It was the father who said his ex-wife wouldn't have been okay with it. He was basically speaking for her. SHE gave the bracelet to Obama, and SHE is fine with it.

still, if the father and the neocon dickwads didn't like it then it shouldn't have been done.

Well, in all fairness, men do have the duty to speak for women who are too simple-minded to form their own opinions.

I see you have a traditional view of marriage as a sacred commitment between a man, a woman, and a couple of neocon dickwads.

The awesome part to me is that Obama was going to go through the debate, quietly wearing his bracelet. McCain was the grandstander, and the one who had the "bracelet" scripted. Backfire.

The father of this slain hero should have some input to how his son's legacy will be paraded for political gain.

I agree with that. I think he probably should have said "Let me tell you about the bracelet I was given..." instead of "I have a bracelet too!" It did come off childish.

The father is free to express his own opinions, he just shouldn't issue a retraction in the name of his ex-wife, apparently she is capable of speaking for herself.

Townhall is a slightly more literate version of Freerepublic. I'm surprised the number is only 71%
