and less than 26% thought she was smarter than Biden

And, by pure coincidence I'm sure, 26% is also Bush's approval rating.

Seriously, Obama is going to win. Why are we even debating anymore? Everything that he could have done that would have been right he has done the opposite.

100% of all statistics can be spun to say 50% of the truth, 25% of the time.

You know, if you had asked me before the debate which candidate would almost start to cry, I sure as hell would have had a different answer.

I thought her rambling, incoherent response to the question of climate change was the highlight, in terms of sheer enjoyment.

I'm off to slog through the debate threads...

She won hands down.

Well, not yet anyways.

priestrape 2008-10-03 09:06:50 AM
the reason people felt she performed above expectations is because expectations were for her performance to be a disgrace

Coming away from the debate with the opinion that she was unexpectedly "better than disgraceful" is quite a ringing endorsement of her readiness for office.

Just consider the source..... CNN? When was anything the reported on relevant? What the fall of the Berlin Wall? When was the last time they reported anything objectively and without bias? Gimmie a break they are tired and out of touch with this nation. Almost as bad as MSNBC....

Best parts of the debate:

-Palin saying she simply wasn't going to answer a question
-Palin agreeing with Biden on same sex couples
-Biden almost breaking down while defending himself as a single parent, and Palin responding off her cue card "Oh yea? well maverick maverick maverick maverick"

tortilla burger 2008-10-03 09:09:58 AM
One news article I had read said the bar was "painted on the floor" for Palin. That being said, it's obvious she could exceed those expectations.

I thought you were supposed to quit if Palin lost the debate? The overwhelming majority of polls show she lost and Biden won.

Democrats expecting a Palin meltdown last night were sorely diasppointed and I don't think anyones minds were changed last night.

Clearly Palin had the most to gain by not farking it up. Biden had the most to lose by farking it up. Neither side did poorly, neither side dominated the noise. In 24 hours, nobody will care.

That's what I came away thinking as well: This debate will have no effect on the polls

Superjoe 2008-10-03 09:17:06 AM
Palin seemed like a robot. She spouted out huge run-on sentences that were vague and just used talking points like "John McCain is a maverick". Then she just added in some "Doggone it"s and winks to pretend to have some personality.

tortilla burger: One news article I had read said the bar was "painted on the floor" for Palin. That being said, it's obvious she could exceed those expectations.

Even then she didn't do much better. She still rambled incoherently more than a few times, blatantly ignored questions and seemed the only word she could really get out was 'mavrick'.

I'm still confused how people can think she connected better with middle class workers. Apart from saying "gosh darn", the soccer field thing and "you betcha" she never said anything relevant to the middle class. Biden on the other hand made it clear on almost every topic that him and Obama are running this race for the middle class. He even managed to come off more human and caring than Palin.

Also Obama and Biden both had the best attacks of the 1st two debates. Obama's "you were wrong" and Biden's "you're no maverick"

I'd like a new rule: If you can't pronounce "nuclear" properly you are instantly disqualified from ever having any control over the US nuclear weaponry.

"Bosniak', as I imagine you actually know, is the proper term for a person of Bosnian ethnicity. Also - why are you here? You pledged that you would leave if Palin lost, and with the exception of the joke called Drudge, she lost in every poll. Not that I want you to leave - like anybody else, your contribution here has value - but I think it would be manly and decent of you to admit that you were "engaging in hyperbole" ( I won't say fibbing) when you said that. I think we'd all respect you more if you did.

What makes it great was how in that first speech they had it spelled out phonetically like "new-clear" and everyone laughed about it. Turns out she really says "noo-ku-lur" and they did everything they could to try and make her stop.
