a bit of an Enigma. The same guy that writes deep lyrics like "Right Now", "Feelin'" and "Dreams" also churns out crap like "I Can't Drive 55", "Red" and the aforementioned "Up For Breakfast".

If you need further proof, look up "Source of Infection" on OU812.

Worst. Lyrics. Ever.

I think Eddie's son is a pretty damn good player, with a potentially long career ahead of him. Out of curiosity: How would you rate him with drunk-off-his-ass Michael Anthony? (Have we ever heard M.A. play sober?)

Hey, Mike Anthony was the only one ever in Van Halen that could sing, unless you count Gary Cherone, and no one does.

I'm willing to bet this'd be as good as that new Van Halen album that doesn't exist because Ed's too washed up to do anything but cash in on what he did 20-30 years ago.

Sylvia_Bandersnatch 2008-10-04 07:45:18 AM
Although ignorant boobs continue to promulgate the myth, music scientists long ago confirmed that there's a limit to suck. Suck exists not along an indefinite linear, as usually assumed, but instead along a finite curve, such that at some point, suck reverses phase and becomes good again.

This may well be an example of this phenomenon in action.
