I am sick of all this "gotcha" journalism! Don't you mainstream MSM libtard media types even understand that she was just there to order a pizza or something?

You know, I was kinda disappointed last night that she didn't accidently set fire to the podium.

I am amused now though that she managed to misrepresent her Presidential candidate by refusing to answer the questions asked and reading from his talking points.

RedEyedWings 2008-10-03 11:59:25 AM
I wondered about that while watching the debate.

Meh. Just another example of how she doesn't understand what's actually happening. Even the average Joe Six Pack seems to be realizing what's up this time.

/fingers crossed

If they'd asked her what kind of pizza there would be even more backpedaling this morning.

At the risk of sounding like I'm defending Palin, it is nearly impossible to get a clear take on exactly what Murky McCain's position is on a lot of things. I wouldn't want that job.

McCain/Palin went pro-civil union last night!

what's funny is that most of the times she's contradicted his position, it's because his position is nonsensical.

they were talking about it the other day on cnn, the position that he would chase bin laden to the gates of hell, but wouldn't chase him into a cave in the pakistan border region. how did he come at this position? simple; he tried to make fun of obama in the primaries. he didn't realize he would be forced to actually keep and back up that position.

so when palin says she would chase terrorists into pakistan? well, that's just the logical conclusion from hers and mccain's world view. but the official position runs completely counter to it, because mccain doesn't think before he talks.

Heroic Poser: "Oh....I'm such a Washington outsider..."

One of the more memorable moments from the debate from last night, for me, was a question she answered with that phrase.

The subject was, "what should be do about genocide in Darfur".

I really thought she came out of that debate looking rather bad. Not as bad as when someone actually insists she answers the questions asked, but still -- not good.

tallguywithglasseson [TotalFark] 2008-10-03 01:03:14 PM
Didn't she suggest the Vice President's powers should be expanded last night?

To what???

And, importantly, does she even know what the VP's powers are currently?

I'm guessing she'll never answer that. She said something about the "media filter" which I took to mean, "I'm not doing anymore interviews until after the election".

She said something about using also the VP position to 'usher in an agenda' to the Legislative branch also since you know, the VP does Legislative stuff also.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't backpedal quicker. At least half their vote depends on the fundies, and they get mad when you tell them you should treat people different from them equally.

No, they didn't. Palin said she would never want to stop a loved one from seeing a patient in the hospital and then something about fully supporting people's rights to have private contracts with each other.

pootsie: mainstream MSM libtard media types

Second time today.
"mainstream MSM libtard media types" expanded becomes: "mainstream mainstream media libtard media types". I'll also point you to the headline directly below this, which starts: "One reason a lot of the media like John McCain...".

Us "libtards" are promoting a ticket that actually has knowledge of world and domestic affairs. The conservatives are promoting a ticket whose message is: "we don't know anything, but vote for us anyway".

It's good to know that a prospective president and vice president are on the same page when it comes to their positions on the issues.

To be fair, Ms. Palin has not given any evidence so far that she has a functioning FRONTAL LOBE.

I got lost on her "answer" to that since when she started talking about the powers of the Executive branch it seemed to trigger some Pavlovian response forcing her to talk about her Executive experience being Governor of Alaska.

The First 2008-10-03 03:06:25 PM
Don't we know by now. Palin is McCain trophy wife. She's there for the eye candy but has no opinion (not that anything she says is conclusive or meaningful, mind you).

Spot on. Not only that, she seems to make up her positions that are left of McCains. The irony is that she is a neophyte that seems exiled from the world and she has better judgment than McCain or Bush and Cheney for that matter.

How f*cked up is that?

Yeah, that was hilarious. In one breadth she was trying to say she would never discriminate while trying to say at the same time that gay couples should not have the same rights. She couldn't figure out a way to say she would not discriminate against them while ACTUALLY discriminate against them so she came off like she supported the same rights.

One of the distinctions it seems Palin (and perhaps some of her supporters?) does not seem to understand is that between being an 'outsider' by means of disposition and being an 'outsider' by means of ability. When John McCain speaks of being an 'outsider' or 'maverick', he's talking about the first. When Palin talks about it, she perhaps is appealing to the first (by virtue of categorising herself in league with McCain), but her personal attributes and even some of her own admissions strongly suggest the second. That is to say, she is an 'outsider' by means of a lack of policy savvy and overall ability to conduct operations of an advanced nature in public office.

To some degree, I'm not sure the McCain campaign fully appreciates this distinction, and so responds awkwardly by calling Palin a 'maverick' without realising that the narrative they've built is one of incompetence on the part of Palin and that talking about her being an outsider just reminds people of how thoroughly underqualified she is.
