Crap, that's two of them in one year (John Stewart died last spring).

Where have all the Kingstons gone
Long time passing?
Where have all the Kingstons gone
Long time ago?
Where have all the Kingstons gone?
Gone to graveyards, all but one.

/Goodnight, singer man

My parents loved them, their music - his voice - is the soundtrack for my childhood.

See, you did it to me by mentioning the Clancy Brothers so I have to do it back. Hopefully you will check in again in the morning.

The first album I ever bought was "Best of the Kingston Trio". I have since replaced it with the CD. They influenced my taste in music more than any other band. Old age and dying sucks, scotch and soda and a jigger of gin, not so much.

Well, I guess now he's the man who will never return.

/RIP music man.

Sad coincidence. Just the other day I set Pandora to 'Kingston Trio' and let it go for several hours like that. Kinda nice, nostalgic. I was pretty young, but my folks like them a lot.

And he never returned, no he never returned......

They're rioting in Africa
They're starving in Spain
There's hurricanes in Florida
And Texas needs rain
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls
The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch
AND I DON'T LIKE ANYBODY VERY MUCH!!

But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud
For man's been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud
And we know for certain that some lovely day
Someone will set the spark off
AND WE WILL ALL BE BLOWN AWAY!!

They're rioting in Africa
There's strife in Iran
What nature doesn't so to us
Will be done by our fellow man

The songs of my youth. My dad used to sing this all the time.

I came here to make a snarky comment then I read TFA and saw this:
That album spent 15 weeks at No. 1 in 1959.
/cancel snarky remark
//replace with genuine respect for them
///might have to listen and see what they were about
////or just watch A Mighty Wind ;-)

I was friends with his daughter Annie as a child. I remember her dad as being such a nice man who let us have a lemonade stand in their front yard. My parents, of course, knew who he was and loved the Kingston Trio. In fact, they went to listen to one of their their last concert tours just the other year.
