It was dropping all through the vote, too. It was up 250 just prior to the vote.

I just blew 100 bucks on FNM while watching the House's last few comments right before voting, just to see what would happen with it.

$700 billion is nearly 1/3rd of the Federal government's budget. The Federal Reserve is going to have to loan us some more money for this.

The second bill was acceptable.
The third bill was basically the same, but with 10 other acts stapled to it.

Actually, I haven't seen any argument that a collapse was inevitable or even the most likely scenario. Some of us would rather have watched capitalism happen.

My understanding is we're screwed either way. We're choosing a bad option with known bad consequences instead of going with the worse option with unknown bad consequences.

I got the impression that with a bailout the economy is going to tank at some indeterminate time in the future and without the bailout the economy would be taking at some point in the near future.
